Lovely music! I did a minor check via mister google: Jan died in 1968, Rune (guitar) in 2012, Gunnar (bass) in 2004 and Ingvar (drums) in 2010. Tack så mycket, killar!

His sons are carrying the torch. As Bröderna Johansson they play his music and Metal as their "Day Jobs". Very able musicians in deed.

After a while Jan Johansson didn't want to play these tunes, he wanted to reinvent himself all the time. So sad he died so young. Who know what more wonders he could've worked in the world of music? RIP you master of tunes.

The Swedish Metal community owes so much to Mr. Johansson and his fellow musicians.
I think more that all Swedish music owes more to Scandinavian folk music, even Jan Johanson.

@@rimmersbryggeri Yes, and because so many Swedish metal musicians were inspired by his compositions. Opeth is an example. You can really hear the influence on albums like Heritage. Falconer is another example with We Sold Our Homestead.

Those are norwegian/ danish.
@@rogerfransson6215 AND you always spell "son-names" with double S in Sweden so the only Swedish of those is Johansson :D
@@TheSmartman14 Mostly yes. Johans son= son of johan. However some choose to spell Johanson, but Johansen is for sure norwegian or danish.

If you mix jazz, Swedish folk songs and Bach, you get Jan Johansson. It´s amazing that you can hear so much of Johansson´s sound in Scandinavian jazz to this day. I regard him as the godfather of Scandinavian jazz, but I´m not a historian or anything!

Underbar liten trudelutt. Men tycker gitarrsolot var tråkigt. Jan har (hade) en sån jävla fin känsla för melodier. Han fångar något som är svenskt... Som att han hittar inspiration från den svenska folksjälen. Låter som en nationalist nu men jag kan inte förklara det bättre. Det är så det känns.

Han fångar den djupt underliggande svenska melankolin som gör våra visor och Jans musik så själfull och vacker ;)
