Interesting show. But I thought the Reverend (Steve Forrest) was the killer of his sister. Roger Perry was good as Gazzara's partner Detective Dan Kirby. When Chuck Connors was examining Detective Kirby on the stand he called him Detective Perry by mistake. John Kerr ("Tea and Sympathy") was excellent as Assistant DA Barry Pine. Kerr later became a lawyer in real life.
me gusto el ultimo mensaje del reverendo y el guionista y el episodio te hace pensar y questionarte valores y realidades, ella dice no soy lo que tu piensas de mi,gracias disfrute mucho, hay actores que los vi en el fugitivo, serie tv.
Good precursor to Law and Order. Chuck Connors and Ben Gazzara were each paid $7500 per episode ($75000 in today's money) plus profits. but this show had poor rating as it was opposite Bonanza and Ed Sullivan. Guest star Sandy Dennis.
Gazzara nails it at 16 mins. All we need in this world is a little common sense. Some people believe there is some good everybody. I say, they haven't met everybody.
I LOVE this series, but HATED this episode!! BORING, repetitive, nonsensical, defies logic!! At the VERY LEAST, consider the items that were stolen - a typewriter, radio & furs - does that sound like something one small person (w/out a vehicle) could carry by themselves? Keep in mind, the door "automatically locks when closed," so everything would have to be carted off in ONE TRIP!!
Excellent episode with an exceptional performance from a young Sandy Dennis
Sandy Dennis was wonderful in "Up the Down Staircase". She had a certain fragility I haven't seen in any one else.
Overall, rather bizarre.

Wow!
Such a young
Vic Tayback.
Long before anyone knew Mel's Diner even existed.
What a truly dreadful episode (though I love the series itself). Even the fabulous Steve Forrest couldn't save it.
agreed, this was a waste of time, money and nobody could tell, very awful episode in what is otherwise a real high quality tv show.

Please save us from well meaning fools.
I've never gotten as annoyed by the writing of a TV show as I was by this episode. Inert, useless detectives, a dimwitted minister.

Thanks for that Smart assessment! I needed it. Not a bad showing all , just not this one!
