Kevin's core audience is nature and animal lovers, not socialites. Socialites forgive easier because most of them are as fucked up as James. However, animal lovers never forgive. For instance, dog lovers still haven't forgiven Mike Vick, despite Mike cutting off ties to several family members (mainly his brother and cousins), cleaning up, and becoming an upstanding citizen.

I also don’t think there is very much overlap in people who follow drama and these creators fans. So you can see a video about jake Paul and everyone hates him in the comments but how many of his fans actually see that video? How many of his current subscribers are even active accounts? It's very easy to say this when you don't live near them. Louis CK did a perfect bit on it. If you live in the city, or the burbs, you might think deer are adorable and majestic. Try living out in the country, when they destroy your yard every day, drop deuces everywhere, and literally get hundreds of people a year killed due to smashing into them at night. They are a legitimate pest, and they happen to be delicious. It's very easy to disconnect from the cuteness, real quick.

So when you’re in something negative, especially a situation you instigated, the backlash is going to be hectic. Anyone associated with you will quickly leave because at the end of the day they care more about money than anything.
