Pittsboro folks often spend more time in Apex or even Sanford than Chapel Hill for shopping, the drives are better. I'd also say avoid Pittsboro if you want a chain restaurant or Target within 10 minutes, we're still mostly local with our businesses.
Is there any bedroom town of Raleigh you didn't mention? Basically, you said to avoid EVERYTHING. Seriously? I moved from Raleigh to Wake Forest three years ago - best move ever! Wake Forest is delightful, no argument.
You may have missed the point of this video. We have a couple other videos talking about all the best parts of every single city near Raleigh, and over 100 talking about all the areas in the Triangle and how amazing it is. No city is perfect, and people want to hear the good and the bad.
@@LivinginRaleighTV Okay, I think I see what you mean now. You're mentioning all the bad traits about all the towns, I'm guessing. But the title and the tone of the video is very misleading. I thought you'd cover a couple of the sketchy areas (like southeast Raleigh where I used to live), but you mentioned all the towns and I was shocked. So many of these little towns are utterly delightful.
Watching you for the last year, hoping to move to the area, when things settle down a bit. I love your topics, that always fit right in with all of my questions. Keep updating us on changes in these areas. Great knowledge, and facts, thank you!
@marnim8574, you and the rest of the country are hoping to move to the area🤦♂. The area is full. I would recommend the Triad area: Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point.
I live in the Apex area and love it used to live in Cary and had a great feel different vibe. Raised in Knightdale and love it just as much. But they are building a lot and I mean a lot. Which part of me is like the trees 🌲 which I love and want to see more of … that’s just my personal opinion. In terms of growth I feel as though the triangle has money because of all the building of (apartments, establishments , and also more fun things ) they do which excites me. Just wish they worked on roads faster sometimes. 😅 I moved away for 2 years but coming back it feels like home. In about 5 years I may move closer to the beach but this area is one of my favorites 🥰 Oh also the suburbs are great if you have children ❤
very accurate! and good food for thought. when I lived in Chapel Hill, I did "big city" things in Durham, now living in a Raleigh suburb I do more activities there. It's such a small difference in time but I rarely pop over to Nasher for an art show or DPAC, I'm much more likely to check out a Raleigh venue now. Even an extra 10-20 minutes commute ends up changing your habits a lot. so I'll steer clear of Fuquay, I'd never go out lol!
Ive lived all over Raleigh and I don't agree with a lot of this. One Holly Springs is great and Clayton is not what it once was. It's very beautiful and they are building so many new things there. It's nice not being right in Raleigh and only a 25 minute drive away. You also get a lot more for your money.
We didn't say any city was worse than another. We talked about the cons of every city in the Triangle because people moving here want to know the good and the bad. Clayton was accidentally left off the list.
As a Raleigh resident I can say that you nailed it! My daughter goes to UNC. I offered to help her buy a car and she declined saying it is easier to take the bus than to drive and find parking. Ya'll just need to avoid moving to the Triangle all together.😆
I lived in Wake Forest from September 2011 to January 2020. Only ever really got to see downtown during 2016 and a bit of 2018/2019. It felt like a little town at the time, but I've definitely seen it grow over the last few years. It's kinda sad, since I like small towns, but I understand why.
Appreciate the videos. My Family and I live in Zebulon. With the growth of Wendell it makes it better and better to live close to an alternative destination to do shopping, etc.
You can see the dump while driving on the outer loop and it’s more on the Holly Springs side. On a bad day you can catch a whiff of it from the Target shopping area.
I lived in the Triangle from 1997 to 2010. The good thing about Raleighwood is many great jobs and high tech employers. The bad things are traffic congestion, the skyrocketing housing cost due to outrageous property and home owners insurance raises due to Hurricanes and all the Yankees from up north moving to the area and all of the massive bond issues to build new schools. It is so bad their that many Elderly and long term residents have sold up and moved away because they could no longer afford to keep their homes. Raleigh needs to do a better job and affordable housing choices. I enjoyed my time there but after I had to take a early retirement I could not afford to remain there.
At 6:55 you have video from Sewickley, Pennsylvania which is where I live. It is a beautiful little town, but a long, 7-8 hour commute to the Triangle, so I would not recommend living there.
We have a huge database of footage we've filmed and sometimes stock footage accidentally gets mislabeled and mixed in when it's sent to editing. Good catch!
