Wow, crazy how car rentals vary prices like that. We thought we were going crazy, but we just experience the same here in Romania. You guys are from a wonderful, beautiful country, it is hard to think about cleaner air than there indeed. Guys, what a beautiful place, it reminds us a lot about Alaska, the nature is unbeatable in New Zealand Beautiful Airbnb as always you guys are always picking awesome and dreamy, one-of-a-kind places. You should definitely try to visit Glenorchy on NY's Day, when the horse races take place. They are just so quintessentially Kiwi! And the views in Glenorchy! Boggles the mind, doesn't it? We went jet boating up the river Dart when we were there 11 years ago and loved it! Looking forward to Dunedin. It's one of the places on my short list (together with anything from Wanaka to Queenstown, Nelson and Taranaki) for the day I finally manage to convince my husband about moving to NZ ;)
😅 might have to head over to horse races one day. Yen and I are yet to still ever attend one. Just watched the Melbourne cup a few times on telle while doing company sweepstakes is as far as we've come. Maybe we might needa do this NY trip. We do also really wanna see the lupins in summer 🤔 had a blast in dunedin but quite a few vlogs to go before we get there. Take care n have a great weekend ✌
@@PeterandYen yeah, well, the Glenorchy races are nothing like ordinary horse races. Most of the racers seem to forget it's a competition. It's about silly costumes, generally faffing about and having family fun. Thanks guys, you too!
@@PeterandYen hard to tell. 3/10, maybe? He's very reluctant. When the borders open, I'm dragging him to NZ. I've been building a social network in NZ over the internet and lots of those people already know about my situation and want to try and talk him into moving when we visit. A cunning plan, right? ;)
Looks like you'd a lovely, relaxed start to your South Island tour guys. What a find with the accommodation too! I usually have trouble finding somewhere decent at a reasonable price, but that's partially my own fault as I book very little in advance when I'm touring so I've got more flexibility.
🤔 usually I like to book months ahead and often find real steals that way. But these days I only book a week or so in advance in case of lockdowns 😅 It's been much easier finding availabilities too cause there are much fewer tourists.
So looking forward to this series, and it's coming hot on the heels of my other fave Kiwi travel vloggers Daneger and Stacy with their Sth Island travel series finishing several weeks back. I totally expect this series to be every bit as good,if not better (if you find some great Donut shops, haha). A quick suggestion, not sure if you've been to Motueka on this journey, but The Smoking Barrel there is highly recommended for their donuts. Anyhoo,my daughter just had to quickly watch this,as she just recently went down to Queenstown, but I warned her not to watch you guys eating,as it'll make her hungry.
😂 thanks for sharing the video with your fams Rob! We do manage to find one good donut shop. We made a video from Motueka a couple of weeks ago but didn't visit the smoking barrel, went to the toad hall instead. We will be back one day though so we'll have to visit the smoking barrel then 😁🤙
@@PeterandYen cool stuff, yep, been to Toad Hall as well, but The Smoking Barrel really is a must, there really is a decent donut selection there, and one real surprise - the Cheeseburger donut !In the Sth.Island,it really is pretty hard to find bad food. When we went down to work in Nelson last year, apart from work, sightseeing and drinking (hahaha, they sold Waikato Draught down there,so I was in heaven),eating was a major past-time. Really looking forward to the next upload.
Yes i remember queenstown was expensive and i believe there is no uber either? To protect the taxi industry? We arrived late at night and was hard to find a taxi into queenstown city haha
Having driven through Glenorchy (many time's) on the way to Queenstown coming from Invercargill, the one thing that stood out in my mind of Glenorchy was their library - a building which was not that much bigger than an outhouse....keeping in mind that was a long long time ago. - obviously that library will be long gone now, but do they have anything in remembrance of that memory i had of the Glen. Thank's for the nostalgic moment guy's.
Thanks for sharing your memory of the old library tooks 😁 I always love sharing those stories of kiwi land back in the day too most of ours are from Auckland though.
This vlog brings us memories of our first trip to South Island 🥰 The scenery is just breathtaking! The best road trip ever for us. Jealous for you guys doing this trip 😍 That Glenorchy red shed is so popular, glad you guys finally ticked this off your bucket list ✅ Too bad that we skipped last time this due to not having enough time and bad weather condition😞 The bibimbap you guys had looks delish 😍 nice meal to have a after a long day 👍🏻

Hi, Peter and Yen Loved your south Island series👍. Which month do you think is best to travel south Island autumn or winters, and is it very rainy in may?
It's nice every season but it depends what you like. Ski/ snow board for winter. Summer for lake activities and the shoulder seasons are great for hiking. It can rain NZ in any season but summer is usually the dryest month.
