  • This is a wide ranging conversation about conspiracy theories, the occult, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and more with the writer Daniel Pinchbeck.
Over the years Daniel has spent a lot of time investigating alternative narratives including conspiracy, and has been critical of Rebel Wisdom in the past for not taking these seriously enough.
Alongside this conversation we are publishing a long written piece about the subject of conspiracy theories, with special focus on the recent high profile interview of Maajid Nawaz on the Joe Rogan podcast: rebelwisdom.substack.com/p/co...
We also talk about Daniel's high profile sex scandal and 'cancellation'.
You can find Daniel's writing on his Substack here: substack.com/profile/2728693-...

On the 9 // 11 issue. I'd be interested if you argued with kooks talking about remote control planes with no one on them, or serious people, who for example have questions about why Mossad spies lived next to the hijackers while they prepared, or why Israeli spies were arrested after a random citizen saw them recording the attacks and celebrating as the planes hit the towers, which then led to a massive Mossad spy ring being rolled up, after the spies were held in US custody for months before being quietly deported with no charges.
Or the entire Anthrax plot, which tried to link 9/11 to Iraq and targeted US politicians that opposed the Patriot Act.
There are legitimate factual aspects of 9/11 which are highly suggestive at the very least of prior knowledge of the attacks.

"...we're never going to figure out if 9/11 was orchestrated." Daniel said, "there were so many weird qualities to it."
Weird like what? well, first and foremost the obvious one: how asymmetrical fires caused the symmetrical collapse of 3 steel buildings. Maybe this was "orchestrated" by an Egregore. How else are you going to violate the laws of physics?
Whether one considers an egregore to be a thoughtform, group mind, or entity with agency... It does seem to be the most popular explanation for weirds events these days.

Ah yes, the good old pacifist chestnut of how Ukraine should just bend over, start liking being raped, surrender to fascist Russia and then just be OK with massive pogroms and genocide campaigns by the new Russian psychopathic overlords. Very pacifist, much peace loving, and aggressively stupid.

    • @MrDanielPinchbeck
      @MrDanielPinchbeck 2 роки тому

Yes I am a pacifist... ideally I think we need to get beyond wars as a species. Particularly as we are facing an ecological emergency and need all hands on deck. However I don't see how the US and NATO could have avoided getting involved in this war and doing what they are doing now. Could you allow Russia to simply annihilate its neighbor? Apparently a million Ukrainians have been forcibly resettled into Russia with over 100,000 kids who may end up being given to Russian homes to raise. I do think that defeating Russia in this war would be a great thing. I also understand the critique that the US may have been happy for this opportunity to use its military hardware etc and obviously it is a big win for defense contractors. Still, I think the US is doing the necessary thing at the moment. Gandhi also said that violent resistance was needed in situations where passive resistance would not succeed.

The Heard trial is interesting to so many because they themselves may have been abused by family, by friend or employer- and never got justice. The law system failed them or they have longterm damage.
Pinchbeck goes on about Depp’s money and spending choices , says it’s hard to have sympathy for him. He earned it, he can spend it as he likes and he gets robbed on a different scale. He has given employment to many, donated time and money to charities, given free shelter to others, made others wealthy. People lived well off his efforts.
Could say more about his other articles but I have to get back to work.
Thank you both for addressing his personal issues but maybe just put that in the description box if it comes up again. People need to get past that and spend more time on ideas.

On the subject of Daniel's personal past, may I say this: If he didn't have a public persona we would be none-the wiser of his past actions and he would not have been publicly accused. Being a public figure, it automatically raises the stakes in moral self-observance purely because the general public is an audience, while at the same time it increases the opportunity to explore multi-relationships, because there are many people who are attracted to someone's public position. It is entirely his decision to reflect, and regret/not care/learn/be amused/evolve/repeat/mature-or-not from his experiences.
It is not the interviewer's right/duty/position to judge, publicly. He can raise the subject for discussion, with a prior agreement from the interviewee, from an objective perspective, which may be of general interest.
Female emancipation happened to come over the evolutionary horizon before male's emancipation. We are all very much still in the thick of this development and far from being socially/sexually/morally/personally emancipated, because it is a process of global and social and spiritual transformation.

I don't really want to listen to a guest rehash indiscretions from the past that have been adequately covered in other locations. Check Jamie Wheal's interview of Andrew Cohen to see how it could be done far better. It was enough for him to simply refer to AC's past fall from grace with a quick overview and a reference to an article that covered the details, and then move on quickly to the present which is far more interesting. I suspect your time with DP could have been more productive if you had taken this approach.

