I'm a huge Carpenters fan and I think this is an amazing cover. Ironically, I bought the album it's on some 18 years ago but only saw this video today for the first time.
I remembered that day : I sang this in Akademi Penata Rontgen Semarang @ Inauguration Nite, 1996 with my band. The crowd gettin wild. Because we're the only one rock band performance that night. Closest the stage - few young men wear off their shirt and raised it on the head! We're surprised and wonder. Because it was our 1st performance on public.
Yesterday Once More my favorite record my pink bunny used to sing it and my brothers orange boy bunny used to sing I’m A Man by Chicago on our bunny stage!
I love this band so much!!!! They're way to underrated, and way to amazing. If you can ever get your hands on a copy of show world, please do. You will not regret it🤩
Redd Kross.... and The Lemonheads, are my 2 most favorite bands ever. I at least got to see Evan Dando, meet him, and have my brother who saw him after me, convince him to give me a quick call pre-show.. but, never got to see R.K. & doubt they'll come to Canada at this point.. 😢
It does make me cry.. just like before. This is one of the best paeans to pop music that has ever been written. And this is a fine rendition/performance.

Redd Kross are a great band ,i used to go to most gigs in London in the 90.s but kids etc get in the way these days. I remember one gig in i think it was a club called Utopia at the end of the of Portabelo mkt in london they were superb regards jimmy
The 90’s were awesome because a lot of overlooked bands from The 80’s were resurrected and encouraged to bring their influential originality back to the table : A Real Second Chance for bands like : THE MEAT PUPPETS, THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS,THE ROLLINS BAND,SONIC YOUTH , and RED KROSS .

Best Punk band that ever existed! They were aheadof their time like by at least 20 years! Sooooooooo awesome! They should release new stuff though, even though their old stuff is great. Everytime they release, something it always turns out great!
Best Carpenters cover ever! The harmonies are gorgeous and I love the production. And as a Redd Kross fan, from time to time I admit I am disappointed in their mixes on certain songs. So glad they nailed this one!
If somebody told me that some "rock band" covered this song, I would say it has to sound like shit. Wow - do I ever stand corrected. Heard about these guys through Shonen Knife. They were off my radar all my life. I'm glad I found them.

*Sigh* The 90s...when a band like Redd Kross could rock this song out and be considered geniuses for giving this classic a kick ass spin. If they did it today, hipsters would be up in arms.
I absolutely love this version of this song. They did such a fantastic job. I was lucky to buy this CD ("If I Were A Carpenter") back in 1994. It's been out of print for years. To purchase it on Amazon now costs a small fortune.

For years I keep coming back to this cover. There are a lot of cliche elements, but I think it works because he sings it like he really loves it.
