Today we get a little more honest than I normally do about a piece of merchandise. I appreciate the new photocards and the care that seems to have went into those, however, I can't help but feel like everything else missed the mark. With Dicon and D'festa merchandise being new for Stray Kids this year, it's nice to get an opinion now so I know for next time whether I'll find myself purchasing it.
I'd love to hear your thoughts about this and if you agree or disagree with me! I am thankful the kids were chosen to be apart of the celebration and this has been a little bit of an eye opener that you don't always have to grab everything the group you love participates in.

i totally agree with the design and stuff! lol gives me nickelodeon vibes 😖and the actual photos in the photobook are really nice but the layouts for some of them really screamed “graphic design is my passion” to me idk 😫 lol

I had the EXACT same thoughts about the design and layout for the photobook! The photo shoot was amazing and I like the photos.. but the layout is absolutely awful. That's why I decided to not get the photobook when I saw some unboxings for normal and the mini edition 'cause my designer and photographer heart just couldn't handle it :''')
Thank you for such an in depth review!! I just got mine in yesterday and I really enjoyed the PCs, I ended up not sleeving the PCs though to fit the album , which kills me but I’d rather use the binder than not at all 😪 totally agree with you though about the overall design elements, wasn’t my absolute favorite but our boys killed the photo shoot and I enjoyed the dynamics of each PC for sure. Overall a very nice and honest review 😊
Call me party pooper but whenever you get more than 10 pcs and its a mix of concept and selfies in the same product it just looks like fanmade pcs and it cheapens it out for me.
Also the color choices and fonts 🤢, i get the font since all the groups names are written in the same font and i guess its to keep it all coherent but comeon 😔
Edit: this is such a money grab 😭 the exclusive pcs should have been selfies 😭😭😭

No, I totally get that! I definitely feel like some of the photocards give off "freebie vibes". It's a thin line to walk, tbh. Also, I think even with all the groups following that kind of experimental type, it overall was not the move. Some look better than others (Twice and NCT like I brought up) but it was just not a great choice.
For you edits - yes. The whole concept of both the Dicon sets felt like a money grab. The fact they split it amongst members instead of full groups had me feeling like that from the start. And they really expect fans to just store the photocards in the order they were packed?? That's such "inside the box" thinking. Even in the order they were packed in made no sense. Those spreads and aesthetics would have been all over 🙃 stick to a single back next time!!
I really love your channel because of your honest reviews even if its more "cynical". I am very very new to stray kids and kpop collecting. I have limited myself to collecting albums and album photocards OT8 and only pick up things outside of that that I really love and want in my home-
it can be sooooo easy to get fomo with how much goes out- and this is one of the things I was considering purchasing because of the fomo alone- but I may just pick up the pc's secondhand somewhere help a stay get some money back😅

I get the fomo feeling! Skz has been releasing so much it's kind of like you have to pick and chose these days. I definetly have already seen some member sets for sale on instagram, so I bet you could find them if you were looking!
I'm glad that my thoughts are helpful! 💛 I obviously dont want to be harsh, but at the same time, I dont want to lie if I'm not satisfied with something and sometimes unboxings can just focus on how pretty something is rather than if that prettiness was worth the money. If I can help in some way in deciding whether something is worth being in your collection or not, that makes me happy to hear 😊
You can DIY the binder to make it a ring binder! I’ve seen it get done with the In life album packaging. And For the design on the back I really do feel like it had to do on the order they where in when they got packaged. So when you changed the order so did the back. Hoefully I’m making sense
Oh yeah! I definitely have seen those done with albums before! If I had more than one copy, I think I would consider it, but since I just have the one, I'm personally particular about "preserving" the items in my collection, so I'll probably just leave it as is. But those DIY binders usually come out so cool!

i totally agree with you! i don’t even know exactly what this event was, there isn’t a single footage of the perfomances out yet (and it’s been a year already) and suddenly there was all this merch being released one after another 😖 it’s tiring! and i like orange but i agree that the color choices was questionable for the group itself bc even tho twice’s it’s a good fitting light pink, for bts they also chose a light orange that has nothing to do with the group (and that was the reason i decided not to get theirs this year) 🤧 i only bought twice’s!
but for me, my main complaining it’s the binder! last year bts also had this 100 pcs with a mini binder and it was so much better quality. it was a 6 ring binder and it came with a bunch of sleeves, it was really the best! i thought they would do the same this year but i guess this was the cheapest option considering how many groups they had to do this type of merch lol but i rlly don’t like the fact that we can’t take the sleeves out and that they aren’t pvc free :( i don’t wanna risk it putting my card in there, so i’ll probably only use it to store my freebies and fanmades (which sucks bc i was really expecting smtg better) :/
What you described for what they did for BTS previsouly is what I really hoped this would be like. You are probably right though in that these glue-in cheaper binders were more available for the demand they had to meet for all the groups, which is a shame. Could have upped the price a bit if it meant higher quality products. That's a good idea to use this for unofficial cards! Maybe if I get sick of this binder bulging at the seams, I'll do that as well!
I think at the D'Festa exhibition there was a movie (?) played that had perfoamces and behind the scenes things of all the groups, but obviously if you dont live in korea, you would never see that so we'll probably never see the media content that was made for it. We just get the post merch that is confusing as to what it actually is and for, haha.
I totally agree the orange color here looks a little ridiculous,the twice has a very beautiful design yes 100 is good, but the design itself sucks so I don't think I'll buy it😢

