Exactly. He is who he is, and I bet once you earn his respect and continue to show good effort he would be behind you 100%. I have heard many people in interviews say that he is a great human being. It's the "tear you down and build you back better" philosophy. Same way the military does it. The vast majority of coaches are lifeless and tbh I think it has to do with not getting recognized, so they stick with hockey culture which is pretty much straight face under every circumstance. The league needs more coaches that won't be afraid to show that they're just as emotionally invested as the players are and the need players like ovi and subban in a sense where they know if you score a goal fucking celebrate within reason of course don't start doing front flips but pump your chest, scream be happy you just scored a goal against elite competition whether it's your first or your 600th it doesn't matter celebrate it's not a bad thing

I love Johnny Torts....reminds me of an Italian American-Ivy League version of Punch Imlach only with less restraint and better one liners. You play the game long enough and you know whether or not you gave everything or left something on the bench. You get to this level and you should drive yourself to the point of puking on the bench to win in every game. You can see it when the Ladies (CDA-US) play the game, flat out every second of every shift, unbelievable passion, energy and commitment and they are paid SQUAT. In fact I have NEVER seen anything close to the same level of intensity in any team sport that women play. I guess that's the beauty of contact sports. Punch's autobiography written in the 60's was titled "Hockey Is A Battle", it still is. When it loses that intensity I'll go watch curling.
I love this guy. He doesn't speak French, he is American, but imagine this guy coaching in Montréal. WOA. He will give us 10 years worth of entertainment and a Stanley cup.
