Horizon Zero Dawn is one of my favorite games and Aloy's spear was clearly still missing in my cosplay prop collection! In addition it was a great crafting challenge for my prop making skills! I mostly used 2, 5 and 10mm high density EVA foam, contact cement and a PVC pipe for the core. Then just some PlastiDip and Vallejo airbrush colors for the priming and painting. I'm super proud of how the spear turned out!

You can buy cheap basketweave material but the exaggerated texture translates better on a prop then the real stuff. ;)

You guys have every right to be proud! I’m still amazed about all the details you can make with foam, the basket weaving was brilliant! The paint job with the weathering really makes the spear look convincing. Thanks for sharing.

Besides foam my favorite medium to work with is junk parts , I used water bottles broken parts from all sorts of things , I peice stuff together to make Ray gun models all sorts of stuff I even made a general Grivious helmet from Star wars using the front half of a gallon juice bottle and combined it with foam on the back .
The hardest part of my system is glueing different materials together example a glue used for wood may not work with plastic so you kinda have to experiment a bit to get things to go together.

I just got into foam and worbla but my all time favorite material for some of my bigger props is corrugated plastic sheets. Kinda hard to work with, but I will always turn to it if a prop needs to withstand a lot of abuse at conventions.
