I've read some comments here, how some people think the real MRG-B5000B is very expensive. Which it is. But you do get a lot of expert labour involved. The watch is made of hardened Titanium, not steel. So it's very lightweight. Then it's finished with a Diamond-like Carbon coating which is 4 times harder again. It's so tough it has to be zaratsu polished, a person who is trained for years before they're allowed to do it. The case isn't a single part, it's made up of 25 seperate pieces. Because each part has to be zaratsu polished individually. It's very labour intensive and skilled. On the bracelet, each link has two seperate round flat rods. That's three parts per link, all titanium, all DLC coated, all zaratsu polished individually... plus pins & collars. Pins and collars are used because the DAT55G Titanium is Grade 3 and so hard, tiny screw would be too brittle. The clasp has a gold looking locking button, so it can't be accidentally released during activities. The very top of the case is made out of Cobarion a very hard treated metal which can only be obtained from one supplier in the world. The case also includes a unique suspension system to support and protect the internal electronics. Each corner is fitted with a leaf spring. The internal circuitry is real Gold Plated for extreme durability and efficiency. A homage to the original 1983 DW-5000 unit. It's then finished off with a pure sapphire crystal display with anti-reflective coating on the inside. And a 4 second fade blue back-light. The red line around the watch face is reflective, so 'pops' on sunny days. It really jumps out, along with the zaratsu polished DLC layer. Lovely watch to wear and very tough.
I can tell as an owner, you are genuinely passionate about the profound engineering that went into this masterpiece of horology. I must say I was not familiar with a lot of the points you mentioned - namely surrounding the craftsmanship of the individual bezel pieces. I knew it had multiple princes, but had no idea about all the additional work that went in to each individual part 👀 Thank you for this incredible summary of the genuine MRG-B5000! 🙏
@goatreviews No worries, what I also find interesting is how this Casio MRG shares similarities with my Grand Seiko "Tentagraph" ... which also has Zaratsu polishing on High-Intensity Titanium, Sapphire Crystal Glass, pins & collars bracelet, and an almost identical clasp. That watch is three times the MRG price. But a lot of similar features. But it won't hold up as well for resistance to shock or vibration. So Dinner Appointments only 😄 Edit : ... and I use the MRG B5000B to set ALL my mechanical automatic watches before I use them. It is the time benchmark.

As a good guide, I'd say it's worth it but only if you don't have to go into debt to get one. Debt is the enemy and will take all the long term fun out of owning it. Save, or buy it from a bonus cash influx. Then you'll enjoy it.
Great question, John! The weight difference is noticeable at first but you soon get used to it. I don’t notice the difference any more 😁 Still feels great to wear! 👌

G'day Excalibur! ⚔ I appreciate the feedback. There are bezels made to fit the "GW-M5610U", but I specifically chose the GW-B5600SL as the host watch for specific reasons. It was the lowest cost B5600 series watch with a positive display. Also, the 5600 series have a lens that can be replaced without compromising the Solar Panel, unlike the 5610 series! Anything from the B5600 series with a Positive display would be fine for this build. Easily a GW-B5600. It’s got Tough Solar, all the features you’d expect, plus it’s got a moddable lens unlike the 5610 series (as I found out the hard way!) There’s also more premium metal versions if you’re so inclined, but the basic resin B5600 is the best value.
Could you do a gmw-b5000rd-4 mod? I have been trying to find something similar since I once saw it and it was beautiful. Sadly I cannot pay the price for the actual model 😢

