That Technigold sure did well for it's age, Gabriel! Always interesting to watch your videos. Now onto more SPEED! I have currently hit a wall with my attempts, 40mph may be as far as I can go. I'm sure you will beat that my friend! Good luck! 💪👊😎👍

Yeah not bad for this antique motor 😁 Not easy to reach 40 with Tamiya motors 😥 As they are "old" and a lot are not sporting the common end bell, very difficult to freshen them up 😵 Thanks 🤝

It's an old motor. Maybe with fresher brushes and a fresh cut commutator... Also, I wonder if my test strip is too short and that's why a lot are topping at 25 🤔

I had a huge stall at 22mph for a while.
Looking forward to what motors you bring out next 😊

Not as vintage, but for sure faster this time 😉

    Delightful!!
Technigolds are my favourite motors of all time.... though they cannot compete with the modern brushed alternatives unfortunately.
Despite being 21 turn, they still produce substantially less rpm than a 23 turn superstock RZ, even when fitted with new brushes and a freshly cleaned commutator.
But, they are soooo smooth, so well built and emit a sound that is music to the ears.
Many still survive to this day, which is testament to their design.... although it's getting very hard (and expensive) finding new brushes for them now.
I'm still running 5 or 6 vintage Technigolds in :
959 x2, Celica GRB, vintage Astute, re re lunchbox and an original monster beetle!
A true nostalgic icon from every rc kid that grew up in the golden era of RC!
Been really enjoying this series fella, very well produced, and easy to follow. 🙏 👍 👍 👍

It was the motor to have, for sure 😉 I remember it was quite nippy in the 959 and Celica that I restored almost 2 years ago, maybe too much because of the fragility of this chassis 😮🤝

Definitely mate..... It was a great match for that small light chassis back in the day.
But like you say, those cars were so fragile.
My first 959 back in 89 was broken more than it was running!
I also restored a Celica and 959 to as new condition a few years back with new old stock parts, after all these years the ABS is as fragile as glass!
The projects nearly bankrupt me, but they are pride of joy in the shelf collection now!
The runner 959 I built recently gets run regularly, and in all fairness is pretty reliable since upgrading to aluminium arms and hubs.
We have a few videos up of the fully restored ones at Green Hawks RC if interested.
They are true icons despite all their issues!
      👍 👍 👍

Wow Gabe, nice vintage motors there man. Brother you ain't kidding about old motors, they are not cheap for a nice one but still, magnets get weak over time and no one makes an affordable magnet zapper (I knew I should have bought one years ago), or is selling one cheap. It sure does seen your stuck at 25, time to bring out the big guns.....

That's the issue with a lot of old Tamiya Motor, quite strange (or not common) end bell. So parts are scarce and expensive. But, it's a fraction for "scientific" research and the rest for fun. Next video, the caliber is bigger, bye bye 25 😁🤝
