Sandy Lane Update March 2024
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- It is now April 2024 and the opening date of the new Sandy Lane is still not known despite numerous requests to the developer and West Northamptonshire Council for one. The road is still not ready and the initial planned route via the 'Road to Nowhere' looks doomed. So, how will lorries and cars now access the roundabout on the A4500? Via the old Sandy Lane past the houses whose occupants thought this would be a thing of the past.
From Duston Parish Council's Facebook page, 2nd April 2024:
'Today, we've received several enquiries regarding the current status of the ongoing works on the Sandy Lane closure. we have contacted West Northamptonshire Council for information, but clarity on the reopening timeline remains elusive. We're committed to seeking further clarification and will be sending an email today to pursue this matter. We'll keep you updated as soon as new information becomes available.'

Thanks for this Clare
New video coming out today!
This is ridiculous now hope Northampton council will serve a penalty notice to the developers for not opening sandy lane on there given time the two business on sandy lane should be compensated the villages disrupted should not have had there council tax increased this year come on Northampton council open the road brilliant video
Thanks, the businesses will get no compensation because they were planned works. Rubbish! 😢
Great video, it's good to get an aerial view of what we don't have access to. Did I see the new Doctor's Surgery?
No surgery, but you may be able to spot the queue of people waiting for appointments already, let alone when these houses are built 😭
Sure an article on line from the BBC about sandy lane thay said it probably won't open until June its all seems very strange whats going on first its on open due to a disputed bit of private land now saying about the developers finishing the road to nowhere none of which should affect reopening sandy lane thay can continue to dispute the private land the road to nowhere has been like it is for the last fifteen years or thay say it needs safety checks the developers gave a time for opening so should have done safety checks before that date so what is really going on all a bit strange
Half the road is missing just outside Norwood House. So even though most of it is complete, this would need traffic lights 🤦♀️
Stay tuned for the developers providing the local centre, retail & school as on the Norwood proposal plans we all received. Hope they stay trading long enough to do the right thing!
Yes, doubtful, they can’t even build a road properly! 🤣
Another good video can not understand why the national news has not picked this up given the length of time this road has been closed why is Northampton council not looking into this
Honestly I think they just don’t have the backbone, I’d rather think that than the alternative: that they just don’t care.
What an eyesore
Hey Clare, it's Logan from the Chronicle and Echo again. Great vid. Am I ok to use for a news story, please, with credit to yourself. Many thanks
Yes of course, we need more publicity on the state of this!
The WNC have stopped the relief road from opening due to 'Unauthorised Works' in the construction process so this could take a while to resolve sadly 🙃
Yes, I'd love to know what these unauthorised works were, and since when has any developer done anything for the benefit of residents - which is WNC's excuse. Terrible situation!
@@clarebabes believe this goes back to a piece of land the Council had not purchased and now the legal landowner has had the work surveyed and found it does not exactly match what was in the plans ..... 🙃
@@Mike_5 such a mess. In one of my earlier videos I pointed out that the roads weren’t meeting up. I couldn’t believe it! Couldn’t make it up
@@clarebabes Sadly yes that sums up the WNC at the minute with all the malarkey they are trying to cover up when all the Council Tax Payer's of Northampton want is their road that they have paid for
Northampton council have made a terrible job of this
It’s ruined
I know, it’s such a mess!
