Thanks brother, this is exactly what I was looking to be able to do with the MPC and my hardware synths. I bought the MPC after new update allowing audio interface, but the looper is a bit lacking. I got the MPC instead of waiting for the new Boss Looper coming out, but even though the looper is weaker than I expected, everything else about the MPC has blown me way and now going to keep it even though it doesn't do exactly what I originally was hoping for. But this workaround gets close. Hopefully Akai will update this in the future, should be an easy update if they focus on it at all. It seems like they should combine the looper with the clip launcher, both are two of the weakest functions they have. Record loop and drops it into a clip program then allowing to easily adjust bar sizes etc.
I hadn't thought about that but that is the perfect idea to combine the looper with clips. Excellent 👌 glad you're liking the ONE have fun!!! Thanks for watching and leaving the comment. This comment gets a pin 📌✌
Saw this was possible work around on another video, but couldn’t work it out. You’ve made it much clearer and it works wonderfully! I am looping to a few tracks using modular synth. I discovered testing this workflow out that for me, looping separate tracks, putting th trigger on a separate track, still on pad 1 on each track, and each track having its own program makes for a better work flow. First, it seem,s when you export the loop it automatically gives the next free track. So that gets your loop going pretty quick. Secondly, you can set up different effects on each track that can then be controlled by q-links or separate gear. Also you can set up program volumes to be set to different Qlink volumes....or you could set the tracks I guess. What that means is you can mix the pads more easily. You can probably do that anyway, I just find it easier. As for setting up the triggers, I’ve only just thought of an interesting way to try it... set up the first trigger track: program 1, and the pad 1 trigger; then set the midi routing to send to track 2, program 2. That trigger will then play the same trigger note ( I think). Set track 2 to send midi to track 3, program 3....and so on. Keep going, you’re doing great. I’m a Church of England minister in the uk.... as well as being a musician DJ and kids book illustrator. Keep being creative and giving God your focus and talents, peace and blessings!
Thank you so much. I was way confused until seeing this. I didn’t know you have to wait for the loop to come back around before starting the performance
Somthing else that works dope for live looping is using clip launch mode. You can create your own loops as tracks then bounce the track to a sample and throw them on pads to launch as clips. With a little planning you can set up some intricate live performances across different sequences and have parts where you can preform live over it as well. Its good for experimenting with new tracks also.
@@LiftedNoise Yea man np. I just recently started trying them out myself and am really loving the feature so far. Aside from making my own loops to use its also great if you grab samples off Splice or somewhere too. Sometimes I'll just find a dope drum or melodic loop I like, throw it on a clip and preform live over it to build out a new track. Its really versatile if you get creative with it and you can put some nice sets together.
I've had my Live MK2 for a year and still learning new things from you. Thank you so much for putting in the time, effort, and knowledge into these videos. Everytime I watch one, I learn something new.
I L❤VE this video. If it wasn't for you showing me "Looper" I never would of been using Lopper to record vocals for vocal production WITHIN my MPC to this day! God bless you my brother for this information ☺
Looper Is For Tracking Quick Ideas On A Single Track, Best For Solo Instruments... If You Wanna MultiTrack Its Better To Record On The Audio Tracks, That Way You Achieve Your Goal Of Live Looping And You'll Have Separated Audio Files To Chop Later, And You Can Trigger Them The Same Way In A Drum Program...
This is awesome, There is no wrong way to make music... The list of what the MPC can do is endless... Thank you for sharing the greatness as always... Loving the chords... Peace and Blessings Always 🙏🏿👆🏾💯
@@LiftedNoiseYa know... It's going pretty good👍🏾😁..... I am having fun with it... Ever so intrigued by the finger drumming... Lol... Appreciate you.. Blessings Always 👆🏾🙏🏿💯
I think that is it's best purpouse. If you want to record in audio in sync with your sequence and you don't necessarily want it hitting on the 1. Otherwise you'll have to program your pad hit in where you want it. Not impossible but this makes it easier.
I think the looper is JUST useful, when instruments can‘t be hooked up via midi, meaning live instruments, vocal lines etc., which are desired to be on exact bars, anything else doesn‘t make sense.
