    I love this captains reviews. He’s concise and doesn’t spend unnecessary time puffing the goods.

    I literally watch these videos by BoatTest and Captain Steve just to escape from a world of chaos and crap, looking at these beautiful vessels “The Grand Banks 54 being my favorite” makes me want to live full time on the water, work from port to port, see the world from the ocean and go wherever the tides and weather takes me.

    Grand Banks makes some of the best built boats out there. There is so much attention to detail here and this isn't even the features video yet

    Unusually quiet for this size boat is my strongest impression, great stuff. With such powerful engines even at 5 knots the range cant be more than 1500 nm though.

    Humphree stabilizers? Fisher Panda generator? I thought this was a high end boat judging by the price. Why the second rate stabilizers and gen set?

    After watching a bunch of boat channels, my choices have been down to the last two, Nick and Captain Steve.
    Nick introduces yachts in a more relaxed and casual way but Captain Steve is unparralled in details which gives specs not even listed on their own website.

      Hatteras doesn't build motor yachts smaller than 75 feet, however they do make a 54' Sportfish.

    An Inboard Performance System, or IPS would be a fascinating/expensive feature on a GB, although probably better on a planing hull. I knew Capt Steve would like the engine hatch grab handle 👍

  • @michiganengineer8621
    @michiganengineer8621 4 роки тому +3

    Looks like a nicely handling 54 even without the benefit of the IPS system, I can see a few potential situations where it would be nice to have _BOTH_ IPS and bow+stern thrusters, do you know if GB is willing to configure a boat that way? One of the things I would like to see is an "as configured" (or even just a "starting at") price in your reviews. Even if it's with a disclaimer of being a "ball park" figure, it would give those of your viewers who like to dream big something to shoot for!

    • @BoatTEST
      @BoatTEST  4 роки тому +1

      John Doe I’m actually a big fan of combining IPS with a bow thruster. There are just so many times that you want to move just the bow without rotating the whole boat. The stern thruster is not at critical because you can still move the stern with the throttle only and the wheel hard over. But the answer is, yes, GB will add that to the build if desired. - Capt Steve

      @michiganengineer8621 4 роки тому

      @@BoatTEST Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of a situation where there was a relatively strong current and you wanted to "parallel park" to the dock. Although angling the IPS drive/drives would work.

    Great boat! I have a boat in Newport, Ri. Given that the features video stated this is an ocean going boat designed to be away from the dock. Take the boat out to the Narragansett Bay entrance buoy instead of running in flat water under the Newport Bridge crossing the boats wake. GB makes a good boat but they could use a lesson in showcasing their boats like MJM does. Show it running in beam, following and head seas!