Since the breakup of the Soviet Union, Russia had not engaged in territorial expansion, by invading its neighbors. It has only been as the US and NATO have attempted to overthrow the governments of its neighbors (successfully in Ukraine) that Russia has taken military action.

So you are blaming Russias invasion of Ukraine on NATO and the US? I call BS on that. This is Putins decision and what he decided was both unnecessary and counterproductive. Neither NATO nor the US have any interest in invading one square inch of Russian land. Russia on the other hand is quite happy to violate Ukrainian sovereignty.

I've come to accept that in order for me to enjoy some great content on the channel, I have to understand that there are going to be pieces on here which don't really interest me. Someone claiming to be able to commune with a Mesoamerican deity would be in the 'not for me' category.
However, I was aware of media claims of Mr Pinchbeck's behaviour a few years ago. I read a little about it and then read his lengthy Facebook post. That post was, in my opinion, as awful as his contrition here. David believes that Pinchbeck is genuinely remorseful, and David will have had interactions with him, and I haven't, but it certainly looked awkward to me. And the attempt to link trauma to future behaviour...
You were right to bring this issue up, David. If you hadn't, people would have searched this person's name, noticed the allegations and wondered why he hadn't been challenged.

There's a 4 way speaker Parallax channel vid where 1 of the 4 had many allegations of abuse that caused him to flee the country and another of the 4 that was dating a sex-centered cult leader with a long list of the same. Never called out. I'm all for forgiveness and people changing, but if you're claiming to be a teacher, you have a history of abusing that role, and you're not offering a teaching that shows you condemn the former behavior I have to question your intent and ability.

@@matthewspears3786 Mathew, honestly I did not watch the program, I was reacting to your suggestion to be more understanding and more diplomatic.
I live in US for God knows how long, but I was born and spent my first 20 years in Kiev, Ukraine. My mom has Russian roots, my dad is Ukrainian. Both of them along with their families were born and lived during the USSR regime. There were many Russians sent to the capitals of the Republics, so we all spoke Russian, some never even hear Ukrainian language in their life while living in Ukraine.
I still have friends and relatives there, mostly in Ukraine, but in Russia too.
Ukraine is an independent country now, it has it's own problems, but it does not want to be the vassal to Russian Empire.
Up until 2006 --- 2007 Russia also wanted to be some kind of democracy, People lived, traveled and no one cared about NATO, lost respect, Russia's special identity, etc.
I will not start telling you that Putin did not really leave in 2008 when Medvedev officially was a president, then he returned and stayed since then till now. Something happened in his and, maybe, his closest friends mind. No more democracy, no freedom of press, no independent business.
The worst thing was the propaganda. Russia is a big country without roads. The independent thinking part of people always lived in Moscow, St Petersburg, and couple of other big cities. The rest were watching TV and lived like they were still living in the USSR.
First everyone laughed at this propaganda shows on all the channels. "Who would believe them", we thought, "all you need to do is to open the Internet and check". But you know what, people did not check. They liked those lies. Apparently, it is nice to think that your life is not what you expected it to be, when you can blame US, Europe, entire world (but not your own government), it is also nice to hear how powerful The Mother Russia is, when you, personally have no power at all. And hate, they love to hate. It didn't happen in 1 year, or 2, maybe 10 or so. Meanwhile the country went from pseudo democracy to autocracy and now it is clinical dictatorial regime.
Putin knew about everything his army was and is doing in Ukraine. POW from Ukraine, along with male civilians are put in the jails, that were emptied for them and I can not comment on what is done to them there.
All my friends from Russia needed to run to other countries, some only because they were against the war, some, because they brought the flowers to Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow and were arrested. And yes, the majority of people are with Putin, weren't Germans with Hitler?
My brother is on active duty now, somewhere in Eastern Ukraine, my younger sister is in Kiev, that is bombed regularly, but she doesn't pay attention to sirens anymore. Her husband is an officer, he is not military, but speaks 5 languages and worked for US in Afghanistan. Obviously he is somewhere, but not with her, and couple of weeks ago she asked me "just in case', how to shoot herself in the mouth to die for sure and not stay a cripple if Russians will take Kiev and will start go door to door. I could not breathe.
You are saying, you are not in denial. Those people were maimed, raped, killed, I saw documentary on every little town, they will never show it in US --- too graphic. Western law professionals from different countries are working there now. So if not Russian Army, are you saying that Ukrainians did it to their neighbors, their countrymen?
My life was put on hold with this war, I watch everyone. Ukrainians have their own propaganda, mostly they lie about the number of planes, copters and tanks they destroyed. But if you want to know the truth about Russian society today, reread 1984. or watch Hitler's and Goebbels speeches.

