My actual favorite group of all time. Still to this day. Of the biggest bands labeled grunge, AIC was the heaviest. This is their most well-known song. One night years go I heard a bar band covering it somewhere down the street. Lead singer Layne Staley is an idol of mine for his serious rock style. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell is a great player in a bluesy vein. Their songs always pack a punch.
Layne Staley is one of my all time favorite singers. He had great range and his voice was powerful! Jerry Cantrell on guitar also did a lot of the singing for this band. He just released a new album which is also very good. Do a deep dive on this band. It is worth it.
Stax man, believe it or not this was released before Nirvana's first hit Smell's Like Teen Spirit, which is credited to be the song that kicked off grunge. Nirvana is awesome, but to me AIC is the real grunge pioneer. Grunge itself is really 80's alternative that finally hit the mainstream, a number of bands like AIC, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day and the Chili Peppers were already steering it that direction. Before Nirvana blew the lid off it was really a sweet underground scene with some amazing music which you could catch primarily on college radio stations. It was one hella fun time.
OH SHIT🔥🔥🔥! You are going down the rabbit hole with them! So many excellent songs, I don’t think they have a bad one honestly! “Would” is my personal favorite, but Rooster, Nutshell, Rain When I Die, Brother, and literally all of their others are excellent. Yes they are Grunge, one of the big four. Enjoy the ride. If you ever question what the lyrics mean, there was a lot of pain and drug use going on and this was their outlet. Can’t wait for more from you with AiC!
O.G. grunge! AIC have many, many great tracks, to experience some raw vocal talent Love Hate Love live at The Moore, already suggested multiple times is a true banger.
Alice In Chains has lots of great songs. "Rooster" is probably their most famous song. The algorithm brought me here from the Beastie Boys reactions. Here's some 90s era rock that might be up your alley for reacting to: Limp Bizkit - Stink Finger Tool - Stinkfist Offspring - Nitro (Youth Energy) Soundgarden - Outshined Deftones - My Own Summer (Shove It) love the channel.
Check AIC live performances! That's where they really shine with Stanly crazy voice! Bleed the Freak live is crazy. Show they did in Seattle early 90's
Greatest alternative band, next you should try "Again" almost no one (not that I had seen ) has ever reacted to it or "A Little Bitter", those 2 songs haven't gotten the credit they deserve, at least with rectors since people always request any other song from them and I'm glad, don't get me wrong, is just that every reactor is missing out on those songs and being Alice In Chains you know is excellent material for you channel, please do, thanks a lot man!!
Love AIC!! Badazz band. R.I.P. Layne Staley. Dude had a banger voice. You gotta do "Love Hate Love" live at The Moore. You will be blown away at his vocals! Grunge era was straight up fire. 🔥🔥🔥
Their entire Album "Jar of Flies" is a Masterpiece from start to finish! Another Grunge Band from Seattle and....sadly, Another crazy gifted frontman that has left us way too soon 😢Rip Layne Staley! "Would" next please...
They were initially a funk/ grunge band from Seattle. So many greats came from that region, and that era. The band Heart came from there as well, and Ann Wilson does background vocals on a few of their songs. I was in my 20's when this came out, and am a semi-retired musician/lead singer, and the grunge scene was incredible! Welcome to the rabbit hole. ❤
@@PerseusM76 Those bands were probably the most popular, but I did forget a few. The Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, & Jane's Addiction were also very popular. The Red Hot Chili Peppers weren't necessarily "grunge," but they were right at the beginning of the "Grunge" era adding a bit of California disenchanted flavor to the music scene. I went to college from 1991-1996 (undergrad & graduate school). These were all bands that I listened to in my late teen and early 20s. I hope this helps you to discover older bands of the early 1990s era.
@@PerseusM76 As an aside, check out Smashing Pumpkins' "Bullet with Butterfly Wings!" That song was a "Mosh Pit" Anthem. Once the song gets going you can understand why--hahaha.
About a year and a half ago I started the rabit hole of Alice In Chains because I heard quite a bit of their songs on the radio from the late 90's through the 2000's and liked all of them. I just recently went through Alice In Chains songs and rated them 0-100 and they quickly became my favorite band ever. This is as far as I've gotten so far. -Alice In Chains- Would - 100 Got Me Wrong 100 Down In A Hole - 100 No Excuses - 100 Don't Follow - 100 Sea Of Sorrow - 99 Man In The Box - 98 Rotten Apple - 97 Rooster - 96 Nutshell - 95 Them Bones - 94 We Die Young - 90 Your Decision - 89 Bleed The Freak - 88 Dam That River - 87 I Stay Away - 86 Angry Chair - 86 I Can't Remember - 85 It Ain't Like That - 85? Love Hate Love - 84? Right Turn 84 Over Now - 83 Again - 83 Put You Down - 82? What The Hell Have I - 80? Sludge Factory - 78? So Cose 76? Whale And Wasp - 75? Sunshine - 74? Grind - 73 Brother - 72 Shame In You - 72? Brush Away - 71? I Know Somethin (bout you) - 71 Rain When I Die - 70 Head Creeps - 70 Heaven Beside You - 69 Am I Inside - 69? God Am - 69 Swing On This - 68 Frogs - 67? Nothin' Song - 67 Am I Inside - 66 Real Thing - 66 Confusion - 64 Sickman - 60
That guitar solo gives me Stevie Ray Vaughn vibes! This is "Grunge". The song was released in the summer of 1991, a few months before Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Grunge rock. All grunge bands owe this genre to Nirvana. So many great bands durian this era. Many members, sadly, are no longer with us. Love to see your genuine reaction and that you are open to such a variety of music
CRASH! Always a lovely 'squelch wah wah' guitar riff from these guys. Please don't forget Iron Maiden & their influence on everyone, oh shit, we haven't even got to Motorhead yet...!!!! Ahhh. ❤let's go!! 🇬🇧
You actually got it right real quick. It's supposed to be a song about the record labels trying to censor artist. No idea how you figured that out after one verse and chorus, but good on you.
From the grunge band of the 90's they are my favorit one. Pearl jam or soundgarden and many others have some great albums but i don't like all their releases. But when it comes to alice in chains i like their complet discographie.
First!
My 2nd favorite band.
Maybe check out Alice In Chains "Love, Hate, Love" live - and Rooster (just like Tool, not a bad song in their catalog)
2nd 😂
@@Metal_MaryTOOL for the win (it is subjective).
🙏🙏🙌🏾🙌🏾
1st for me
Love, Hate, Love live at the Moore. Epic. ☮️💜🤘🔥
THIS!!!^🔥🔥🔥
RIP Layne. Check out their MTV unplugged. That would be a cool reaction, the unplugged full set. Nirvana and Pearl Jam’s unplugged performances also.
Gotchaaa
AIC dirt is one of the best Grunge albums hands down imo!! Good reaction, Best album ever!! Rooster 🐓 next!!🤘
🙏🙏🙏🔥🔥
This is from the Facelift album
Top 5 album regardless of genre.