G’day Ba-Gawk! 🐔 The module of B5600’s in general have slightly different displays to the 5000’s, in terms of how things are laid out. However they are almost functionally identical! Although the 5000’s do have larger, easier to press pushers. Also, the ‘B5600SL’ or “Sand Land” specifically, has a slightly darker “yellowish” tinge to the background of the screen (Which I think matches very nicely with the gold of the MR-G!) Hope this helps 🙏
@@goatreviews Oh man, imagine the DW5040PG-1 (40th Anniversary) gold screen used for this mod. Too bad it doesn't have any features (no atomic time, solar, bluetooth, etc.), or I'd cut up that puppy in a heartbeat just for the bling factor.
@@pdiz Great idea, Ba-Gawk! 🧠🐥💡 A couple of the lads in the Discord had a similar idea... It turns out you can actually buy a very similar background separately on AliExpress ( s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DefzTp7 ) so you could change just that, and keep all the other features of your module!
I've been waiting for this one, and you did not disappoint. But, it's a lot of work, using more tools than I expected, and the bracelet doesn't look anything like as good as the MRG... It's a lot of money too - you can buy a San Martin watch for the cost of this kit. So, I'm undecided

I do want to point out that a lot the tools I'm using are "optional" ones that I've grabbed since it's not my first build. I'd encourage you to think about substitutions - What do you REALLY need? What else could you use to achieve the same effect? What are the TRUE essentials for this build? (Glue, press, etc...) 🤔 BTW, I'm more than happy to help you along the way, man. The original has a more complex bezel though, so people in the know will notice. But what a stunning watch. For me this is too complicated, so what I am planning to do is first mod a GW-5610U with a normal titanium kit, and then later purchase a GW-S5600-1JF and use that with the titanium mod. The titanium backplate and the titanium buttons of the GW-S5600-1JF should be an awesome combination with the titanium mod.
G’day Der, good point, that’s absolutely correct! 👌 To me, the over-engineered bezel of the original doesn’t provide any benefit whatsoever… all it did was raise the price, preventing the design from being more accessible! 😂 What are your thoughts on this? That’s a fair assessment - the lens swap isn’t for everyone! I truely believe a pusher swap, Howewever, is within reach for all. Wow! 🤩 What a great idea. The S5600 is a spectacular model, and the 5610U is an insane value watch in the mean-time (it’s what I used for my “Mecha TVA” upgrade kit). Yeah but 4k for a g shock is nuts especially when the nicer colors and designs are either limited or bump up the price by several hundreds. Plus modding something adds a personal touch and feel to it especially when you end up with something you can't get without modding like a unique color combo.

I’m also not fussed on that gold pressed back as well haha i’m a fussy bugger but do have the original and probably trying to justify the price i paid

I suggest you go and have a look the real one first. The finish quality is way off. I wont wear that out but ok to keep in display for entertaining purpose.

If u own a Ford, and put a BMW emblem on it, doesn't make it a BMW. this might be similar in regard to screen and the colored screws and buttons. But ain't nothing like it, the build quality, polishing, and individual parts that makes up the bezel and strap is extremely well produced, on top of that the material is nothing even worth comparing. Glad ur happy for your mod, but its nothing more then that, a cheap copy.
I appreciate your stance, and agree with your analogy (though would add that at least the 'Engine' is also 'BMW' 😜). I was fully aware when I planned this build that there would be people who would not appreciate the finished product. The only person I can speak for is myself, and I for one am very proud to be wearing this watch. My issue with this is it presents like a counterfeit MR-G you've picked up from a marketplace. Would be better without the MR-G logo / branding. You haven't saved 4,000 dollars because you haven't built a watch equal to a real MR-G. Many things about this are inferior.
I understand your viewpoint. As far as I’m aware, there is no “Counterfeit MR-G’s” available at markets. I’d be very interested to see one if you know where you can find them? 😁 All I know is I am very happy with the quality of all the parts. I am proud of the final build. That’s what matters to me. While it’s not “equal” to a genuine MR-G, it’s a compromise that myself (and others without that level of disposable income) are willing to make to save $4000 off buying an original. I don't know if counterfeits are produced. For sure, I can't justify spending the money on an MR-G either. Luckily there are affordable B5000 models under the MR-G with great modding options. Did you consider a mod of a B5000 to get even closer to the look of an MR-G? Giving the same module and dimensions too. I appreciate this would be much more expensive. Excellent modding video BTW. You are braver than me! That was a severe mod! I learnt a few things 👍 You do know I'm not an actual Terminator, right? 😉🤖
Dang. I hadn’t been able to find an alternative either, @-T-1000- , but it would be cool to see one! Ah, the B5000 series! Much larger, nicer pushers… and identical to the module in the the MRG-“B5000” 😁 Believe me - I did do my research! It’s something I’d have preferred too. In fact, I have a (used) B5000 on standby! (I might open it for #WatchOfTheWeek, or sooner 🤫) Unfortunately, as one of the fellas in the Discord found out the hard way, the suppliers haven’t produced a MR-G lens for the B5000. They’ve done the backplate, straps, and other components, but not that critically important lens. They kind of alluded to be it being “released soon” but that’s yet to come to fruition. So that’s why I went with a B5600 module - which allows me to create the closest MR-G alternative available 😁 Thanks for the feedback T-1000! 🙏 It was a calculated risk (that almost didn’t pay off 😂) Too late, it’s hard to change first impressions! 🤖😜
I like the screw case back and STN display on the B5000 watches! Don't get me wrong I like the 5600s. They sit well on wrist with the slimmer profile and are excellent value! That makes sense regarding your decision to use a 5600 in your mod. Would definitely tune in for a B5000 video! Good luck going forward with the channel 🤝

