  • This is my 1963 Clarklift C-40 forklift. I emailed Clark MHC and they gave me all the info about it. Purchased by the US Navy on October 25th 1963. This forklift came from the same person as my 1961 Clark Utilitruc. I replaced the brake master/wheel cylinders, water pump, new hoses, spark plugs etc. This forklift had a full make over. My friend Lamar helped me get this forklift and restore it. He knows a lot about forklifts. Clark built these old forklifts to last forever.

Thank you. You should post a video of your old belgium made forklifts. I would love to see them. These old machines are part of History.

You can look for one. If you find a non running forklift. You can get it cheap. Find a Clark. Parts are cheap and available for it. Caterpillar or towmotors do Not have many parts available anymore.

The song is Rain by a Florida band called, Sent Down. They are no longer together but you can still find the CD. Look for them on Myspace.

SOLD 3-16-13 TO A GENTLEMAN IN TAMPA FLORIDA. HE NEEDED A FORKLIFT THAT COULD LIFT 4000 LBS FOR HIS BUSINESS. THIS LITTLE C40 COULD DO THAT AND MORE. I ENJOYED SAVING ANOTHER CLARK FORKLIFT. I STILL OWN MY 1961 CLARK UTILITRUC THAT WILL NOT BE SOLD. I ALSO PURCHASED A 1977 CATERPILLAR T50B. STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT FORKLIFT RESTORATION.

Man that's a cool shot of the brakes, at our work we have a old 1975 Clark that has this identical setup and im fixing to open it up by Monday, the brakes have been making this god awful sound, I'm assuming is the brakes,,i got everything off except for the back studs,i knew it wasn't gonna be that easy when i took the front bolts off and the thing wouldn't budge until i figured out that it had studs in back,i noticed when i loosed one of the studs fluid started to come out,is there gonna be tons of fluid coming out or maybe just a little bit? i do have a Clark manual at work but it doesn't show the brakes for some reason, it just shows the hub and all that, the parts manual shows the brakes but not the service manual, weird.

I also have a space to the right of the seat and a bit lower that looks like it had a rod to rod under the seat that goes to the transmission not sure what was here and what it did on my automatic flathead 4 cyl. clark. thanks for any help.

How hard was this to work on? Parts available? I have someone that wants to sell me one for 700 locally. Any thoughts?

Cindy Russo They are easy to work on. Like an old car. All you need is the serial number on the forklift to order parts. Ebay or any forklift parts dealer. Tampa forklift parts. Swift forklift parts in Arkansas. If it runs good. Grab it. I have a 1961 Clark Utilituck. Still runs great. These forklifts Never die. They were made tough. MADE IN THE USA.

I found an old Clark Forklift in a rental warehouse The owner says it's mine if I can get it running! It looks like a 1963 or so C500-20. I've looked for a plate EVERYWHERE and can't find a thing telling me a serial number! I've taken some pics. Where can I find a repair manual for this machine? Maybe I can send the pics 2 get a sight identify this machine! Also, I can't figure out the tank under the drivers left side is for ? It uses LP with a small upright bottle! Help me with my restore!

I got the paint from Tractor supply. They have good paint for machinery.
For the black. I use Rustoleum Hammered paint. Very durable and chip resistant.
