    I used 110 Conibear traps to catch hundreds of muskrats in grass like that when I was a teenager. I just put the traps over the holes in grass. may need to upgrade to 220 Conibear for a Nutria.

      Yeah I need to get me some. That’s probably what I’m going to get with the money I make from the tails. Haven’t decided on the 220 or 330

    Man, you brought back childhood memories. I was around those traps were new and I would go Nutra and meat hunting with my grandma and grandpa. I would drive the car on the shoulder of old Highway 90 going towards Morgan city my grandma and grandpa would walk and set the traps. that was a good old days. I might have been 8 years old. When we get home, wed skin what we caught then we turned the skin inside out on some old skinning boards and set them to dry. We give the meat away to anybody who wanted it. It was too much for one family. What a blast from the past.

    It's good to see frank again safe and healty.healthy. Vinnie i have a question do people still use nutria fur? I mean is there still a market for it? If so why not sell the.fir as well as the tails?.

    • @PelicanBoneOutdoors
      @PelicanBoneOutdoors  18 днів тому +1

      No there really isn't a market for it. That's pretty much why they have the bounty for them. If the market was good they wouldn't have to pay, trappers would be putting a hurting on them. There is somewhat of a market for them for felt but it ain't much.

    Great video Cuz. Doing a good job with music and composition and story telling. Y'all catching anything else in the traps? Is there a scent that you can put to lure them to your traps?

    • @PelicanBoneOutdoors
      @PelicanBoneOutdoors  21 день тому

      I haven't caught anything else yet. I met another trapper out there that said he gets otter every now and then. I don't think there is a bait or lure for nutria.

    That idea of two boats is good. A shooter boat and a chase boat. First one fires, second pickup. Just change once in awhile. First boat carry marking flags as you get them. Then chase boat can find the hits.
    The shoes are great, but you need a type that snap on and off.

    This question is for whomever has experience with these boats……
    What are the pros and cons of a Pro Drive vs a Go Devil vs a Gator Tail? My brother and I will be investing in one of these in the next bit and we want to spend our money correctly, the first time. We appreciate reliability, simplicity, and something built FAR stronger than it needs to be.
    Thank you kindly for your input.

    • @PelicanBoneOutdoors
      @PelicanBoneOutdoors  21 день тому +1

      Honestly none of them are bad in my opinion. Pro-drive isn't as fast as the others but is a work horse. For me there is no substitute for their full power reverse and now they added the instant reverse so having both is a game changer. I don't care for the tiller handle on the Go Devil, I find it too long and it's harder to turn all the way to one side or the other. Hope this helps.

    • @samuelnelson7429
      @samuelnelson7429 20 днів тому

      @ Thanks! I am leaning towards the Pro Drive. They have a self bailing deck option that’s pretty slick, too. I appreciate your response.