You just made me hungry. Korean is my personal favourite cuisine. 🤤 You should go to Bannsang at High Street in Auckland. I love their Korean food. You will have to look carefully for it though because it is tucked away at the end of a hallway
😁👋 thanks for joining the channel 👍 we just visited Greymouth a lil while ago but didn't know about Shanty town will need to Google that, thanks for the recommendation ✌
Did notice the price difference between Chch and Qtown with Snap . Looks like it's cheaper to rent in Chch , drive to Qtown and pay the one way fee . Our airfare credits expire in May next year (no refund with Virgin.) Hoping (and praying) to fly Darwin to Chch , then drive to Aoraki/Mt Cook , Wanaka , Te Anau , Milford and back to Queenstown for a good look around the district . 10 days all up ( Arthurs Pass may have to wait .)
Sounds like you have a great trip lined up 🤞 that you get to go on it. We will definitely go Christchurch first next time the price difference is quite big. Won't make that mistake again 😅
Just revisiting your video again after travelling to Queenstown and Glenorchy last November. You are right about the air being so fresh and clean . My wife Flora struggles a bit in the tropics and found her breathing so much better there . Love it
Nice vid guys !, totally hear ya re rental car prices. They should be half what they are charging especially with the trans Tasman bubble popped 🙄. Relocation is the way to go…scored a three day Queenstown to Christchurch 6 berth campervan relocation deal a few weeks ago…$15 plus gas (check out Transfercars website). Yen looks super cute with beanie ! . Enjoy your trip 😜😎😀🥶
Ooo sweet thank you for the link gonna check that out. Yeah... at first I was like, sweet score cheap queenstown tickets, then when I looked at prices for rentals I was like nooooo 😂 ahhh well live and learn eh.
Hi Peter and Yen. Love all your videos. Come and enjoy with me at the new Water World attraction at Ocean Park HK due to open on Sep 21. You won’t be disappointed. It’s gonna be fun ! Yeah !
Especially for you, Peter ! There would be plenty of delicious Shanghai food available at the new food shops over there as well for you to taste ! This park defines my childhood ! Yeah ! How long have you last visited this place in HK ???
😁🤔 wow probably haven't been to Ocean park in HK for 20 years. Last time I went to HK was 9 years ago right after we got married. Sounds awesome! yen hasn't been yet so one day when the borders open for sure we will be visiting.
Hi, Thanks for another nice video. Could you recommend me car rental company that you think it is good and reasonable price for queenstown trip? I could pay rent online from its website @ Auckland, right? Thanks
Hello I would still say snap rental is one of the cheaper options in queenstown. But if I could do it again if going on a long trip I'd land in Christchurch and drive down. Yup you can book from their website.
I was in Glenorchy 45 years ago. I still remember when my local friend got petro at the “honesty garage”. Bought gas, & left the cash on the counter. Not a soul around.
@@PeterandYen I wish I had taken a picture of it.. I believe there was a note on the counter about leaving the cash. My friend had actually lived there as a child in the 50/60’s before the road was built and wasn’t impressed by it, but it obviously stuck with me. I traveled a lot over the years, was a long way from home at the time (Canada) & have never seen another honesty garage. There is a lot I don’t remember but that was one experience I do!

😂 that sounds awesome will look into it! Btw on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being very likely where are you on convincing the hubby? 🤔😁
@@PeterandYen hard to tell. 3/10, maybe? He's very reluctant.
When the borders open, I'm dragging him to NZ. I've been building a social network in NZ over the internet and lots of those people already know about my situation and want to try and talk him into moving when we visit. A cunning plan, right? ;)
Hahahaha excellent plan hopefully the group effort will be able to at least drag it to a 7/10 😂
Looks like you'd a lovely, relaxed start to your South Island tour guys.
What a find with the accommodation too!
I usually have trouble finding somewhere decent at a reasonable price, but that's partially my own fault as I book very little in advance when I'm touring so I've got more flexibility.
🤔 usually I like to book months ahead and often find real steals that way. But these days I only book a week or so in advance in case of lockdowns 😅
It's been much easier finding availabilities too cause there are much fewer tourists.
Hope you guys got home safe and sound.
Hi Adam thanks for your concern, this was shot a couple of weeks ago we're doing well in Auckland now. Stay safe 🙏
Peter and yen, nice video. 👍What about a visit to Arrowtown?
We really wanted to go arrowtown this trip but ended up in the remarkables instead. Don't worry we'll be back will def visit arrowtown next trip.
Mmmmmmmm cheese burger donut 🍩 that sounds yumm
Thanks guys. :)
Thank you for watching 🤙
Omg stunning 😍
😁❤
Yes i remember queenstown was expensive and i believe there is no uber either? To protect the taxi industry? We arrived late at night and was hard to find a taxi into queenstown city haha
There's Uber in Queenstown 🙂 used it a few times before! Maybe you guys just got unlucky that night unfortunately 😅
Nice vídeo
Thanks mate 👍
This vlog brings us memories of our first trip to South Island 🥰
The scenery is just breathtaking! The best road trip ever for us. Jealous for you guys doing this trip 😍
That Glenorchy red shed is so popular, glad you guys finally ticked this off your bucket list ✅ Too bad that we skipped last time this due to not having enough time and bad weather condition😞
The bibimbap you guys had looks delish 😍 nice meal to have a after a long day 👍🏻
😁 hey guys yes! Really enjoyed flowing along on your trip here too. New Zealand weather is such a temperamental thing though so it's quite hard to plan anything 😂
If you're blessed with the sunny day just gotta go for it 😁
Love love love your videos. I am from the Caribbean. I am hoping you can show a map and indicate where you are from time to time. Thanks in advance!
