Sleeping Dogs is the undisputed winner this time. I actually wanted to see if any other games did anything similar since I already knew how Sleeping Dogs did it, but unfortunately there wasn't much competition. I like how Watch Dogs did it though. Like it's so easy to just have the character teleport out, but to have them kick out the front windshield and climb out makes it that much greater. I actually liked the solution for "Watch Dogs" and "Sleeping Dongs". I don't see anything wrong with them reusing the same animation. At least they had a more creative solution than just teleporting the player. "Just Cause" tho was kind of funny. Just flings the door open with such power to move the car and creates sparks.

@@bbdoook I get why Studios often don't do this. If you start doing it then you also have to put in an animation for what happens when you flipped the Car. Cyberpunk also has the Problem that some Cars don't even have Windows. They only have screens on the inside and are armoured. Good luck kicking that in. It's a matter of Gameplay over logic and I don't really care if I get animations for something I will very rarely see. Most of the time I actually park with enough distance because some older Games wouldn't even let you leave the Car otherwise.

However, if you pin the driver's side door up against an object they will disappear and no police will be called. It's useful but pointless and requires setup. The 2nd is far more useful and is necessary in the Performance of glitches during multiplayer That cheaters and campers exploit on a daily basis. Pinning the player character between a vehicle and a flat wall with a singular collision layer while on a motorcycle will cause the character to simply be pushed through the wall or teleport straight through if in the case of a vehicle and there is no room for "window busting, climbing out" animation. It's called wall breaching and it is a staple of advanced play

Would probably just frustrate players if they suddenly can’t get out for some reason. Taking the players control away from their character for no obvious reason is very risky. This isn’t something that would happen in the rare situation that two cars block both sides of the vehicle but really any time the car finds itself in a tight situation where the game determines there isn’t enough space for the player to spawn outside without clipping into collision meshes, which isn’t really that uncommon when you consider the way that players tend to drive in these games, ploughing into side streets containing objective markers for example.
In Watch Dogs, you can actually teleport through almost any in game wall by lining the driver side of a vehicle up against a wall and then using another car that has been pre-positioned to block the passenger side of the vehicle. When you attempt to exit the vehicle you will be pushed through the wall.
In saints row you can also get in the car by sprinting towards it and jumping through the windshield which is cool af, so when getting out you teleport, but when getting back in you can actually do it that way :)

It would have had a sequel. There was an online game called Triad Wars that would have helped fund the sequel. It was cancelled because fans were upset that it wasn't the sequel and didn't like the direction Triad Wars was going.
For game devs out there, the simplest but realistic thing to do in this situation is to make the player can't open the door with added sound effect or text. Jumping from a window is cool too but it's not the simplest.
Sleeping Dogs is a fantastic game and details like that prove it. Don't forget in Saints Row 3/4 you can run and dive through the windscreen to get back in the car as well though!

Oh sleeping dogs was one of the first games I played and it was so awesome the fighting combos and the finishing and the story everything was so awesome
As someone who's played games in this exact manner, pretty much exclusively... or so to say, I play games to test their systems... I've seen most all of these before. But what's interesting is that Sleeping Dogs actually works so well... In the US cars are mandated to have safety glass in the windshields, so kicking them out would literally never work like that. You'd be at it for hours, and the eventual result would be a solid piece of windshield, all spidered and smashed up still yet, all falling forward at once.... as we have regulations that state we must use safety glass... But in Asian and EU markets, this mandate doesn't exist. Part of the reason that we need to go through tons of expense and work to import cars, as they need outfitted with safety and emissions standards that no one else cares to employ. But, it would allow for the EASY kicking and smashing of a car windshield in those places, so that would indeed work there as portrayed.
Sleeping Dogs is definitely the more realistic approach to the situation, though it would take several kicks to break the window IRL since the windshield has a decently strong layer of plastic in it to keep shards from flying all over the place, which is what the game one did in one hit.
GTA SA is a good example of a realistic way on what to do to get back in your own car. It can be taken a step further to something like this: 1.CJ will try to remember what vehicle it is supposed to get in when the player queues for it. 2. If the requested vehicle’s doors are blocked, CJ will move one of the car’s and move it to the side. 3. Go back to the original vehicle and yeah. Note: for step 2 I was thinking the AI of CJ can move the vehicle instead of the player, but maybe games can have a configurable option if they want to disable or enable for it.
Sleeping Dogs is severely underrated. i was surprised that when i mentioned it, not a lot of people knew about it. the combat was amazing as well as the storyline

