Classic California ladies skating. You can spot them from a mile away. There's just a finish to them. From Kwan to Bobek to Nikodinov to Gold (w/Frank Carrol) to Alysa. It's natural and beautiful to watch.
She retured because she wanted to finish school and basically have a normal teenage life. But She just yesterday posted about what could possibly be a return to the ice….
I remember the years leading up to the Beijing 2022 Olympics, in the US, we were so confident she was our weapon against the Russian women's skaters. Then she got fat, but it wasn't acceptable to critique bodies, so we just didn't care work on keeping her weight down, and she lost all her quads, barely hung onto a triple axel (she didn't attempt it in her short, and under-rotated it in the free). Ended up not even being a medal contender, much less the Russia destroyer we hyped her up to be. But sure, "breathtaking."
You're disgusting lmao. She didn't get "fat", she grew up. That's what happens when you jump ultra c's as a kid and rely completely on fast rotation, it just simply won't be possible to maintain that when you grow up. It's not her fault, it's the fault of her coaches for teaching and encouraging technique that obviously wasn't going to be sustainable. If you actually thought she was going to be able to compete with the Russians, then that's on you for being stupid and naive lol. It was obvious from the beginning that her jumps wouldn't last.
The way she always smiles makes her skate 100x more beautiful.
Alysa, welcome back! U are so amazing
