I miss the bento from a restaurant my family used to work for through the years. It was a five minute walk from the house on, Oahu. The cook was the mother of one of my class mates. The owner of the restaurant became a good family friend to us. The restaurant was very popular in our community. When the Husband died he was the principal owner his widow tried to keep it open but the responsibility compounded by the grief of loss was just to overwhelming and she sold the business. Never has been the same ever. Changed ownership numerous times after that the original cook had retired this was part of the widows decision to sell the restaurant. Since then, I cook and try to copy aunties recipes from the restaurant still no can do. It’s just one of those things. Loved the family time. To bad no more beach. Aloha. 🏄🏻‍♀️🌺🌸🌴❤️🇺🇸

    Thanks for a great trip.
Grandparents are great. Young minds soak them up like sponges even if it doesn't seem so at the time. With incentive from a dancing Grandma and the patience of a Grandpa wrapped in the direction of a loving Mama many of us grow and prosper. The world survives. Memories revived.

@@SamuraiMama ... You were helping me cook this morning. Two eggs, a little orange juice instead of water, a little sugar and a quarter-inch thick slice of bologna. It was adding the sugar like you that I remembered. Thanks.

Love it! I like try make da Japanese rolled eggs. Never thought of freezing the marinated char siu chicken. We slice up the chicken the same way when pau cook. We marinate two days before bbq. 1 pkg per 6 thighs without adding water.
I had to convince so many of my non-Hawaii friends here in California to try the bright pink chicken I would bring to potlucks. Now they ask if I will bring it and are disappointed if I don’t.

Yes! We do the powder with no liquid too and couple packets for a large tray. Marinate 2-3 days and then freeze if no grill em right away. My kids love it. 😂

I just suscribed to your channel and enjoyed your vlog.Like your parents my husband and I are retired and grandparents to 10 kiddos! What is furikake? I would love to try this recipe but don't know what it is and where to find it.

Hi there! Thanks for sub! Furikake is a Japanese rice seasoning often made with seaweed. I've found it at Walmart in the Asian aisle and some grocery stores but lately I've been having to get it from Amazon.

Cool bento!! How do you make you potato salads for some reason mines don’t really come out good ! My baby mama mother makes a mean southern potato salad!! What other bento combos do you make

Hi William! Here's a link to my potato salad recipe ua-cam.com/video/WChU5bOzkAA/v-deo.html
Also, my favorite bento combo is fried chicken and spam musubi. But sometimes we make cone sushi and Teri beef and fried spam. If i have time and resources, I make Teri beef, spam, Korean fried chicken, rice, taegu and takuan. Just like Kay's deluxe bento. So ono!
