Thank you so much for the video, one of the plastic washers came off with the cap but the other one didn’t and I wouldn’t have caught that! Nice of you to do this!
Great video: thanks. I had just installed the same hydraulic piston you did and did not realize the plastic washers'o-rings needed to be removed before installing the fittings: great tip from you. Went back and sure enough, the fittings were loose: removed the plastic washers and installed fittings the right way. Thanks again for the tip.
That looks like a welcome addition to any tractor using a 3PT hitch. I have a subcompact without rear hydraulic ports currently but my next tractor will have those. For working with a tiller or rear blade I suspect that item will be a real handy option.
It is a very neat setup. This video was taken back in the summer and I have uses it quite a bit. I can get over how useful it is when using the rotary cutter.
Thanks Tony. I thought the procedure was going to be more of a task but apparently not. Thanks for the walk & talk-thru. It appears pretty simple to install. Fine video, as always. Enjoyed a full-watch.
I opted for the hydraulic top link when I got my Kioti. I love it. Awesome for my rfm which has flexible mount for the top link. Allows you to raise the mower higher with a pull on the lever.
Pulling the lever to raise the implement is standard protocol in the heavy equipment industry. I'd never be able to get used to a valve working backwards on anything after decades of seat time.
Thanks for sharing Tony! That is a great thing to have it for a quick hitch system. I am planning to have it on the old Case. That will be easier for my back to have a 3pt quick hitch and an adjustable top link. Thanks!
Nice instructive video Tony. How about taking the top link and reversing it 180 degrees. This would put your hose connections to the cylinder out towards your implement. Of course just loosen the fittings and move the hoses to run towards the tractor along the length of the top of the cyclinder. This would use more hose which you have plenty of and maybe make one less wrap of extra hose and keep them away from binding against anything. Just my thought and observation. You're lucky with the heat. I'm looking out the window of my house this morning and it's 10 degrees out with about a foot of snow or "white mud" as I call it. But the MT125 makes short work of it. Thanks again for taking your time to set up the camera and film another interesting project. Best regards sir.
That video was taken back in the summer. It has rained for 4 days here and the ground is so wet. I probably will not get to move a tractor for a while. Muddy mucky mess.
I just watched a video of a guy using a winch to drag out his tractor from the hold of mud and muck. But you'll get your chance to move some white mud sooner or later. Enjoy the rain. I wish it was raining here as it wouldn't be so darn cold then. :-)
Tony and others. I'm a newbie tractor compact tractor owner, so forgive my questions. The question I have is, whenever you add a new hydraulic implement, like this hydraulic top link, 1) Where do you add the quick disconnects where the other end of the hose connects to? Also, do you have to add levers to manipulate the hydraulic attachment (i.e. top link, etc..) each time you add a hydraulic attachment? Thank you for your time. Thanks for the video, Tony! VR, David D.
Not all tractors come with rear remotes. Rear remotes are a secondary set of hydraulic circuits with a valve to control them from the seat. Most tractor manufacturers have a kit that you can add if your tractor doesn't already have rear remotes.
That is really nice Tony. When i ordered my J. Deere i had them install two dual rear remotes and dual detent valves. I would never known they were called detent, until I seen you install this on your LS. That hydraulic Top Link is sure nice. I'll have to get me one, thanks Tony.
Great video 👍 Nice upgrade to the rear 3 point. I have a spare set of pallet forks and another future project that will require our tractors to get hydraulic top links. Thanks for sharing the details.
This video was nice, but I'm not sure what you're pulling & pushing to operate the top link. I just got a T25 & I'm a little skittish messing with things.
Man! That is nice to have on a tractor! That was a fast install! It looks like it will work great for you Tony! Enjoyed the watch! Have a good one my friend!
Curious how it would have worked if the hydraulic fittings that attached to the top link had been directed away from the tractor vs toward the tractor? Seems like it would eliminate the need to loop the hoses.
Is the double acting section reversible? remove it and turn it around so the larger section is in the back. Per AMA USA you can turn it around if you wish.
Tony I am a novice with a tractor and some toys. But what control is operating the hydraulic top link. I have watched two videos and none have shown me what control is controlling it.
OUTSTANDING, you have never heard that before have you.good deal i need one for mine too ,they are a big help lineing up to your implements and on the box scrape.
Do you happen to know if this can be done on the smaller MT122/MT125 tractors? I'd guess so since they are capable of a backhoe attachment, but figured I'd ask and see your thoughts.
@@TonysTractorAdventure I must not have them on my subcompact. I have a lever for the loader, and a lever for the 3pt hitch. I don't have any other levers. Some tractors must come with extra levers for that stuff??? I have a 2012 Yanmar sc2450
I would be worried that the fittings would collide with something at the top of the hitch travel. Always watch carefully and move all calendars to their limits before using. Sooner or later you will move hydraulics to their limits.
@@TonysTractorAdventure Thanks. I'm working on the finance committee to get rear remotes installed. Since I have started using a box blade, I feel that the hydraulic top link would be money well spent.
Here are a couple of other things to "consider": 1) Unless you're in the landscaping business or the like and can justify the expense, and unless you already have a valve and connections free on your tractor, you are going to spend upwards of $600 for an install if you do it yourself. 2) Unless you have a hydraulic shop nearby (I actually got everything made up at my local Carquest Auto parts), you're in for a world of hurt trying to find hoses, connections, cylinder, valve, etc. TSC was no help and didn't have all the parts on hand and the local Massey Ferguson dealer could only provide specific parts and only by ordering them. Bottom line, yeah, if you're a landscaper or contractor then go for it. If all you're doing is grading a 50' driveway, the cost and headaches don't justify the install IMO.
I think you may have misunderstood the cost. A hydraulic top link cost is in the range of $200. Most tractors this size come standard with rear remotes. I don't follow your logic. If a person is going to spend $15-20k plus on a tractor, then even $600 does seem a stretch. It is one of the best additional items for tractor owners.
Hi Tony, Adding a hy. top link and a hy. flail mower. Mower needs 4 hy. connections. I am investigating loader valve power beyond to rear remotes that I do not have. Checked with Summit. Can you recommend which hy. kit I should install? Branson 2400H. THANKS!
The Summit kit for the John Deere 1025 R will work with a bit of modification. You will hook it in between the loader and the rear 3 point hitch pressure line. I don't know your tractor, but all hydraulics work the same.
Your tractor has a backhoe? Mine does too but there’s 3 hydraulic ports. I want to add hydraulic top link but my tractor doesn’t have a lever or switch to control it. I did love it.
That is a great way to operate and control your implements. Nice work.
Thank you. This video was taken back in the summer. I still really like this and I believe it will work for years.
Would it put less wear on the your hydraulic hoses if you installed the top link the other way around?
It depends on each tractor and implement.
Where did you get the rear remote kit?
Dealer
Good video. Now I want rear remotes
It adds versatility.

