That would be so cool if everything just slipped out and sounded so nice like in this video. However Springfield XDM are notoriously a pain in the ass! Great video!
Thank you for making this. I was getting intimidated going a few steps past the standard field strip but this so clearly explained what I was missing I don’t even think I can screw this up now
I too find these videos far better than some old guy talkin about how his uncle back in the day used to do something wierd while filming in 360 p with poor lighting and using his pinky as a pointer while inaccurately describing gun parts.
1:35 bullshit. I've been trying to do this for THREE HOURS. Why the fuck would Springfield design it like this? Are they sadistic? Honestly I don't care anymore. I'm gonna leave this in a pile of parts and never look back. it's not even worth it.
@@ryanburick2258 I FINALLY got the mag release spring back in after fiddling for a few more hours because the sprint twists and shifts out of the way inside that crook, where the only thing to keep it in place under all that high tension is the bar that's running through it, and it's impossible to hold it in place deep in there where it's hard to get to. The back of the mag release is hollow, which means the spring can just squeeze through it every time. I'm currently working on the next step, which is the grip safety pin. The spring inside of that is notched inward, which makes it impossible to get the pin back inside of it since that spring is in the way and just trying to hammer it through anyway won't solve it, and oh boy have I tried. I had to cut a notch into my punch tool so I could twist it and shift the spring out of the way in order to get the pin back in there. And that's after finding a way to keep the spring in place because the slot that the spring goes in is hollow in the back so when you push it against the wall it tries to squeeze all the way through it. I'm still scared of what I'm up against next once that's done. I lost the pin somewhere in the room when I was going at it so I've got my punch tool holding everything in place while I order a new pin.
yeah ok. Good one. TU. but what part gets cleaned. do we spray all the inside parts with WD40 and put it back together and do the same for bullets and inside mag. or use carb cleaner first and then WD40. what about adding lithium grease.
Well I've had my XDM 40 for 6 years and I put a total of 3,000 - 4,000 rounds thru it with absolutely no FTF'S, none whatsoever. That's the kind of reliability I want from all my guns yet this is the only one that's has worked perfectly for me. I don't know if I'm the exception but it works great!

it really is crazy when Berettas and many others are less complicated.