Why would a random US citizen have a more realistic view on Russia? Your argument doesn't make any sense.
However many mistakes the US makes wrt psychological issues (and there have been plenty over the decades), Russia still has agency. Ukraine has agency.
It is a complete fallacy to believe that the US could have prevented Russia's designs on its neighbours, and certainly not by showing more deference to Russia. (In the Ukraine case we could theorise that establishing a huge joint naval base in the Black Sea together with Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria sometime between 08 and 14 might have had a deterring effect. But no-one was willing to spend any money on that kind of thing, not when the possibility that Russia would act as a normal country still existed, though after 2014 we should all have understood it to be a unrealistically optimistic.)
From a European perspective the US seemed very absent in the run up to the invasion (except for publishing intelligence). And even the first weeks of the war you just got the "aw, I can't even..." reaction whenever US politicians turned up on the news.

The exposure and accountability of narcissist behaviour at different relationship levels (whether it be Depp v Heard or Putin v Nato/West) appears to be directly linked to an increase in conscious awakening. One might even go as far as to say that narcissism, as a thing, is an important aspect of the human experience in that without exposure to the inhumaneness of narcissist irrationality - humanity's increased sense of self and discernment would be far slower to evolve at the individual and collective level.

There is a difference between religiosity and region. The worlds religions have most often. partnered with a ruling class and or governments to control populations. Secularism, allows people more personal freedom when it comes to their beliefs and it allows for more diversity. It does not mean, that individuals are necessarily less religious. Conforming under one religion does not increase the happiness of a society, does not increase the health and happiness of indifiduals it increases predictability and control over.
Not all scientists are atheists or agnostics either. Not all scientists or clergy possess wisdom. The desire to maintain control and to use a variety of methods to do so is not about the meains, its about the goals behind them. The goal of the church is not to bring peole to god, it;s to bring people into conformity and under control. All sorts of methods are used to do this regardless of the interest or disinterest in technology.
The perfect Anarchist is someone who knows that with freedom comes responsibility and you must use critical thinking and empathy to be an ideal Anarchist who does not use might is right.
Anarchy in it's ideal form cannot work as a collective ideology. Some people do need controls to be prevented from being dangerous and or a nuance to society. I believe a secular democratic state is the only fair way to arrive at universal principles and practices to this end. Rates of suicide and root causes are an excellent Canary in the gold mine foe spotting things if you look at them without bias. Oh mens suicides have gone up...well what were womens rates of suicide and self harm? What demographics are most vulnerable to suicide? Extreme strict religious societies do have a high rate of female suicide, self harm and domestic abuse and even murder of female souses. NO thanks. Not interested.

This guy seems to be making excuses. The emancipation of Eros has been shut down because so many of the dudes claiming it used it as a cover to abuse. They are all about “yang” [penetrative] sexuality being unchecked and permitted to abuse “yin” (receptive)sexuality. These guys claimed they were so “free” and enlightened, but they just used the alternative spirituality scene as an alternative method to abuse others. It defo shows psychedelics is no short cut to “so called enlightenment”. They created the ground for “metoo” and have only made people more sceptical of the very valid and wonderful “Eros” spiritual tradition. I’m glad you asked him about it as it indeed conveys something essential about the alternative scene - i.e. it’s essential to do your shadow work and arseholes will always use whatever they can to abuse others.

Yeah, wouldn't it be great if the techno-billionaires could do something about the homelessness in California. For all their future thinking and concern for the future of humanity, perhaps they should heed the age old adage that charity starts at home.
Apart from that, Pinchbeck is fairly clueless on the bigger picture of global politics. He lists the past transgressions of the US but completely misses the context to the build up. Pinchbeck can't be taken seriously. He has absolutely nothing useful to say about the Ukraine-Russia conflict unless you consider regurgitating the mainstream media mash-up is a valid contribution. And he's certainly not informed on the wider context in both economic and historical terms. There was a strong smell of BS when asked about this topic.
