One of the few HUGO VICKERS charming chats I've managed to miss....My interest in the Windsors also goes back to boyhood....I 'm certain I was one of the few 11 year old boys living on a farm in Kansas who was interested in their lives....

It is heartening to hear this authoritative basis for revisiting the unjust judgments made for political reasons on this much maligned woman. Contemporary diarists record what a charming and benign influence she was on the deeply unhappy prince. “Adventuress” sniped his mother, who hadn’t herself hesitated to become engaged to the next son down when her royal fiancé died.

wow - he is wearing the duchess's famous brooch - or is it a copy? does anyone know? strange how he took his scarf off at the same time he mentioned the duchess's jewellery was sold.

Maitre Blum was always present when Lord Mountbatten visited. The Duchess always hid the royal swords. Mountbatten wanted them according to Caroline Blackwood’s book The Last of the Duchess. The swords were really “worth” more than all the jewels. I don’t know where they ended up.

Wallis may have been cursed during her last years to serve as a reminder where she came from because she wasn't always respectful towards David.

After hearing about metre Bloom I kind of feel sorry for Wallace from being as glamorous figure to being treated like an animal weighing on the bed with no one to to care for her it makes you wonder what what would of happened had David survived and Wallace that died first

Noblesse oblige is a French phrase literally meaning "nobility obliges". The Dictionnaire de l’Académie française defines it thus: ⁕Whoever claims to be noble must conduct himself nobly. ⁕ One must act in a fashion that conforms to one's position, and with the reputation that one has earned. The Oxford English Dictionary says that the term "suggests noble ancestry constrains to honorable behavior; privilege entails to responsibility." Being a noble meant that one had responsibilities to lead, manage and so on. One was not to simply spend one's time in idle pursuits. quote

Excellent lecture, but only scratches the surface of Ms. Simpson’s sinister lawyer Maitre Blume. Caroline Blackwood’s book THE LAST OF THE DUCHESS fills in much more. Money can’t buy real friends. Read about the last days of A&P Grocery heir Huntington Hartford!

A very biased viewed that makes no pretenses as to the biased nature of what is said throughout this interview. "Believe nothing of what one may hear and only half of what one may see."