Them Bones is a like a chainsaw going through you. Bought Dirt when it came out as a teenager and was stunned.
Great song😊
R.I.P. Layne Staley, one of the greatest front men ever. Gone WAY too fuckin soon! A legend
🔥🙌🏾🙌🏾
Sooo many great songs. Even after Layne died. RIP

One of the best vocalists on the planet! You HAVE to watch Love Hate Love Live at the Moore Theater in their hometown of Seattle.
Nice pick! Another gem from these guys is I Stay Away. Well worth your time
He’ll yeah!! Rooster and Them Bones would be spectacular!!
The acoustic stuff is amazing too!! 😮❤❤❤
Can't wait!
One of my fave songs by one of my top 3 bands...awesome vocals by Layne, as always.
Mine too!

So many bangers from this album. May as well do a full album reaction.
This was the first song that I heard from Alicein Chains on the radio back in 1990-91 and instantly fell in love with them. Great reaction!

This song has Jerry Cantrel using a “talk-box” guitar effect. He puts a tube in his mouth and uses his voice and guitar to make that effect.

Down in a Hole MTV Unplugged version. AIC is worth a deep dive. RIP Layne.

The founding bands of "Grunge" rock are Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, & Soundgarden.
Are those kind of the only popular grunge bands? I am having trouble thinking of another big band outside of your list.
