Im just gona try and enjoying watching us again, it saps all the fun when you agonise over every single point and looking over your shoulder at the gap.
It’s frustrating to see the same pattern repeat every year for Liverpool. We dominate the league until Christmas, but don’t make necessary investments in January and keep playing the same players. The players then get fatigued and start struggling and before you know the league is done.
So true - because it’s not an absolute necessity to buy a player like kerkez for example this window, we put it off to the summer to get a cheaper price and potentially lose out on silverware as a byproduct.
Difference is we don’t have a freak Man City team chasing us down this season. Arsenal are a good side but two of their best forwards are out for a long time
Great analysis from Mo there. We should’ve just scored first and taken the lead, then it would’ve been easier. Can’t believe no one thought to try to do that!
Belated praise: Rob, Josh, Mo are surely the best proponents of analysis in this podcast. Their depth of knowledge is incredible. Thanks for all for producing this. Magnificent.
Josh Williams, Forecaster of Misery. Can’t wait to read THAT book. Plus Mo - by 6:29 you’ve inspired my kid’s spring league theme “how do we make our opponent do what they don’t want to do”.
I just want this game in hand out the way. That’s when I think we can get a better idea of where we are. Feb 12th that game is, at that point we’ll all have played 24 games. Concern is our fixture list. Even if we’re 7 clear at that point we’ll still have to go away to Villa, City and Chelsea. We play Arsenal at Anfield with 3 games to go. That’s going to be a title decider I feel. Which considering the massive gap we had… feels like a worry. Arsenal run in is about as piss easy as you could possibly hope for bar Anfield. Whereas last 5 we have Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton in there.
The three forwards that combined to score were Diaz running towards front post, gakpo occupying keeper and jota knocking it in. This was the first time these three had ever had the chance to be on the field together.... And they are the top 3 for open play goal ratio this season for our team
I don’t think you can blame frustration for the shots outside the area considering we were going it in the first 5 minutes, either a plan or players just being silly.
I think the manager and players thought it would be a lot harder than it was to get to those positions, so when the players did they panicked and just started shooting, at half time Slot said don’t do that you plonkers, just keep working it, and it stopped.
Momentum is Key...last 7 games 4 draws (of the total of 5 all season)...we need that momentum to change...we point fingers at other teams' deficits and not ours as a form of improvement rather than addressing it this window...the over use of Gravy (now playing CB)...he burns out we then blame the player rather the people in Mgmt...that had an opportunity in Jan25.
The forest goal came about from Mo not making a simple header back to Trent.... He bottled it.. And then the transition was fast. It's not about weather we expected it or not... It's about winning duels. Mo didn't win his. Forest score.
That and Gravenberch was filling in for Konate who went up to challenge a header, and then wandered out of the CB spot before Konate had returned to his spot. Simple loss of concentration and bang - goal
@@xxxxbuddhaxx7xxAnd Virgil then deciding to drop deeper than everyone else because ‘speedster’ Chris fucking Wood ran in behind and then he didnt bother to even mark him after he plays him onside
Our form is real worrying right now, wouldn't bet on us beating anyone. constant wasting of 1st half's. Really poor range shooting against low blocks. Maybe a game every 3 - 4 days will help the fluidity as last few weeks with generally a full week rest has seen us play worse!
On the Alisson questoin, we should just play Kelleher in the CL dead rubbers, if he does really well then there's a conversation to be had. Even though they're floundering, we've seen Guardiola this year and Arteta last season not afraid to change goalkeepers mid-season. Not saying I want that to happen, hopefully Ali recovers to his best, but there might be something there since we also bought Mamarda recently
Deja Vu… Play boss up until Christmas then the gas runs out and teams figure out our tactics. So many fans defending mediocrity and ignoring the facts right in front of their faces. - Other teams are strengthening, we are not. - Robbo and Alison looking like they are falling off. - Slot stubbornly ignoring talent and legs in Endo and Elliot. Got to get them on the field. - Starting out slowly and obviously not preparing and firing themselves up pre-game It’s going to end in tears (again) unless these things are addressed
I just don’t know how a Liverpool fan can be completely positive atm. I salute you if you are but we’ve seen this script before. The same pattern. Show no ambition in the summer or Jan and the legs fall off then we lose the title. We only need 2 fucking players. A LB/LCB and a DM to almost guarantee the 2 big trophies imo. That’s not asking for much. The harsh reality is it cost FSG money if we win.