I remember I played sleeping dogs a looooot of time as a kid and also a year ago when i bought it for ps4, and i thought i knew every posible move in the game, one day I got stuck between 2 cars and Wei performed that move to get out, it was so unexpectable that it scared the hell out of me lol
I'm a bit surprised that the games that let you crawl out, don't let you crawl back in, something you actually can do in Saint's Row 3 and 4 actually, when you try to get in a vehicle while sprinting the boss will drop kick any and all front passenger out at high velocity directly into driving position. For how I'd do it, like, if window not brocken, break it, then, with a brocken window, crawl out, then, stand on blocked car, if window brocken, simple crawl in, if window not broken, grab roof for support, standing on the sides of the window, little hop, drop kick through the window into the car.

Sleeping dogs was so underrated and Farcry 3 was the best Farcry game in the series. Gta 4, 5 and Sanandreas were also great.
Far CRY 4 was good too. At least playable. I enjoyed it too. But every other game. Nahh. That turned into something like AC.
@@akariamano5544 i dont see what you mean? Far cry 3, 4, 5 and 6 all have simular gameplay, with 5 and 6 having a few new mechanics. The only similarity they have to AC is you can kill people using stealth.

As someone who's played games in this exact manner, pretty much exclusively... or so to say, I play games to test their systems... I've seen most all of these before. But what's interesting is that Sleeping Dogs actually works so well... In the US cars are mandated to have safety glass in the windshields, so kicking them out would literally never work like that. You'd be at it for hours, and the eventual result would be a solid piece of windshield, all spidered and smashed up still yet, all falling forward at once.... as we have regulations that state we must use safety glass... But in Asian and EU markets, this mandate doesn't exist. Part of the reason that we need to go through tons of expense and work to import cars, as they need outfitted with safety and emissions standards that no one else cares to employ. But, it would allow for the EASY kicking and smashing of a car windshield in those places, so that would indeed work there as portrayed.

Sleeping Dogs is definitely the more realistic approach to the situation, though it would take several kicks to break the window IRL since the windshield has a decently strong layer of plastic in it to keep shards from flying all over the place, which is what the game one did in one hit.

GTA SA is a good example of a realistic way on what to do to get back in your own car.
It can be taken a step further to something like this:
1.CJ will try to remember what vehicle it is supposed to get in when the player queues for it.
2. If the requested vehicle’s doors are blocked, CJ will move one of the car’s and move it to the side.
3. Go back to the original vehicle and yeah.
Note: for step 2 I was thinking the AI of CJ can move the vehicle instead of the player, but maybe games can have a configurable option if they want to disable or enable for it.
Sleeping Dogs is severely underrated. i was surprised that when i mentioned it, not a lot of people knew about it. the combat was amazing as well as the storyline
Watch Dogs as well, at least part 1 and 2 are underrated. Yes it isnt what they showed off but it was still a good game with an MC you actually grew attached to

I remember I played sleeping dogs a looooot of time as a kid and also a year ago when i bought it for ps4, and i thought i knew every posible move in the game, one day I got stuck between 2 cars and Wei performed that move to get out, it was so unexpectable that it scared the hell out of me lol
The first two minutes and 30 seconds was killing me w the db sound and the sounds for franklin teleporting

In the saint row games I remembered being able to jump in through the windshield.
I'm a bit surprised that the games that let you crawl out, don't let you crawl back in, something you actually can do in Saint's Row 3 and 4 actually, when you try to get in a vehicle while sprinting the boss will drop kick any and all front passenger out at high velocity directly into driving position. For how I'd do it, like, if window not brocken, break it, then, with a brocken window, crawl out, then, stand on blocked car, if window brocken, simple crawl in, if window not broken, grab roof for support, standing on the sides of the window, little hop, drop kick through the window into the car.