Sure, it doesn't matter to me. The cylinder is stronger than needed.
I definitely appreciate the video, thank you!
Glad it was helpful.
Good evening Sir, very nice idea in deed for that top link !!! Cheers !!!
Thank you my friend.
What actual lever are you using to activate it? Pre-existing or one from a kit?
OEM rear remote. They sell the kit to install it.

Does your tractor have the rear remote ports on the back?

Good job. looks like it will work great for you
Thank you my friend. It is very handy
Do you lose any horse power to the wheels or PTO with the addition of rear remotes and/or hydraulic attachments?
Not at all.

what controls the toplink? I see the hydraulic lines, but what lever causes it to move?
The rear remote valve controls

I have never had a problem with it. Still using the Top links on my TYM Tractors.
How have you liked the top link? Any issues with it?
I use it all the time. Everything works to this point. It has more range if I remove my quick hitch. I used it in my last video with the wood chipper.

I have an LS 3037H and I’ve been looking for a top link that actually works. Now that you have used it is it a good product?
The Top link has outlasted the LS. LOL! I sold the LS and I use the toplink on my 48hp TYM. It has never failed.
FYI, above top link not available on Amazon.
Thank you. That is an old video. Maybe they will start offering it again.
Hey Tony, how's the hydraulic top link working out, is the extension length ok or do you think 8+ inches would work better?
