I have read that you can pour some cooking oil in the rainwater. It will kill the mosquito larvae but at the same time it is not bad for the plants. Never tried it myself though.

We do this with our vegetable rinse water. PIck our greens, soak em in a bucket of of water to clean off all the dirt from the roots, and water the garden with the water.

Wow John. Today I was watering my plants today and getting annoyed by my kinked hose and I thought, "maybe I should get a watering can" and then you upload this..... lol keep it up

the spout water cans are very good for the self-watering containers where you are adding water to the water reservoir rather than directly onto the plant

YES. As long as your containers are clean, if "organic matter" collects, its probably fine for your plants. People water their garden with "grey water" - water from their laundry machines that have washed their "dirty" clothes with biodegradable soaps ..

Hey John, ...about your wire fences used to get your plants to grow vertical ...How high are they. I know 6ft for tomatoes. What about other plants? Maybe you use two heights? What are the heights of the wire supports? And what material is this?

Man, I ain't touching rainwater till Fukushima is under a mountain of boron cement! lol But seriously, check out Haw's watering cans. The rosettes they have make the water like rain...and you can get different ones.

I prefer the can with a lot of holes to a spout too.

You never said the name of that galvanized watering can! It looks like a Haws - is it?

Does it really matter? i just use a bucket?

Sure, bucket works if you wish to blast the soil. Try watering seedlings. NOT.

    metal ones will rust though.

I have the perfect idea for your rusted metal watering can IF they are like the green one he showed us. I will be putting it up as soon as I get all my supplies, and then you can recycle it into something beautiful , cheap and will add a little more to your garden .......so after I make video I will come back to this and let you know when I am done.

looks like a good watering can. but personally i wouldn't want any of this radioactive rain to be getting on my plants right now. tomorrow the radiation hits the west coast pretty thick. look for the utube channel under dutchsinse, he'll show you the weather patterns and the actual and forcasted radiation levels in the air. thank me later.
