  • Alright folks we got a little crossover video here. I break down that one long rant from Escape from Tarkov over some buttery footage of the new Call of Duty that was in open beta this weekend.
As many of you may know, the famous Scav Rant comes from a 1991 film called Blood and Concrete: A Love Story, which has a wonderfully imaginative Russian dubbing. This dubbing is the same script that the scav uses, but you really have to hear both the English and the Russian versions to appreciate it fully.
    English rant:

    Russian version:
    • Кровь и бетон (Blood a...

Another great video. It's really satisfying to hear such a detailed and academic breakdown.

In "решил ко мне лезть" ("reshil ko mne lyezt") "лезть" can be translated as "to bother/to annoy/to harass". It's a colloquialism. Also it can mean "to meddle", "to intrude". But in this context, your translation is perfectly fine.

Hey bro, I think your background was nice in the scav videos. I got some ideas, because a different game in the background is kind of confusing, to new and veteran viewers.
Have you considered a mix of the first three scav translation videos for your background? You should take a screenshots or videos of different sceneries in-game, then greenscreen yourself into the background. Like sitting on a barrel, a sofa in the hideout, on the admin building, etc. It would be hilarious and a great visual aide. Throw in the pop-culture or internet meme video that is being referenced on top for a short time and you got yourself the best visuals that you could get to not pull too much attention away from the really great stuff - your actual content. Which is what I would stay focused on. I understand that the viewcount dropped down in the part 3 video, but I wouldn't try to steer away from the direction now. Rather try out the formula that worked in the first video. I hope you understand what I mean.
I think there is still a lot to discuss, and you are engaging heavily with your community, this tends to make a channel grow fast.
But you gotta continue my man!
Fire up that greenscreen, stand beside Sanitar while explaining on of his lines, and then after a maximum of 2 minutes 30 seconds you jump to the next line. Not enough time? Revisit in the next video.
Boom, part 5 and 6 done. You have a really great idea, do not be demotivated because a few people said that "your aim is bad" or something. Nobody clicked this video so see sick frags, I know I didnt. Ignore the subjective criticism and do your own thing. Maybe consider some constructive criticism from your fans, but I think I dont have to tell you that.
    I believe in you :-)

I really want to do this! General Sam does this kind of thing a lot. I wasn't really thrilled with how this rant video turned out because as you said, having a different game was kind of confusing (it was just the weekend of the COD Beta when I made this so I thought I'd combine subjects and get more viewers, but alas...). Also I completely botched the fact that this was just a reference to shitty pirate voiceovers in general, not so much a tribute to the specific movie. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I probably shouldn't have used COD footage but oh well. Might re-do it with the proper Tarkov background.

This is a fantastic addition to the "translating Russian phrases and insults from video games" series you've done, if I may make a suggestion, could you take a crack at the "Mercenary" character from Insurgency: Sandstorm? Most, if not all, of his lines are in this video:

    Thanks!

Absolutely I can, thank you this is a great suggestion. Someone else mentioned this in the comments a while back and I never got around to following up on it but the link helps immensely.

It is entirely possible, that putting this rant in the game was not about appreciation for the movie, but to the ridiculous amature "nasal voiceovers" from the late 80s, early 90s. In the 80-s soviet regime laxed, and videosalons (видеосалон) started popping up, a small so to say movie theaters with a tv for the screen and a vhs player. They played western movies with those amature voiceovers that could turn anything into a comedy, as the voice was so bad that made it fun. The voice was not always synced with whats going on on the screen. Some times if original voices were too fast, the translation was so obvioulsy extremely shortened that it added comedic value to it. Some times the voice actor paused as if he's trying to find the right words for translation! And i've heard that some of them actually translated it on the go!
You couldnt see most western movies in proper theaters or on tv, and so this was a window into the western culture and it was very popular.
    Heres a russian video about 10 of those voice actors/translators - ua-cam.com/video/ec6hYpsBu7k/v-deo.html
