Greetings from Texas! Digging the channel so far dude! That table would be pretty gnarly for road trips but i'm curious why they couldnt make it a slid out table with a bracket like you see at universities.
Australia had a lot of great locally made Fords......but the AU wasn't one of them. Search out P6 LTD, ZD Fairlane, XE ESP, Ford Territory and EL XR8. Holden and Chrysler Australia had some cool classics as well.
The new Transit Connect has a steering wheel that flips up to form a table, it instantly reminded me of your vid. And I guess someone at Ford (or maybe YT) did too because I was served an ad for the van showing off the function as a result of searching for your channel. There was text explicitly stating the result was because of the search term.

It seems that, Ford Australia really hit the nail on the head with the mobile office package, it’s a shame that we don’t see this in modern cars of today.
I've had quite a few American commentors confessing their love for the AU and admiring the styling - it really sounds like Ford missed out on a big export market with the AU!
@@MotoringBoxTV They ABSOLUTELY missed out on a huge market here, but I'd say with all of the Falcons after 1970 (which was the last year for that model here). It was the stop into Indroopilly KFC that amused me the most. That was my local KFC for a long time. Back then there was a Red Rooster where the GyG is. And you used to be able to take that street back up the hill and around Westfield and there was a park on the left. Now since Westfield expanded it's a dead end street and the park is gone AFAIK.
I've commented on my mint AU before on your channel, the one owner lady who owned it was actually a manager of a recruiting company, although mine hadn't got the table it does have the flip out pH holder with the electrics and also has a factory microphone fitted to the pillar pretty much in front of your right eyebrow that you are meant to speak into hands free. I am actually wondering whether I can customize it by changing the old Nokia plugs for iPhone or android connections and changing the pH holder itself to accomidate a modern one.
@@MotoringBoxTV Oh and nice interior on your fairmont, the BA BF are less interesting IMO than the equivalent AU fairmont, bland and uninteresting in comparison, oval vs boxy silver plastic, I'll take the fake woodgrain and oval everything any day.

What an awsome piece of cinematography and all from only a hallow plastic office attachment for ford falcon.
I can't imagine what you will come up with in the future.
Love the content.
Thanks mate! It may just be a hollow plastic table, but it's somehow much more than that.
Top shelf edit there, this is doco quality content man.
That joker on the phone, what a clown 😜
Thanks mate!
That clown sounded like a typical ignorant young inner city buffoon.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.
As a fellow AU and 64 owner, this video has made my day. Too many priceless moments to mention.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks mate!
This information is not remotely relevant to me, but damn your videos are quality!
Glad you enjoyed it Mike!
A couple of months ago, i was tossing up between an AU Falcon or a WK Statesman. In the end i chose the Statesman, but your videos turn me green with envy. Great vid!
Don't have regrets, WK's are awesome!
good content man cheers from Italy!
G'Day from Australia!
Another amazing video! Love your videos men keep it up 👍
Thanks mate!
I just disliked this video because its not long enough.
I didn't want to push it any further - there's only so much you can say about a plastic table! Thanks for watching.
Perhaps the mobile phone presenter is the only surviving child of the mobile office pack.
At $25 new it is the best accessory I’ve ever bought for my BF.
As it’s a blank slate you can mount any phone to it, so the mobile office pack lives on in 2020 with a late model iPhone.
Thanks AU!
So the BA/BF had one too? Never knew that.
Yep fit to any BA/BF or SX/SY. Should hopefully still be able to get one off eBay.
Cavalier front. Taurus body. KIA Forte rear end.
Not sure about the KIA part!
You Yankans need to start using Aussie car bits to sum up your models. Your really are a centric people.
Loving your videos mate, I'd love to see you cover more Aussie cars especially different falcon models
Thanks mate - I will certainly be looking at more soon!
If you ever need to sell this majestic machine for any reason, I hope it finds a caring and loving home.
I sincerely hope so too...
Nearly all I see have some sort of blemish, be it a dent here and there or deteriorating clear coat.
I think a lot of them aren't well cared for.
There was an AU Fairmont Ghia at my local mechanics they said is owned by a nutter that had a whole heap of issues due to his neglect.
Also I came across a burgundy forte apparently abandoned with an impound notice and unlocked! I sat in the driver's seat and nearly all the steering wheel rim rubber had come off in chunks! The body looked in great condition on the outside. Shame I didn't try and save it.
@@jamesfrench7299 . The paint on mine is shocking but it's not because the car is uncared for.
Unfortunately I don't have undercover parking but I have maintained it the best I can.
Never missed a service and all issues are repaired asap.
When I can afford it I'm going to get it repainted matt black with a flame job
HI There, I have Fairmont series III 2002. Love to have one of these tables. Do you know how to get them?
Also would you kindly make a clip on Carbon cleaning on your AU FORD? Thank you.
