Another perfect example of how it's the pitmaster and not the cooker that makes great BBQ. Well done sir.

While there are definitely times that the pit can make a difference, it's up to the pitmaster to overcome: in other words, to not make excuses. Now, this little grill has a relatively shallow cover. There is a limit to what you can cook. But, if you size appropriately, I think we demonstrated that smoking is a hobby that can be enjoyed by anyone who has a bit of outdoor space: even if their budget is limited. Thanks for watching!

Wow, thanks a lot man. I’ve been doing ribs, burgers, pork chops, and bratwurst, but I’ve been wanting wanting to do this on my little cheap grill at home, but I really wasn’t too confident in my abilities to do this unless I had a much more expensive grill set up.

Appreciate you for this video sir! Just bought the expert grill yesterday and made some good ass burgers this afternoon. Your video really helped me out since I never grilled before. Cheers bro!

Had one of these for about 2 years would have it still if I cleaned it more diligently and kept it out of the weather better. I used it for sausage burgers dogs and ribeyes. Guy here did a great job not sure the chimney was needed but gave me some good ideas for a pork shoulder sitting in my fridge . Let the coals get grey don't over fill it have and toss your chips on the edge and it's as good as any charbroil drumb grill if your just feeding your self and some friends.

In case anyone was wondering, the formula for converting standard burgers to metric burgers is (Standard Burger * .75) + 1.39. If you weren't wondering, at least now you know. What cuts of meat would you like to see cooked on this tiny grill?

Great video. During my RV Full Time Living days I had The Suitcase Grill. Square with folding legs. It had top vent and side vent with four holes on the side opposite the side vent. I used metal tape to seal the four holes. When smoking, I used the Snake Method. I did a lot of Pork Butt's & Chuck Roasts. Snake method provides 8 hours of low and slow temps. With minimal lifting the lid.

Really great primer on charcoal cooking! Wish I had seen this ages ago.

Why you didn’t put the vents over the meat instead of over the charcoal

Glad I watched. I have been learning grilling and a majority of the success seems controlling the temp using vents. Now it’s practice, practice time on my
    Weber portable charcoal.

Thank you for using the expert grill brand I'm new and in an apartment so it just has to be small and cheap. I was going to get the bigger seventy five dollar one and get fancy. Thanks again.

Appreciate the kind words. I think we’ve all kind of “been there” regarding buying cheap grills and just starting out. Hoping this appeals to those folks.

Nice cook out on the cheap grill. I used to have one of those flat grills but I loved to smoke meat. I couldn't fit a tall enough meat for that grill. That's a hassle to clean up the used coals ash from the previous cook.

    • @ColdWarBarbecue

Yeah, I had the same issue here. Had to pick a smaller piece of meat. This wouldn't be my first choice as a smoker, but it works in a pinch!

If you understand the general concept of bbq-ing, you can cook a great tasting piece of meat just about on anything.
But part of bbq-ing is buying the gadgets, grills, tools, accessories, etc, tweaking the recipes…
It’s fun using different methods of cooking your food.
