    It was awesome to see Everett with one on one time with Dad! That was so enjoyable to watch, you two were kicking some fishy butt!! Every time you would say the temperature was going up I kept say to myself, wrap things up & get off the ice, over & over! I'm so thankful that lessons were learned, and Dad is man enough to admit it. This will be a great learning tool for your children in the future...as long as we learn from them!!! Thank you, Mark & Everett!!! 🌼

      Once I started drilling, I realized the ice was actually about 30” thick. You could drive a semi on that thickness. I doubt our heater had any impact on the ice strength.
      I definitely learned a few things and next time will be even better. I think the rest of the boys will be clamoring to come as well.

    • @AlaskaBoys
      @AlaskaBoys 2 роки тому +3

      Having the right gear is really important to being able to get out at -15. It’s taken a number of years to get the right gear, buts sure nice to have now. The weather change was so sudden it really suppressed me. I think it was. New weather system that came in really fast over the mountains from the gulf of Alaska. I think that’s why it warmed up so dramatically. Ironically. When we drive a half hour home it was back to -10.

    Mark and Everett, what an Adventure!!! I was caught up in a near Tornado in my car, I chose to seek cover inside a building and in route a huge minute long gust, made it impossible to move. I was running as fast as I could and it seemed like I was moving in slow motion. When I got to the door, I could not open it because the wind was blowing towards it. Luckily a Woman inside opened it. I was hit by a bunch of roofing and wooded boards Luckily just a bruise on the meaty part of my forearm. I can attest to wind picking up in a second. I am so happy you both are ok. It is truly the definition of getting the wind knocked out of you. But I like your insight when the wind picks up on your sail. But who even knows if the stakes would have worked. Everett will remember this and will always remember Dad taught him to remain cool.
    The fishing was awesome. And Everett is becoming a great Fisherman like his Big Brother Hunter. I wish I would have learned to fish more. And it looked so delicious. You are the greatest Dad. I am so excited to see Hunters Bday overnight trip. He is a wonder to watch. Do you have old footage when Hunter was Everett's age? I love this one on one time. What an awesome adventure. Thanks for taking me along. Can't wait for Gary to see. Big hugs #1 Dad

      That sounds terrifying Marcella. Thankfully in this case we were just frightened and nothing was really hurt. Thank you for all your kind words, it was fun to get out with Everett on his own.
      I used to do this often with the older boys but we didn’t film those adventures. Just photos and good memories of those trips.
      Lake Louise with the older boys was a real adventure. We will try to have the video edited by next week. I learned a bunch on that trip and hope to do another overnight trip in a few weeks.
