I've been trying to explain to people why I think Gatlin came. People didn't realize that the man had a chip on his shoulders since he got suspended for the, alleged, PED thing. He proved that he never needed any PEDs, because, in his later years he constantly performed much better, as a proven clean runner, than he ever did before he was banned/suspended.
@@tramainesmith6067to be reasonably fair and honest…..no one has that bit of work over that span of time like JG has done. Give that man his earned respect and recognition.
Gatlin is so respectful and kind. He was a beast. 9.74 PB! Faster than the previous WR before Bolt/Asafa/Blake era. Thanks to him we rivalry and it kept us hooked. Long may his post running presenting career last!
People tend to be so hard on Safa by saying that he doesn't run hard enough or that he slows down....but it's because his technique is so good. He made it seem so effortless. It's like he is tip-toeing when running 😊
Having a great technique but failing to deliver when it matters the most on the big stages is a legitimate basis for critiquing him. So yes, the criticisms of him were and are still very much deserved.
@@vengance27 maybe on the USA side but i never saw any "bitterness" on the part of the Jamaicans. We have always had mad respect for US athletes and strived for years to be on their level. I think it was more a case of the long dominant Americans having to come to terms with the upstart Jamaican sprinters. Would make for some animosity, yes.
Justin is one of my all time favourite athletes. Some Jamaicans couldn’t stand him. I was an anomaly. Love his analysis and that he gives credit. Where credit is due. Give this man his roses.
In 2012, Asafa was no longer in his prime (he ran 9.8). But with that said I still believe Jamaica would have run 37.7........With prime Asafa (2008) they could have gone 36.6
Ryan Bailey dissed Usain and Asafa came out to defend JA on home turf... bro didn't run a good race for the whole season and laced up inn full black... and DESTROYED bailey... that run was personal. We defend our own... Asafa doesn't run for running. He the guy you call when you need a do or die.
Asafa Powell in his prime was the smoothest runner I ever saw. He treated his best time like a smooth jog down Central Park. Now to put rankings on the best i believe in my opinion as being the smoothest runner with the best time is #1. Asafa Powell. #2…
Right. That's what I've been trying to explain to your peoples' that some athletes are better at running the relays than their individual races. I guess because running the relays takes more pressure of you, so it's a psychological thing.
Do US runners feel like they dont get the fan support or respect for their contribution to the sport? Because Maurice Green was near legendary . Its the difference with the small country like jamaica , the support is just different! Love this channel, hope it blows up!
36 85 without Asafa was crazy, insert Asafa down that back straight and you're getting simeone who can keep pace with Gatlin, which means Blake gets the baton with Gatlin and Bolt gets maybe a 2-5 meter advantage thats 36.5 easily.
Why Jamaicans love to talk about stuff they don't know? Asafa ran at champs. That's how Franno saw him. He was a late bloomer for speed like most of Franno's biggest athletes, Shelly and Elaine.
Asafa had a lot of challenges along the way, he had two brothers died I think a year apart tragically. This was before two major track events, if I am not mistaken the world championship or Olympic was one of them.
Track and Field should have done everything in their power to keep Bolt competing for as long as possible, like LeBron. He's the MJ of track. Make him do 400m or 800m. I know he doesn’t run that but as he aged it would have been interesting to see and good for ratings.
It just came down to the fact that Bolt didn't want to anymore. He effectively ran about 17 years if we want to include his time as a junior. That's a huge portion of his life
I am a Jamaican and I can tell you, we love Asafa but many of his country men feel like he lacked killer instinct in individual races. Some attributed his lack of success in individual races to the fact the he had not gone through the rigour of competing at Champs, our high school championship meet.
If that were the case Michael O'Hara would be running track and field. But results say otherwise. Champs in Jamaica burn out athletes and don't give them room to grow. Their body has peaked to the point of no return when it's all said and done.
More I watch Justin is the more I like him.
Especially as I’m a Jamaican and I hated him when he cheated but once he came back I was terrified of him, but respected him.
fr he chill like that
I thought it was just me man. Dude is just cool.
So the media made us hate Justin for nothing? I feel so manipulated.

Exactly, it's just his style of running.
Having a great technique but failing to deliver when it matters the most on the big stages is a legitimate basis for critiquing him. So yes, the criticisms of him were and are still very much deserved.
He is maturing over the years respect
Love how the hosts look at track and field as a whole, not having a biased discussion based on nationality. True track fans👍
took many years to get here loool. It was a bitter rivalry back in the day... those who know, know lol

As an American…I never rooted for Tyson Gay or Gatlin over Usain 🤣🤣
I saw Asafa ran faster in training. Best technique ever

What I love about you guys you tell the truth, one love 🇯🇲🇺🇸👊🏿🙏🏿
I love that you guys are keeping it real yeah man 😮😮😮
Asafa on relays always delivers. And that yr, he was faster than Frater.
Asafa in his prime was still in 2012. They run 36.44 as nobody ran second like him. Remember 2015 and how he killed Gatlin on second leg at worlds

Suddenly i respect Gatlin
Jamaican like my self is loving Gatling before he was a mistier he never talk but now we see the humbleness in him wow much respect to him 🙏🏿
That assfa video is 1 of the best running videos ever😂
fantastic conversations. Asafa Powel was really exceptional to watch.
Nesta wasnt in 9.8 shape. Frater and Carter respectively were in 10.1 and 10.0 shape. The efficient handovers made up for their lack of shape
Bless up bro 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🙏❤️
Imagine Asafa was in that relay
Always respected Gatlin even tho the media made a lot of us 🇯🇲 root against him...
Asafa had the perfect technique.....no wasted motion and smooth..BUT he cldnt relax when it mattered its a reason y he's the sub 10 king....
"Relay" Asafa is a different animal, not like the individual Asafa. Lots of relays finals features Asafa simply on another level to himself

@@cosmicwisdom999 no doubt about that!
They need to have Asafa on the pod
Was it Greene's camp that coined the "drive phase" thing? I don't remember anyone before the talking drive phase.
Asafa is the most complete 100m sprinter
I remember seeing Asfa back in 03 in Paris.

As a Jamaican I hated Justin but after watching several videos he is a cool and honest dude
Asafa was a super athlete, but he just never had the clutch instinct.
He was injured a lot just like Blake
He had too much respect for the best techniques: overthinker.
💯% facts on Mo Greene.
Asafa, for me was the best I've ever seen
The us team should have had Wallace spearmon in that race as well

Asafa ran 9.85 in 2012 so i still think if he was healthy that year 36.5
Asafa's 9.74 race in Rieti is his most impressive with how effortless he made it look and how he eased up. Was crazy.
shout out to Orlando Gun Club
The best sprinter ever Justin