Chris, I love your videos and didn’t mean to nitpick. Your engaging personality combined with the occasional mistake stock footage insertion makes you human.
Heard back in 1995 when I moved to Raleigh it was the Concentrated Area for Relocated Yankees. I chose to live in the Crabtree area near Seratoma Park.
The whole point of this video is to share the cons of each city in the Triangle. People need to know the good and the bad if they're planning to move here
For the guys at this channel or Raleigh residents. I currently live in Tampa, FL and thinking of moving to Raleigh in maybe next year or 2. Can anyone kinda give me the real rundown of Raleigh vs Tampa like weather, cost of living, things to due, terrain and culture? I'm a big "mind your business" kind of person who hates high humidity but love Southern hospitality lifestyle. Would Raleigh be a good fit (PS Im not a strong beach person)
Been here between Raleigh and Durham, since 2015. Getting crowded, lots of immigration, crowded roads, poorly planned growth. University influence- liberals, have alot of influence.
@shaded8293 I have lived in Raleigh for decades. Raleigh USED TO BE a gem of a city. I called it the "biggest little-city" in the US in that it had all the amenities of a big city (great airport, ample shopping, professional sports, good roads, decent schools) yet still had a small town feel. That ended about 5-10 years ago; however, it has not felt like a southern city for a long time due to all the migration from the north for the last 4 decades. On the positive side, if you are in high-tech, pharmaceuticals, education or government, there are a lot of job opportunities. In addition, the area is beautiful with rolling hills, a mix of trees and some really nice suburbs. I am not one of those people who hates suburbs. I love them, despite needing a car, and they were an excellent place to grow-up and make friends! I have found through the years (ironically) that the higher the people density, the less people interact with each other. On the negative side, the roads are now very congested and Soviet style apartment blocks are going up everywhere. In terms of cost of living, unlike Florida, we have state income tax. In addition, housing prices have massively inflated since the Federal Reserve inflated the money supply during the "virus issue" so a 2000 sq. ft. house averages 300,000 - 400,000 depending on where you live in the area. I am looking to leave the area in the next 6 years as growth balloons and I no longer recognize the area. So, I can compare Raleigh to the Tampa area since I was seriously considering moving from Raleigh to Tampa 20 years ago since I wanted milder winters and better access to boating. In the early 2000's the roads in Tampa were good and the housing prices were slightly more affordable than Raleigh. I was back in the Tampa area for a visit two years ago and, like Raleigh, the area has exploded with growth and the traffic was horrendous. I would not move to Tampa now. By the same token, if I lived in a smaller town than Raleigh, I wouldn't move to Raleigh either unless a job brought me to Raleigh. Comparing the weather, Raleigh seems to average about 5 degrees cooler in the summer and about 10% less humidity on any given day. If you want more of a southern city, you may want to look at Greensboro or Greenville (both named after Revolutionary war general Nathaniel Greene).
Looks like you got some replies to your question. We don't know a lot about Tampa to be able to compare it. From what we understand, Tampa is much more humid, susceptible to hurricanes, a little bit larger. Traffic might not be as bad here because there is a lot of rural area between the major cities, where the Tampa metro has a lot of populated areas surrounding it.
Raleigh like others have said is basically full due to lack of infrastructure. You need a car and patience to sit in traffic for long periods of time. Don't like humidity? Raleigh's full of it in the months of July/August without the sea breezes you have in Tampa. Getting worse with climate change and overdevelopment (concrete's hotter than dirt). Taxes are higher. Southern hospitality? Most who live here aren't locals. They're from out of state/country. If you love diversity, Cary is a better place to socialize than Raleigh specifically. A lot of Floridians move to the mountains of GA or NC if you're not a beach person. On the plus side, there are lots of cultural things to do throughout the year plus pro hockey and soccer plus college sports (Be a basketball fan is a plus). Weather's not as potentially severe like Tampa. We do get our share of tornadoes and hurricanes/tropical storms but not like down in FL. No snow either usually or if we do get it, it's just a dusting for a few hours or a day. Conveniently located to all points on the road with major interstates. International airport. Better healthcare than FL; however, we need more providers due to the influx of new people. Lots of lakes, campgrounds, hiking trails, greenways, etc. NO alligators. Snakes though.