Hello 👋 nice to see you in the comments section. Thanks for your suggestion will keep that in mind 👍
Amazing Amazing
Thanks for watching Missy 👍
beautiful landscape... hopefully border open soon
Really is an amazing spot 😍
I missed South Island really nice place to stay
💯 such a beautiful part of New Zealand 🇳🇿
@@PeterandYen I love South Island I was there for 16 months
Wow 16 months that's a long time! Did you manage to see a lot of the island?
@@PeterandYen nope just few places I have been n don't have much time hanging around too, because I was working at Otago n Blenheim
Nice all good areas 👌
Love watching you guys.. planning on going back to New Zealand in a few years time.. Best country we’ve ever been too.. love it and love watching all the places you go to.. wish we were there now 😫 take care both John & Tracey from Brighton, UK
P.S would be great if you could also add prices in British pounds please xx
Thanks John and Tracey glad you're enjoying the vlogs 😁👍 we've been thinking about adding pounds and euros will need to see if we can work em into the next batch of videos 🤔
@@PeterandYen aww that will be great thank you.. looking forward to the next video.. Take care both of you xx
Hi, Peter and Yen
Loved your south Island series👍.
Which month do you think is best to travel south Island autumn or winters, and is it very rainy in may?
It's nice every season but it depends what you like. Ski/ snow board for winter. Summer for lake activities and the shoulder seasons are great for hiking. It can rain NZ in any season but summer is usually the dryest month.
makes me want to go home
You just made me hungry. Korean is my personal favourite cuisine. 🤤
You should go to Bannsang at High Street in Auckland. I love their Korean food. You will have to look carefully for it though because it is tucked away at the end of a hallway
😂 we used to live at metropolis and bannsang was our regular takeaway spot. Lots of bibimbaps were had from there 😁👌
@@PeterandYen my fav is octopus bulgogi. Will have to eat some other things from the menu
Mmmmm that's a fine choice 👌 if only they gave a lot more octopus 🐙
@@PeterandYen Mmm my mouth is watering 🤤
Hi, if we are visiting around 7oct to 21oct can we still get to see the snow at the mountain?
South def has better views than north island i can say. But nz is just beautiful jn general 😍
Hahahaha true South island is amazing. But as a North islander I dunno if it's better than north island. Would say uniquely different 🤔 😂👍
@@PeterandYen just the views, would still rather stay in north 😂
good video
Cheers Joseph ✌
Yum those beef bibimbaps look delicious 😋
🤤🤤🤤👌
Love your guys travel vlogs! I’m a new sub, have you guys been to shanty town in greymouth? It’s pretty cool!
😁👋 thanks for joining the channel 👍 we just visited Greymouth a lil while ago but didn't know about Shanty town will need to Google that, thanks for the recommendation ✌
Yes
😁 yeah!
Love it
O good! Glad you both noticed it too. The air is extra crisp down there 😊
Hi Peter and Yen, NZ is in lockdown from today. Are you still in South Island? Hope you are all well.
We got back last week, thank you for your concern 🙂❤️ Busy editing all our vlogs now 👍
Nice vid guys !, totally hear ya re rental car prices.
I live in Glenorchy
Bimbimbap is my Korean comfort food
Totally! It's one of our favorite Korean dishes too
Try Sixt next time for rental car.. their cars are really god and cheap for long period rental
Ooo thank you so much for the recommendation. Will def check them out next time. Only reason we went with snap is cause we had some credit with them.
Hi,
Thanks for another nice video.
@@PeterandYen Thanks a lot Peter and Yen
We are waiting for the borders to lift so we can fly over to CHC and spend 2 weeks in South Island.
Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy your trip soon 🤞🍀 The South Island is such a beautiful place! Which cities/towns are you planning to visit? 🙂
@@PeterandYen we have both been there before and are looking at March 2022 if we can get in from Queensland!
Wow a lot pricier for the rental in Queenstown!
😥 yeah.....
I was in Glenorchy 45 years ago. I still remember when my local friend got petro at the “honesty garage”. Bought gas, & left the cash on the counter. Not a soul around.
Wow! It must've looked like a totally different place 😯 Still see a few honesty boxes here and there but definitely no honesty garages these days 😆
Haha it's a pretty kiwi thing and more common in the smaller towns for sure. Such a wholesome memory! 🥰❤️
The South Island is another world compared to the North Island. I have to go every winter
The south island is pretty spectacular 👌 but north island is also pretty awesome 🤔😁
👍😷🙋♂️🙋♀️
The only thing I dont like are mice , there is an infestation mice on the Kepler walk ...noooooooo..I can't
😯 really? New Zealand is usually so good with pest control though
@@PeterandYen I think its the season , especially when there are lots of seeds available . You guys are doing an incredible job - love the vlogs.
Thank you Dave! Appreciate it 🙂👍