Instead, you show us all the mistakes and what you did to push through. I must say I was not familiar with a lot of the points you mentioned - namely surrounding the craftsmanship of the individual bezel pieces. I knew it had multiple princes, but had no idea about all the additional work that went in to each individual part 👀

@goatreviews No worries, what I also find interesting is how this Casio MRG shares similarities with my Grand Seiko "Tentagraph" ... which also has Zaratsu polishing on High-Intensity Titanium, Sapphire Crystal Glass, pins & collars bracelet, and an almost identical clasp. That watch is three times the MRG price. But a lot of similar features.
But it won't hold up as well for resistance to shock or vibration. So Dinner Appointments only 😄
Edit : ... and I use the MRG B5000B to set ALL my mechanical automatic watches before I use them. It is the time benchmark.

As a good guide, I'd say it's worth it but only if you don't have to go into debt to get one. Debt is the enemy and will take all the long term fun out of owning it.
Save, or buy it from a bonus cash influx. Then you'll enjoy it.

There are bezels made to fit the "GW-M5610U", but I specifically chose the GW-B5600SL as the host watch for specific reasons.
It was the lowest cost B5600 series watch with a positive display. Also, the 5600 series have a lens that can be replaced without compromising the Solar Panel, unlike the 5610 series!
Anything from the B5600 series with a Positive display would be fine for this build.

Exactly, there is a HUGE markup to account for the design engineering - Which I must point out - this does NOT replicate! The actual MRG-B5000 Bezel is NOT a solid piece like this, but rather 25 individually milled pieces, all puzzled-together! 🧩 Sadly, this is not something anyone asked for, or would really notice, so I'm not going paying a $5,000 premium for it 😅

I couldn't agree more - It's so important to show the honest struggles that can take place in these mods. I'm just a regular guy who likes cool watches, and I want to show that anyone can do it, too! Realistically, there's so much more that can go wrong too - like an e-clip gets lost - or the lens-gasket gets buckled - so I am so grateful things went relatively smoothly.

Easily a GW-B5600. It’s got Tough Solar, all the features you’d expect, plus it’s got a moddable lens unlike the 5610 series (as I found out the hard way!)
There’s also more premium metal versions if you’re so inclined, but the basic resin B5600 is the best value.
Could you do a gmw-b5000rd-4 mod?
I have been trying to find something similar since I once saw it and it was beautiful.

The module of B5600’s in general have slightly different displays to the 5000’s, in terms of how things are laid out. However they are almost functionally identical! Although the 5000’s do have larger, easier to press pushers.
Also, the ‘B5600SL’ or “Sand Land” specifically, has a slightly darker “yellowish” tinge to the background of the screen (Which I think matches very nicely with the gold of the MR-G!)

