Kings of Edoras and Hornburg making their appearances - though thats an 18 year old memory, always fun to see references to other parts of the story. Also Phina being back to look after Rinyuu at the end, a good segway into the Bestower of Fame line if you just remember it.
I know i said in chat i would have my thoughts "later tonight" but the server went through maintence as i was doing Ashlans tale so welp. But anyways Progress report: The traveler stories for Tahir, Pia, Aslyte, Rodion, and Ashlan, Menno, Noelle, Mabel are finally complete. And thus I'm finally done with all the four stars. At least until i gain 500 fragments to obtain the new 4-stars. In which i shall repeat the process all over again. As for my thoughts: Tahir, Ashlan, and Pia were all pretty straightforward. One wanted to clear his grandfathers name, one wanted to understand why a bunch of rhinos were raging in an environment they usually aren't seen in and one wanted to become the go to shop for the desert royal family. All tales went pretty much standard, but that's not a bad thing. While it's fine to have your expectations subverted every now and then it's also very refreshing to have a nice simple story that play's it straight(though i was surprised that Pia's tale had so many battles to it). Of the three i think that Pia's might be the one to make the top 10. Rodion is a reminder that patience is indeed a virtue when it comes to certain people and what worked well on some inflictions won't do anything for another, except probably make it worse. A lesson he had to learn the hard way and one he was trying to teach wadim. Luckily though despite sending a hit on Rodion's life and refusing to take the pill that would save his(having to be forced fed it while unconscious due to his stubbornness) he eventually came around. Noelle was another feel good happy tale, but what i like most about it wasn't Noelle herself but rather her teacher Professor Dalberk. It's always nice to have someone like a parental figure looking after you to make sure you do well and succeed in life, and Dalberk was like that in spades. Granted he was skeptical of his pupil in the beginning but once he saw proof that the tale of ische could've actually happened not only did he come around but he also got invested. I also like how at the end they setup her questline in the original game, but also makes me wonder why they couldn't do the same for Miles. Noelle got an original new tale to herself while Miles is nothing more than one big setup. Anyways, Menno's surprised with how he lied about his blessing being a thing of gods(though it was so that people don't go back to sacrificing young women to get good winds) and not him just checking changes in the direction of the wind. I was also got caught off guard with how he was willing to just straight up kill a man and his crew, which granted, they were not good people but i really did not expect this kind of action from Menno a cleric. From his design to his voice and even his element, i thought he was going to be one of those will only fight/kill if there's no other option like Ophellia and Ramona(makes me wonder whether or not Stead and Promme had some hand in teaching him the ways the ways of the flame). Same with Mabel, due to her design and voice I thought she was going to have a similar Story structure and personality to Primrose but wow was i wrong. And i'm glad i was, her infatuation with Franz combined with the need to let everyone and their mother know about it made very her funny and endearing to me. Though i will say that i find it odd that Franz's in game sprite looks different to his design in Mabel's splash art, just a little something i noticed. Aslyte's story was tale of tragedy and redemption, one i enjoyed a lot especially the part where she gets another chance to save the kids. Even though they were different from the previous ones. I also like how they mentioned Tytoses death, proving yet again that even though the 4-stars aren't going to be used much once the player starts pulling 5-stars, the devs still cared enough about them to put effort into they're characters. I will have my top 10 later tomorrow.
It's interesting reading your recaps, because I just can't remember half of these stories. There are a few that stood out to me like Cedric, Peredir, Wingate, Meena and Cless. Heck I even remember Ashlan's rhinos. But I'm afraid most of them have disappeared into oblivion.
still feels weird to me how a series has a better story on a mobile gacha game haha. not saying Octopath Traveler 1 and 2's story is bad. but, I was not expecting a gacha game to have a better story compared to 1 and 2 combined lol.

Totally unexpected! I am just glad I happened to discover this rare gem of a mobile JRPG.