i totally agree! the orange color makes me urk and the blue confuses me🤔the font gives subway surfers vibes and that does not go with the skz aesthetic or anyone rlly :( like who thought it was a good idea to put san serif and serif font together?? it can be executed differently BUT not like this 😒
Very, very true. Combining san serif and serif can be done, but it has to be done so carefully and in the appropriate context...which this was not 😂😅

Hi, Jess! Thank you for the video, I was so curious about the PCs; they look amazing! I agree that the color and font choices are bad, it is a shame. But the Channie photo in the front and 102 PCs made me treat myself, so I bought one too! However, kpopmarket01 didn't receive it upon release. They said around mid-December they would. So I'm waiting and hoping that my Christmas gift for myself arrives before the end of the year. But chances are only the beginning of 2023.
And I love how you set it all up! I also don't feel comfortable not sleeving the cards so I might put 2 or 3 sets in my big binder so I can put the DICON binder in a standing position on my shelf.
It's probably a good call and smart to seperate the sets between different binders. I honestly think I may have to do that here before too long as it is just too overfilled. But I'm the same way, I wouldn't feel comfortable with the cards being in there not sleeved 😖
The 102 cards really were the treat of the release! I think that's kind of where all the cost of this set went to, haha. I hope that yours will get to you so soon! Waiting on delays is always so hard, but it will be a good end of year/beginning of year treat when it finally arrives~~
@@straystarlight It arrived yesterday, Jan 5! I put it all in my regular binder and in my Channie mini binder I put my freebies from SKZ. Since they don't need sleeves, it looks good in there.
Before storing, I thought, at least the backs would be all orange and all blue. But I was so wrong! They mismatched some sets for Channie and Han, and for the sets that they are using the same outfit, the face shot and the regular shot were mixed for some members. At least pages some are spelling Stray Kids in the back now. Anyway, it was a great purchase, the PCs are stunning and I'm so glad to have more of Channie's items.
These colors is the reason why I haven't ordered even though 100 photocards were so tempting. And the back of the cards... Just why😩

mine definitely is missing a page or 2 because I cannot get all the PC's in. I did almost the same setup with sorting by outfits, and I cannot get the last set of orange ones in and i had to leave out 4 pcs because i don't have enough pages. and that's not including the special Dicon PCs
After I posted this, I saw a few other people online with the same issue with missing pages! Which is so disappointing! The binder overall could have been better quality, but to see that it's not even quality controlled in some cases...side eye 😑

I love all your videos!! Even though I agree with the design, I kinda wish I was able to purchase with the photocards, but definitely agree on if I would be getting it next time
I think anything with photocards is so tempting, hence why I ended up with both the large dicon and this mini set. They got me with that haha but like you said, it's good to also gauge where money goes with these kind of things and I think I'm going to need to see some significant improvement before I buy the next iteration if they do one!
Are this minis better than albums in your opinion? I've thought of maybe buying one of this or just buying alot of albums
I mean, it depends on what you are looking for. If you want a lot of photocards of with guaranteed every member all at once, these mini sets are the way to go. But if you want something related to the albums, then albums is your way to go. I will say, to my knowledge, these minis are sold out and will not be restocked as they were a preorder item, so you wouldn't be able to find them unless they were being resold most likely. So in that aspect as well, it would be easier to get your hands on albums + album pcs. You have to weigh what you think you would be better suited for your collection wants! ✨
im not really sure if you wanna try since it will be a lot of work and alot of excess sleeves but popcorn does a soft version of the sleeves which are like half as thick(?) if that makes sense. so probably won’t be as thick! tysm for this vry vry informative video haha

No. I recommend sleeving any official pc before storing it in this binder

Are the photocards thicker than the previous Dicon 101?
Stray Kids are the only group I collect and with this being their first time with Dicon, I dont have a frame of reference to previous editions. The photocards feel no different than any other photocard. The two extra chan pcs are the only different ones and they are thicker, almost like a lucky draw.

I'm not sure. I would say that it would be unlikely as these were orginally preorder items...you may be able to find it for resale but I dont think it will ever "officially" be restocked
