This is something that may have already been mentioned elsewhere before, but I had a thought of whilst editing this video. I realised the direct contrast between Asuka and Rei's character design. Whilst Asuka has red hair and blue eyes, Rei has blue hair a red eyes. Not only that but it directly correlates to both Asuka's and Rei's personalities with Red (Asuka's predominant colour scheme) generally being correlated with anger etc - Something very common with Asuka - and Blue generally being correlated with being 'cool' or unphased etc. And that obviously shows in the complete opposite personality archetypes that they respectively follow. Just thought I'd mention that cause I thought it was a cool detail that I had neglected to mention in the video
Asuka has an upfront, arrogant, snobby, in-your-face persona. She is however a softie, needy child inside. Rei has a controlled, quiet, bullied and reserved persona, yet burns with a sense for justice, perfection, duty, anger (and maybe, just maybe, a bit of revenge) within. Something other people & the audience don't really see until The End...... The End of Evangelion.
Anime rarely does any serious worldbuilding. Even for the dedicated fantasy series you often end up with the same set of D&D cliches. Any theme NGE touches upon had to be presented within the frame of the world Anno created. And despite all the fantastical elements, it's believability that makes this one work.
The mechanical and logistical workings of Tokyo-3 and the Nerv base always intrigued me with how much thought and detail went into it. The first two Rebuild movies do it even more justice; the giant skyscraper-like structures that emerge from the ground to fire missiles, the giant elevators that emerge from the ground to give the Evas new weapons/ammo, etc. are so epic!
Evangelion is an anime i absolutely love and hate in the same time. It is profound, has incredibly good animation, characters, voice-acting and memorable scenes. But it is sometimes so difficult to make sense out of it that it left me with a bittersweet taste after i watched both original series and the movies.
For anyone of you out there, please tell me which online website that has Netflix's dub of the series as I do not have a Netflix account and the most that I found is usually the ADV dub, which I do not plan. That would be smashing if somebody did that.
The ADV dub is soulful. The Netflix dub may have better acting on average, but it’s too flat and literal IMO. In my mind, Alison Keith will always be Misato, Spike Spencer will always be Shinji, Tiffany Grant will always be Asuka.
Video get to asuka instead of showing her trouble character shows her kissing the creepy lead character just to get views from creepy shippers. How sad.
That was not my intention whatsoever and I ultimately believe that I gave a fair and well rounded assessment of her character. As with other characters, Asuka has her positives and her flaws. That doesn’t make her perfect though. She’s a troubled girl with a muddied past, and she does everything she can to keep up with her own facade and to convince not only all of those around her, but herself too of her act she puts out to the world. Of course she has her positives too, she’s very assertive and confident, but ultimately her complete lack of empathy and regard for others well-being’s leaves her many times in a vulnerable position, as when other characters (for example shinji) finally lash back after her retorts, snarks and sometimes even physical abuse, she’s completely alone and has no more ‘layers’ or acts to hide behind, and it’s evidently shown in her synch scores. She’ll never act like she’s affected by anyone else, but deep down she craves the acceptance and approval from others. Unfortunately though, all of this is almost always brought upon by herself and she has no-one else to blame for the consequences of her actions other than herself. Again, Asuka’s character is very deep and has so many layers to it, but I tried to be fair with it, and with the time scale that I had to work with for this video in terms of writing, editing, overall watch time and the amount of explanation I gave to other characters too, I still believe that I was completely fair to her character in the explanation I gave. I hope this explains both my personal beliefs and also my reasonings for not delving too much deeper into things. I wanted to keep this relatively short whilst also giving a good explanation of the series as a whole and my own personal thought/insight into things. If you wish to talk then please feel free to reply back to this with any questions or comments, I’m always up for a discussion!

This is the most neatest evangelion essay that explains the anime that isn't too complex too basic or too long its just perfect.
Thanks! That was the goal haha, I appreciate it
People who make those Long videos on Eva just want subs and views.
they just have alot to say about eva

It’s a weird mix of depressing, epic, and slightly hopeful. You know it’s good art when it can make you experience a roller coaster of emotions.

@@whitemale2230 I have actually seen the Netflix dub and I actually LIKED it.
the Eva's are made of angles while the angels are angels, does this mean angles beat angels?
Yeah, pretty much lol
@@BenTheLight a right angle is 90 degrees, the sum of all angles in a triangle is 180 degrees
Eva Uni 01 is made from Lilith.
@@szeltovivarsydroxan9944 lillith was also an angel, but then again lillin are too, isnt everything in the nge world just angels then
I like Evangelion a lot, but I absolutely despise when people on the internet are making black irony, black jokes and black humor on that anime.
Then don't take Eva so seriously.
@@INFERNO95 what do you mean? Black humor is overrated af. I’m taking Evangelion seriously, that isn’t what Evangelion fans feel?
