My grandmother inspired my love of quilting, I remember her having quilting parties with a quilt hanging from the ceiling. Ladies setting all around quilting and teaching us young girls how to quilt. My Mom taught me to sew and cross stitch. I have such sweet memories with each of them.
I began cross-stitching when I was 12. I picked it back up after 20 years in 2022. I began quilting in 1997. I love both! I am teaching my friend how to quilt. It’s a blessing to share the stitchy goodness !
My mom Taught me to embroider as a child and I picked up cross stitch in the 80’s, and rediscovered it a couple of years ago. A very good online friend, that I’ve never met in real life, inspired and helped me learn to quilt about 15 years ago. And I have since got her started cross stitching.
When I was a little child, I would play under the quilt frames that my Grandmother was quilting on. She would show me and then helped me make a doll quilt. My Mom taught me to sew at around 8 yrs old. I made my clothes growing up. I made quilts with my Mom. She also taught me and my Sisters to crochet, knit and all hand crafts. I learned how to do Cross Stitch, then taught my Mom. Thanks for a fun video!
I loved spending time with my Grandma when I was in middle school. She would take me to the local Senior Center where they had classes in knitting, crochet, sewing, embroidery and art. This is where I got my love of crafting and creating. From then on, I loved trying all the things. My girls were never too interested in crafting, but I now have granddaughters who love to come and have “Crafternoons with Grammy”. I’m so blessed. Thanks for the great videos. You’re so inspiring!
I taught myself at age 5 on my grandmother’s peddle singer sewing machine. I remember it was in a very large room downstairs in a very large farm house. There was no heat upstairs. When we spent the night, we would sleep under three or four quilts. It was a very cold winter that year. You could see your breath in your bed. Those were the good old days. Lol. Love your shows❤️❤️❤️. Happy Galentines!
My mom got me into quilting when I was a teenager. Did not pick it up again for a few years and now I love it I am 68 years old. I used to help teach sewing at our local elementary school where my daughter went to school. The teacher and I did this for many years we did it every Friday afternoon for about an hour. The first thing we taught them was a nine patch pillow
I took a class in needlework when I was in my early thirties, but I started quilting when I was around twenty. I really enjoy cross stitching in the morning and quilting in the afternoon. Thank you for sharing so many beautiful items that you have in your shop. I love everything. Have a wonderful week. Diane
I’m so excited to hear my name called. I started at 6 sewing on my grandma’s treadle, embroidery at about 7, counted cross at 12, knitting at eight with a pen and a pencil for needles and scrap yarn I borrowed from a neighbor. I do just about every craft and I am always helping both young and old learn
My mom taught me to sew at a young age and I decided to make my first quilt the summer of my freshman year of college. My twin daughters have taking up quilting as well and have made many quilts for themselves and their friends.
I recently watched a video on slow stitching, it was so interesting. My Mother and I learned to cross stitch together when I was in High School, she was an amazing at sewing and crochet. Thanks Janine
My mom taught me to sew. But I think I learned more by watching her. I started learning at around 4. I learned to design clothes in the 5th grade when we were studying American Indians. We were assigned to create a dress using a sheet. Our classmate traced our bodies on paper and we added our seam allowance as well as fringe . We also colored symbols on paper and iron transferred the symbols onto our dresses. ( the boys made shirts) We then had a feast and a fashion show in our classroom for other students to learn about our American Indians. Such a wonderful memory ❤
My Aunt taught me to cross stitch when I was about 15. I did it for many years and then it took a backseat to scrapbooking. Now I’m back in it and love it. I just got a sewing machine last summer and have made a few home decor items but will try a quilt soon.
I’m in Mississippi and it was 80 degrees today! I started stitching in Girl Scouts in elementary school and have the patch to prove it. lol My mom taught me how to cross stitch and sew. I taught my daughter and a dear friend.
I started sewing in 4h and quit for a few years and started quilting in about 2004. Cross stitched in the 80’s when the country look was in. (Ducks and bears). Even cross stitched on sweatshirts. Quit for a few years and then started during covid year for therapy!😊
All your quilting pieces are tempting me to clean up my sewing area to start a quilt project ◡̈. Slow stitching? That sounds like me in a nut shell - giggle, giggle snort!!! I love you ladies. I get all inspired to stitch when I watch you! Thanks so much.
I have always had the need to learn. My Grandmother taught me to knit as a young child of 5. I have been learning since then. I craft everyday. I have not done any slow stitching.❤
I started sewing in 7 th grade in home economics class. Yes, I have taught a beginner quilt class at a local quilt shop…plus anyone who asked like neighbors, children and friends. I didn’t start cross stitching till I was married, so 45 years ago. I have never done the big stitch…just not into that at all. Thank you for your news cast stories…always a hoot 🦉!!! Love ❤ seeing everything new on your videos. Hugs 🤗
So my mom used to rip up old sheets into blocks and hand drew letters on them for me to learn how to cross stitch, so maybe I was four years old. I did a canning jar quilt hanging and did slow stitching in half inch increments….just lines across the width, and hung it in my kitchen. The slow stitching looks very vintage. I enjoyed working on while I watched tv at night.