Ah come on blaming Allison based on stats so if a keeper concedes goals and their all impossible saves it’s his fault if it’s 9 goals in 15 maybe one or two were on another day saveable but we are spoilt with Allison still beat keeper in the world
What was the song that the Forest lot used to sing that they were in Arne's head? I could not hear it, but since I'd heard in the post match presser that they'd sung something I have been imagining them singing it to Zombie by the Cranberries "We're in your head, in your hea, ea ea ead, Arnie, Arnie, Arnie Arnie" Which to be fair is almost as good as one of the worst songs from the Kop . At some point this season someone will overtake us at the top. It’s coming I can sense it. Same thing happens almost every season. A couple of additions in the transfer window would be useful but let’s be honest we’re signing nobody.
Kelleher should never have lost his place. One lapse of judgement in the whole time he was in goal during Alison's absence. Is it just a coincidence that our results have got worse since Alison came back?
@@BelpassoOilandWineCo are you being serious? Allison is the starter and widely regarded as one of the best keepers in the world, you halfwit. He’s not gonna lose his place in the team because his replacement did ok for a couple months
I watched the game again, Gravenberch, Gakpo and Diaz shots in the 1st half were just awful, they had space and time to make a good shots and hit the target. Alisson played well against Girona back in Dec , save 3 situations.
I don’t understand our owners. They’re business people, surely if they invested in just a couple of players in the January window and we win the title, then that makes the club even more valuable. Have they not heard of speculate to accumulate?
The league is 2 games being in a proper fight for the title race or us running away.. I hope it’s later . I see our next five games . We have to win the next five and I feel everything will fall on our way and less pressure with arsenal going against city, villa , Chelsea..this run of five games will tell us a lot abt ourselves as well so before anything focus should be on that.. if not pressure is totally on us till the end of season which is something we can’t afford with contract and fsg especially in April-may
We aren’t running away with it. We had our chance to do that and we shit the bed. Threw away 2 points again Newcastle. Mess at home to Fulham. Then UTD/Forest points dropped. We’re already on a proper title fight now. 4 points, even with a game in hand, is nothing. Especially considering our fixtures are much more difficult 2nd half of the season than Arsenal’s are.
Talking about atmosphere... i don't get to aways anymore but they sound as bad as Anfield most games, are they full of tourists now as well? Always at least 90% scouse when i used to go. But was shocking again the other night, hardly a noise until we equalised
The scousers from your time are still there and don't make any noises. They don't even wear club colors because it's not cool to do so. Blaming tourist is an easy way out when majority of the ground is season ticket holders
I have always been FSG in but they’re taking the piss now. We’re full of shit in the window. We’ve become like West Ham / Everton back in the day in the market. All talk, no action,
These boys will be well aware the wheels have come off on this old Liverpool squad. When you fail to invest in anyone in the summer to upgrade, you get the same results as last season. There should be no surprises the same patterns are there. Said before this team wasn't beating Newcastle and Forest away, and there's Brentford, Brighton, Fulham, Cheaty, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Everton and Villa all to play away. Once we equalised, they had to come out and that gave us a lot more room after turning them over in the middle third. That's why it looked better.
I don’t think you can blame frustration for the shots outside the area considering we were going it in the first 5 minutes, either a plan or players just being silly.
Definitely a plan to draw them out of the low block and create spaces behind. Our long shots were just wank for some reason
Exactly, the long shots were going in very early. It seemed like a deliberate ploy rather than frustration as stated by the guest
I think the manager and players thought it would be a lot harder than it was to get to those positions, so when the players did they panicked and just started shooting, at half time Slot said don’t do that you plonkers, just keep working it, and it stopped.
Sometimes goalkeepers just have a patch when they’re not at their best. Doesn’t need to be a dramatic discussion about him being 32
Over analysing the keeper to be honest
