Well there is another reason: Some of the levels are really long and the music is repeated over and over. It gets grating real fast in places, so many people might opt to turn the soundtrack off. I know I did. I didn't even know there was a boss theme because I had it turned off when I was fighting the bosses and forgotten about it at that point.
You know how the final boss of the Shadow Tower (where this song plays of course) yells out "GIVE HER BACK TO ME AAAAAAGH" before you fight them, right? In the Japanese version of Evergrace, this dialogue isn't as subtle. They instead say "GIVE MY BIG SISTER BACK AAAAAAGH" Isn't that an interesting fun fact? I kept it vague for those who may be playing this game for the first time.

Music is subjective. So long as it's sung with talent, it's nearly impossible to be objectively "garbage". Though if you're really going to compare any of this OST to mainstream music, you are so fucking delusional. I like some of this OST for its creepy vibes, but the artist was snorting coke off a hooker's ass when he made this.

Anyone who played Evergrace noticed, trust me. It's an inseparable part of the atmosphere, and perhaps the most recognizable feature.
I wasnt very keen on the game itself but it does have a fantastic soundtrack. It gives the world a very haunting, mystical atmosphere.
