Pinpointing exactly where a shot came from can be guesswork. Plus when you have that many idle drones it's pretty effective to scour the entire area to find the shooter as well as other potential shooters. I'd be more concerned with the fact that the queen and company didn't hear the black powder explosion from the heroic sacrifice that caved in the tunnel. That had to literally be within 100ft from the queen. Queen: "Hmmm, Must have been the wind."
So they tried to get the direction, but the first arrow was unexpected, and Thus the Queen and it's guard only knew it came from either of the towers. Second time however, they were detected. As for the heroic explosion, when there are too many explosions happening, why one has to inquire every single one, plus plus, I think the communication only works from Queen to army, not from army to Queen. Haven't watched full movie though. So can't be sure.

I reckoned some people who dislike this movie because they don't have the capability to understand foreign language or they generally dislike to read subtitle. I like watching foreign languages movie, so that I know the world is more than just English movie. It broaden my mind.
Tao tei knew and believed that her shields bodyguards will cover and protect her against any danger, so he taught that bullet spear was a special meat that they've brought to her.
Actually they attached the magnet to the spear (because magnets blocks the connection between the tao tei and their queen) so the shield guys lost some connection to the queen for a brief moment thus giving enough of a window for the spear to enter
If those creatures were all part of a total hivemind and had no own sentience, how did they so often act alone and do some pretty smart stuff, like pulling hooks out of each other? Theres so much along those lines that makes no sense in this film, the costumes, the actors, the CGI etc. are all pretty great, but the plot is really really far from modern standards in terms of consistency and logic.
True, a more "realistic" approach would be that all these creatures start to kill each other or completely unorganised without the queen. But yeah, it's how it is.

great HDR image! great colours and brightness
It was colorful. But the CGI elements were incorrectly lit in many of the shots. This was amateur work at best.
And yet when our Queen died we did a bit of marching, bang-bang gunfire, a few nice tunes and then just got on with it!
