Book 41, Number 5251: Narrated by Umn Atiyyah al-Ansariyyah:
A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The prophet (SAW), said to her:
Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable to a husband.
Female Circumcision... for the Purity of humans for Allah against the animals.
Muhammad (SAW), did not forbid female circumcision and approved it. But he advised not to cut too much of the clitoris.
Those days environment was different and wat people eat were also different,now there are more risk to it because most of the food we eat are not 100% organic and is hurting our immune system,not to mention the various infections and blood transmitted diseases we are exposed to where not existing at that time. In Islam what ever you are eating that is Halal if it also brings health risk to your live becomes haram for you. If the exposure to health risk by this practice is getting higher now a days than they were in earlier times,People are allowed to look into it and amend it. Preserving human life is much more important in Islam than traditional believes that is why it is stated that to save one human life is like saving the whole of humanity

Musa Sambou those days the food people eat were different from what we eat now which is not 100%organic and is already harming our immune system. The bacterias,infections,virus and blood transmitted diseases that exist now did not exist back then. Even in Islam if the food that is Halal to eat if it makes u sick becomes haram to you. If this practice is posing danger and new threats that were not there before then society is allowed to reform because in Islam human live is much more important than traditional practices. This is why it is stated that to save one life is like saving the whole of humanity and to kill one innocent life is like killing the whole of humanity. Islam allows positive reforms that saves lives and build society.