That ship has sailed sadly... they're far too rare, and now far too valuable that you'd have to crawl over broken glass just to shake the hand of the man who bought it 😁
I'll tell you what, I'll watch everyone of THESE videos over any video from Schmug150's, that's for sure🛎🛎
I'm a bit sick of supercars too, to be honest.
@@MotoringBoxTV But you are driving one...
There is such a strong, unshakable aura of sarcasm resonating from your voice that I cannot determine if anything you say is even remotely serious. I see you're another fellow local of SE QLD; take care of yourself and your AU out there during this bushfire season.
Thanks mate!
I cant really fit a table like that in my Micra, cause its probably the size of the whole car XD
It's surprisingly large!
Motoring Box produced quality that I would expect from maybe a 3 million subscriber channel, I really hope you grow because I love your videos.
Thanks mate, hopefully one day we'll get there.
My school teacher tell me not to talk about AU Falcons or even mention them during class descusion
Sounds like a crappy place to be.
Ask the teacher would they prefer you talk about AU Falcons or tactical stratagies for active school shooters....
Just remind your teacher that they peaked years ago and for you the future is unlimited.
Fucking teachers are shit
Teachers shitty wheels have been chopped by a AU obviously.
I have to say you are the definition of subtle bogan traits in a person, but its served with professionalism. Love it
I try not to take myself too seriously. Thanks for the comment!
Yesss MCM Collab hahaha Carn the AU
It's probably the sort of challenge that would come down more to the driver than the cars!
In all my years I never knew nothing about those tables .. I would suggest that the Majority of the public really didn’t know about it .. when the au come out I was working at Ford and I never seen one or even Heard of the concept of the mobile office table.. it’s fantastic that you go through all the trouble to Educate people about a car that was Truly appreciated .. cheers
Thanks Tony, interesting to know that you never heard about it before - and glad I was able to bring you up to speed! Cheers
OMG Ford came up with some crap lol. awesome video about crap I didnt need to know about but glad I do now 🤣🤣🤣 (Oh shit Moog on the phone haha)
I'd love to know more about the development, and who's idea it was to develop the option pack!
Driving around in a mobile office.. Like Homer Simpson. Awesome video by the way, Just the idea of tracking down the desk for the AU and actually purchasing one deserves a like and and subscription
Thanks mate. I searched for a good few months before giving up. Then this one suddenly came up, like it was meant to be.
I don't think I'd like a table in my car
Because like...
I need to change gear
Changing gear is overrated.
Yeah, you're right.
I should just leave it in 4th and just ride the clutch to move.
Just make a custom table where the gear stick pokes through (you may have to extend the stick) and the front leg rests on another part of the car :)
@@RennieAsh Ooh that's perfect.
Instead , I'll let the table rest on the clutch pedal. Problem solved :)
@@MotoringBoxTV says the man who ended up with an XR6 manual. If anything automatics are overrated.
Thanks mate! I also think the table could have folded back somehow. Like you see on some planes.
at the nine-minute mark, we explore a very cool list of cliches. Hahahaha sublime stuff!
They drive me up the wall...
Loved how you assembled all the corporate buzz phrases into a presentation
The new Transit Connect has a steering wheel that flips up to form a table, it instantly reminded me of your vid. And I guess someone at Ford (or maybe YT) did too because I was served an ad for the van showing off the function as a result of searching for your channel. There was text explicitly stating the result was because of the search term.
Can I just say your editing, framing and flow has skyrocketed. Your going to be massive. Probably your own tv show massive.
Thanks a lot mate, I'm sure my videos will get better with time, and one day I'll look back on these and cringe!
@@MotoringBoxTV we all look back and cringe at ourselves. I just moved to Brisbane and love filming and editing. If you ever want a car enthusiast mate to give you a hand let me know bro.
I luved the tent effect in the head liner , giving it a a vanguard rustic camping look
So very opulent.
I was in Europe/ usa for 6months in 1998. Checking the internet news from LA, in Australia the new Au falcon was out. My brother and i could not believe the new stylist monolithic shift! Its taken 2 decades for me to learn that it was really a mobile office pac on wheels we were looking at, minus the little stool!
I think the step up to the AU was a bit much for most people back in '98. Today it doesn't look too out of place on the road.
I always expect this channel to have well over a million subs. Definitely deserves it. Very Professional
I hope with time we'll get there, that'd be a dream come true.
Man, what an excellent video; watched it twice! I was all-in already and then came the briefcase with the Nintendo 64 😂😂😂😂. That whole office skit was like a better-done Top Gear bit. Really, really good work all around; you're a natural!
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Having a table such as that in my very own car would be nothing short of sublime. Imagine how much it would increase my productivity in my day-to-day life. It seems that, Ford Australia really hit the nail on the head with the mobile office package, it’s a shame that we don’t see this in modern cars of today.