A couple of the lads in the Discord had a similar idea... It turns out you can actually buy a very similar background separately on AliExpress ( s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DefzTp7 ) so you could change just that, and keep all the other features of your module!

I've been waiting for this one, and you did not disappoint. But, it's a lot of work, using more tools than I expected, and the bracelet doesn't look anything like as good as the MRG... It's a lot of money too - you can buy a San Martin watch for the cost of this kit. So, I'm undecided

You're absolutely correct my friend. It is a damn lot of work. But also, INCREDIBLY rewarding. I do want to point out that a lot the tools I'm using are "optional" ones that I've grabbed since it's not my first build. I'd encourage you to think about substitutions - What do you REALLY need? What else could you use to achieve the same effect? What are the TRUE essentials for this build? (Glue, press, etc...) 🤔

The original has a more complex bezel though, so people in the know will notice. But what a stunning watch.
For me this is too complicated, so what I am planning to do is first mod a GW-5610U with a normal titanium kit, and then later purchase a GW-S5600-1JF and use that with the titanium mod. The titanium backplate and the titanium buttons of the GW-S5600-1JF should be an awesome combination with the titanium mod.

That’s a fair assessment - the lens swap isn’t for everyone! I truely believe a pusher swap, Howewever, is within reach for all.
Wow! 🤩 What a great idea. The S5600 is a spectacular model, and the 5610U is an insane value watch in the mean-time (it’s what I used for my “Mecha TVA” upgrade kit).

Yeah but 4k for a g shock is nuts especially when the nicer colors and designs are either limited or bump up the price by several hundreds. Plus modding something adds a personal touch and feel to it especially when you end up with something you can't get without modding like a unique color combo.

If u own a Ford, and put a BMW emblem on it, doesn't make it a BMW. this might be similar in regard to screen and the colored screws and buttons. But ain't nothing like it, the build quality, polishing, and individual parts that makes up the bezel and strap is extremely well produced, on top of that the material is nothing even worth comparing.

I appreciate your stance, and agree with your analogy (though would add that at least the 'Engine' is also 'BMW' 😜). I was fully aware when I planned this build that there would be people who would not appreciate the finished product.
The only person I can speak for is myself, and I for one am very proud to be wearing this watch. I find it satisfying to know the effort I put in to building it, and how much money I saved 🤩

My issue with this is it presents like a counterfeit MR-G you've picked up from a marketplace. Would be better without the MR-G logo / branding.
You haven't saved 4,000 dollars because you haven't built a watch equal to a real MR-G. Many things about this are inferior.
I understand your viewpoint. As far as I’m aware, there is no “Counterfeit MR-G’s” available at markets. I’d be very interested to see one if you know where you can find them? 😁
All I know is I am very happy with the quality of all the parts. I am proud of the final build. That’s what matters to me.
While it’s not “equal” to a genuine MR-G, it’s a compromise that myself (and others without that level of disposable income) are willing to make to save $4000 off buying an original.

Did you consider a mod of a B5000 to get even closer to the look of an MR-G? Giving the same module and dimensions too. I appreciate this would be much more expensive.

Ah, the B5000 series! Much larger, nicer pushers… and identical to the module in the the MRG-“B5000” 😁 Believe me - I did do my research! It’s something I’d have preferred too. In fact, I have a (used) B5000 on standby! (I might open it for #WatchOfTheWeek, or sooner 🤫)
Unfortunately, as one of the fellas in the Discord found out the hard way, the suppliers haven’t produced a MR-G lens for the B5000. They’ve done the backplate, straps, and other components, but not that critically important lens. They kind of alluded to be it being “released soon” but that’s yet to come to fruition.
So that’s why I went with a B5600 module - which allows me to create the closest MR-G alternative available 😁

I love the authenticity of your videos. Sure, you could buy extra parts... screw it up a few times... and then edit together a flawless build.