I knew before buying my MPC One that it could not replace my RC-505. But everything else on the MPC is mind blowing and can do much more for me and my workflow than my my 505
Thanks for sharing. Both have their dedicated uses. Live looping always been a fascinating thing to me but I don't utilize it so not a big deal for me with the mpc looper limitations. I have found good use of it though. Best case is, if I need to resample a part that doesn't hit exactly on the one, the looper will get me a more accurate loop than if I where to do it in the sampler screen.
Nice tip right there. Ddint think to just pre-setup the program and the pads on the grid. Was just recording each loop then programming it into the grid one at a time.
Don’t have the MPC One and still watched every minute. Don’t know if I’ve ever dropped a line to say I love the channel and have been watching for a while now. Keep it up bro!
A faster way(maybe) is using the step sequencer. That way your timing is perfect and your levels is set to whatever you program them to be. Try it out and see which way works best for you. Great video 🧔🏽🙏🏽
Good thought, you do mean for preprogrammed pads? I feel like you'd still need full velocity on but I haven't explored the step sequencer, I never use it so good suggestion for me. 🙏
Excellent 👍. I rarely use the audio tracks and the sampler is no good for recording parts that need to stay in time so this is great. Thanks for posting.
@@LiftedNoise really your playing has improved since we hooked up and did you piano lesson. You should really think about getting a serious keyboard 🎹 They really inspire creativity. Hope you get it! The Nautilus it’s dope!!👊🏾
Never looked into it but you probably want to look for a download for the editor software for pc/Mac that's most likely how you change velocity curves.
Thanks for this! I wanted to see the looping options within the mpc one and I think I’ve got a better idea of its capabilities now. This looper function looks like a great way to explore ideas and make beats, but not sure how useful it is for live looping, especially if you want to add samples from the mpc on the fly. I’ve never used an mpc one so I’m not sure if there are ways to adapt the workflow for live looping… Perhaps it allows for less menu diving during the performance if you create a looping template beforehand?
Yea it's not your best option by a long shot if your mainly a live looping performer. I've only used the looper for recording an external synth in sync with sequences. I think that's it's strength. Definitely make a template for this if you want use it like this.
Greetings, I could loop like this and when exporting the loop it didn't stop, that was before the new update of mpc one, now with the new update when exporting the loop for and when giving keep it doesn't send it directly to the pad that I assign you, has it happened to you? Do you have any solution? Cheers
No last I used the looper it compiles all takes over in one audio file, that's why Iade this work around. It's not the best live looping option but it has its purposes.
Thx for sharing I recorded a vocal loop with a sequence. When I export, it only exports the looped vocals and not the sequence with it. Any help is much appreciated
You'll want to bounce to sample. From the home screen in the SEQUENCE section, tap the pencil ✏ icon to the right, in the screen that opens there will be a BOUNCE TO SAMPLE function this will export everything in that sequence to a single audio file.
Sweet! Thank you. I was just exporting from the looping page. I’m working five straight doubles and look forward to this as soon as I can. You rock and I’m excited to watch more of your videos. Thanks again!

Lol yeah bro I hear that quite a bit on YT but never in person. Used to play hoop in 8th grade but that's about it. The ONE is dope bro! Enjoy the process 💯
Well you can export the audio to a pad and trigger that on a sequence but if you layer audio as it loops around you can only export that as one file, no separate files. That's why I showed this workaround.
Anyone have an issue with the looper when you have your MPC set to receive midi clock? When I do and hit record in the looper it instantly turns off the rec button. I put the MPC back as master and it works flawlessly.
Well it is capable of looping of course but not in the same way as one of those looping pedals you would use to do live performance stuff with external instruments. This is a work around for that type of situation.

Where did you get that Dilla skin for the pads?
It's a sticker I bought on ebay and I cut it out to fit on the pads
Did you create a different program for each track?
No just a different pad for each loop all on the same program.
Will mpc's automatically quantize?
You can set it on and it will automatically quantization to the settings you choose or it can be turned off.
Isn't the MPC a looper on its own. Not seeing the point of this function?