I think it's a neat idea. Perhaps not enough demand for manufacturers to bother.
I love this. Your best video yet!
Really wish we’d gotten the Falcon/Fairmont in the US. These were such great looking cars.
It would have been a great addition to the FoMoCo lineup here...and we could have avoided the horrible Fairmont we were stuck with in the late '70s and early '80s! EEK!
The bird at 12:31 is coming!
I know it's probably a bit hard to find info - the VN Commodore on launch had an insane list of accessories too - my favourite was the car fax that attached to the carphone that took up half the boot. I had a chance to go through some old manuals while working at a dealers, although those are probably in the bin now.
Also love the bird coming to murder the drone @12:30
Yes that bloody bird wouldn't even let me take off! Such a shame, it was an awesome spot right in the middle of Brisbane CBD.
I thought a lot of your videos looked west of Brisbane, the trip home on the Centenary confirmed that! looking forward to the AU v the Yaris!
Not far off the mark there :)
It'd be fun to experiment with the phone holder and see what you could do to modernise things.
@@MotoringBoxTV Oh and nice interior on your fairmont, the BA BF are less interesting IMO than the equivalent AU fairmont, bland and uninteresting in comparison, oval vs boxy silver plastic, I'll take the fake woodgrain and oval everything any day.
I am actually one of maybe ten people who actually bought one of these! I do remember that the price was quite reasonable (what AU part wasn't) and it arrived at my country dealership in about two working days. In case you are wondering, I needed to use a laptop regularly in the cabin. I really enjoy watching your channel all about the cockroach. I had a series 2 ute, so I missed out on watching my mates hit their heads on the roof as they entered the rear of the sedan....he he. Edit: When I received it, I thought the logo looked like it was done by Mambo.
That's cool - an original owner! I imagine Ford must have sold them for well under $100?
@@MotoringBoxTV Now that is really stretching my memory. I think it was about $80. It would have been better with a USB jack, but that would have been way ahead of its time lol. The bag was a real bonus as I was expecting a FOMOCO cardboard box.
I love how much this guy loves his regular car.
Shit yeah, it's awesome.
The Mobile Office connector under the dash (behind the fuse box) can be used as both a 12V power source for, and audio input from, pretty much anything, even though it was originally intended to hook your Nokia or Blackberry up to it.
I'll have to check this out - was it part of the loom on all AU's?
@@MotoringBoxTV Sorry, I was wrong. It's my BF that has the Mobile Office Connector. The AU does have a small two-pin white connector in the same location which might be useful for something
I remember how challenging it was to drive a manual car around Melbourne in the 90's... while eating a greasy souvlaki and talking on a mobile phone in traffic... I wish I had a table like this, I would have had somewhere for a drink & chips!
Sadly we can't have that sort of fun around here anymore. Well, legally anyway.
I honestly didnt think the table existed, i thought it was just a meme from facebook, but now realising that it was a real production factory option makes me happy
I'd love to know how many Ford made - I reckon it must have been less than 500.
MotoringBox I reckon less than that if you were lucky, but just seeing you use it, that made my day, Gone But Never Forgotten
Keep up the great work mate
My dad had a Falcon Forte way back in the day - his work car with the now defunct Australian Barley Board. I distinctly remember the phone presenter and the reading lights. Never saw the table though. Maybe he just left it in the boot...
That's cool - I think the phone holder could be optioned separately so he may not have had the table.
What a great piece of kit 👍.
When I was a sales rep on the road it was a pain in the ass to have to either push the seat back or move the wheel forward so I could balance my laptop on my knees to type up call notes/check emails.
Sounds like you're the kind of person Ford had in mind when they designed this thing!
I am always impressed just how into the AU you are. Most awesome. Great production again, congrats.
I bought it as a joke and promised myself I wouldn't get attached...
I spent my day in an AU today, winders in the back, electric windows in front. Brilliant AC. Needs Bluetooth and more height adjustment for steering wheel.
Sounds like a good day. The steering wheel goes quite high I thought?
Made my day watching this video. Good to a piece of Australian History being shown!
Glad to hear mate, thanks for watching!
Man I’m jealous. Great video again!
Thanks mate!
ha ha, another great video. The table is crazy. I want one just for the reactions. "What the hell is that thing?", "Oh it's just me table mate".
There was a guy in a van who saw me eating off it. Looked like he just saw Jesus.
Great video, keep up the good work
Thanks mate!
yes but what are your KPI's for the fiscal quarter
With the mobile fax in the back seat he can at least send in his TPS report.
I haven't set any KPI's - it is what it is. Let's touch base at close of play next Friday and dive deeper into the issue.
@@MotoringBoxTV
clearly we are on the same page , and on track to meet targets and objectives
UA-cam premium knows me too well and suggested this video. Very awesome channel indeed, subscribed. Well Done!