Correct. You do. Actually, in another video, you mention darn near every city you say to avoid here and say they’re great places to move. LOL. I’m guessing you live in Cary. :)

Holly Springs, Apex and Fuquay are at the same distance from the Harris nuclear Plant. Actually is in New Hill, which is Apex. Makes no sense your comment avoid avoiding Holly Springs because the nuclear plant…
@@LivinginRaleighTVthe nuclear plant is in new hill. It’s 18mins from Holly Springs, 17mins from Apex, and 20mins from Fuquay…. “Look at a map”. That’s from google maps
@Mark Paskovich - A person has to define "Yankee." I met more people while living in Cary from Detroit and Ohio, than I did those from Philly, NJ, or NYC. Also, the more popular acronym for C.A.R.Y. is "Congested Area of Relocated Yankees". And depending on what part of Cary you venture into, it can be referred to as "Little Tijuana " or "The India Republic of Cary". I'm just saying.
Boy, moving to that area just blew my bubble. Because of the nuclear plant I just learned about, I will not move to Chapel Hills or any other town in the surrounding 50 miles of it. Don’t start every line with “You don’t want to live here if…” It makes you sound very biased. How about “this is what this city does and doesn’t offer”.
We’ve already done a video like that for each of these cities. This video is about all the cities in the Triangle and reasons why each city may not a fit for everyone. We have created over 150 videos all about how amazing the triangle is and our whole channel is created to help and encourage people to move here. This is one video.
@John Labus - When I relocated from Georgia to North Carolina, I lived in Cary for 5 years, then moved to Raleigh for another 5 years before relocating back to Georgia. But the catch was, I moved to the part of Raleigh just across from Cary. Define "actual city of Raleigh", because saying that can mean so many different things.
If your talking about moving to a town that has class and is wealthy and family do not move to Zebulon it has middle class areas but most of its big wheels on trucks rednecks and the other parts are ghetto but if your looking for a town that's small that has lots of things to do and lots of businesses and has an awesome local team like the mudcats Zebulon is your best bet I like Zebulon it's my 2 favorite town in Wake county Raleigh is number one though because of its diversity
@@LivinginRaleighTV It is the largest town in NC. However, it is chartered by GA as a town and is happy to stay a town. Even the sign you showed said Town Limit.

I think channel owner is trying to explain both pros and cons. He is trying to show positive things of the towns, by highlighting the negative parts.
Basically avoid North Carolina that is what you are saying instead of one word you are taking forever
So basically avoid the Raleigh/Durham area.
No, these are the cons of every city in the Triangle. People like to know the positives and negatives of each area since no area is all positive.
Do you have a high school diploma?
Here’s the cliff notes: don’t move to Raleigh or any of the surrounding cities
I was told Durham is dangerous and ghetto by locals
Avoid Durham like the Plague!!!
dude named everywhere but clayton
Somehow we missed Clayton
Cary was #1 on my list. After watching this video it's #1 and #2!
So basically avoid everywhere……..

There's no reason to not move to the actual city of Raleigh! 😉
There are a lot of reasons not to move to Raleigh and I was born & raised there

When I relocated from Georgia to North Carolina, I lived in Cary for 5 years, then moved to Raleigh for another 5 years before relocating back to Georgia. But the catch was, I moved to the part of Raleigh just across from Cary. Define "actual city of Raleigh", because saying that can mean so many different things.
@@thespadestable I moved to Cary NC from South Brunswick NJ. It's a dramatic change of my life and I loved that.
Clayton no love?
We somehow missed Clayton! Wasn't intentional
@@LivinginRaleighTV CLAYTON= Cary Like Area Yankees Take Over Next!
Cary is a town, not a city.
Cary has 180,000 people
@@LivinginRaleighTV It is the largest town in NC. However, it is chartered by GA as a town and is happy to stay a town. Even the sign you showed said Town Limit.
People move from cities that are rough and think Durham super safe but the facts don’t lie it has a high murder rate 😂
Wouldn’t it have just been shorter to list where to live in RDU? You zonked just about anywhere. Lol
The entire point of this video was to give the cons of all the city/town in the Triangle to help people understand areas that may not be a fit for them based on what they’re looking for. In other videos we give the pros on all the different cities. Thanks for your support!
@@LivinginRaleighTV I’m considering Clayton.
@@mjg1544 We love Clayton! Let us know if we can help you find a place. Hello@MortonBradbury.com or 919-964-0474