My grandmother taught me how to do huck toweling when I was in 4th grade. My mother taught me how to cross stitch when I was in 5th grade and my first chart was a Winnie the Pooh pattern. When 7th grade rolled around, I took sewing lessons at a local quilt store. When I was high school, my grandmother taught me how to crochet. The creative muse is definitely something to share and cultivate with the younger generation! I am going to teach my great niece how to cross stitch when I see her this summer -- she will be a rising 5th grader. Thanks for sharing your stories and all the inspiration!
My grandmother was a needleworker and I learned from her. I started with embroidery and then to quilting and crosstitch. I taught Family and Consumer Science for many years and taught many student how to use a needle and sew my hand and machine. It is my relaxation and stress relief. Thanks for a great video.
I started sewing around 6 on a child size SInger sewing machine. I started with making doll clothes. As I grew my interests moved to quilting and embroidery. My youngest daughter also took up sewing but more into designing rather than actual sewing.
I took Home Economics all through my high school years, which was 1970-1974. My mom was a wonderful seamstress and therefore also learned a lot from her. In 1987, at the age of 30, I took my first quilting class and fell in love with this art. I have taught one daughter how to quilt along with several friends.
I started sewing and cross stitching in high school. I love all the Valentines projects, the colors make me feel so happy! Thanks for the video always like listening to you!!
My Mom was the one who got me interested in handicrafts and sewing and quilting ! She tried a little of every craft and taught us knitting ,crocheting and embroidery ! She loved to hand quilt and I had a grandmother who always had a quilt up in her house to hand quilt !!!
I began stitching cross stitch in my 20’s and started quilting right around 40. My mother in law introduced me to both over the years, and I have always loved all things crafty. Quilting has been my FAVORITE for sure, and have embarked on some big stitch projects for finishing home decor stuff and 💕 the look!
I learned to cross stitch before I learned to sew. I was around 7 or 8. I really didn't pick up quilting until I was 20. I have helped a random person off of Facebook to begin quilting. I'm currently matching a background color to some charm packs. My 6 yr old picked them to sew a heart quilt! I do Thursday slow down named Sip Tea and EPP. There is no tea for me, but I'm slowing down and doing any handwork.
I started quilting in college when my roommate showed me how to make the bow tie block. I started cross stitching at about age 10 on a printed quote” This is my room and as you can see, I keep it as neat as it can be”😊
My dad taught me to embroider when I was seven years old. His mother, grandmother and grandfather were all embroiders. My sister taught me to sew doll clothes the same year. I’m 73 now and still sew, quilt and do all types of needlework. I taught family, friends and children to cross stitch. I owned a cross stitch shop in the eighties and taught many people to cross stitch during that time. Looking forward to teaching my great granddaughter to cross stitch, embroider and quilt. Loved all your projects today! Shirley
I was about 11 when my mom taught me how to embroider. My grandmother taught me how to knit at the same age. My real love is cross stitch but back then about 50 years ago there wasn't much to choose from. Today the choices are overwhelming and I'll never be able to finish all my patterns in my lifetime and i'm ok with that. 💕
I made my first quilt in a quilting class in High School 1979. Crossed stitching I struggled with completing when my kids were little so my mother always completed my “starts”. No slow stitching here
I learned to cross stitch when I was about 10. I since have picked up embroidery, needlepoint, quilting, wool appliqué and English paper piecing. Question, what is a good hoop to use when cross stitching on linen? Or any advice about stitching on linen. I have tried various hoops but when I take it out of the hoop the threads are distorted.
I started quilting when I was about 28. My first quilt was a whole cloth baby quilt. I made a template of my daughter’s hand and hand quilted her little handprints into the quilt. It’s a treasure! She is now a sewist herself! I’m really looking forward to your Galentines event. I would like to know what the quilt is that is hanging off the counter in the background. It looks like it is a valentine mailbox?
What are people using the mini charms for? I think they are cute, but don't know how to use them! I started to sew at about 9. Also did some stitching kits about the same time.
Family Search...nooo...your stuff will always be there... especially after you die!!!Whatever you put on your memories, no one can see what you've put on there until you die. Then it opens up to everyone after you die.

I started sewing when I was in high school (apparel) and began cross stitching in my early twenties.
I started cross-stitching a few years ago after I learned how to knit. I have never really embroidered but I have kits to learn and try it out!

I love watching you but could you get the camera closer I cannot see what you are showing at all especially the fabric bundles.
