He calls the current state of the clan pathetic. The one who unleashed Kurama was indeed an Uchiha, this lead to the distrust from the villagers, which is also understandable since Madara once controlled Kurama against the Leaf. Instead of proving their innocence by opening their heart like Naruto, they choose to isolate them self even more. They have chosen to separate them self from the village by secretly meeting and staging the coup, they wanted to make Fugaku Hokage. Again, Naruto was able to become homage by proving himself worth the title, Itachi was discriminated as an Uchiha in academy and later in ANBU, but he never paid attention to it. Fugaku and the clan concentrated on the hatred that they are being discriminated instead of proving them self to be worth to be treated equally. I know that Obito also contributed by stirring up the pot to destabilize the village but still, the clan were already having this mentality.

Imagine just a few weeks after a kaiju fox almost destroys your home, but your one of the lucky few who still have a house to sleep in. Next thing you know, the ANBU comes a knocking and says "Hey, we think someone in your clan of HUNDREDS of people caused the attack even though we have no real proof of that (And when I say that I mean they have no proof of anyone INSIDE the village being responsible. For all they know it could have been a random stranger who stole a sharingan (and it KINDA was)). So we're gonna evict you from your perfectly livable house and instead move you to some ghetto compound on the other side of town with the rest of your clan. BTW, that used to be a prison." Do you realize what kind of message that sends? Your essentially saying they should be grateful for being displaced on a HUNCH. (Again, population movement is a warcime.) "Second, scheming the coup was a foolish Idea, that would only prove that they are the one in the wrong, no one would ever accept the president by force." You might have a point about people not accepting a new Hokage by force (even IF you don't take the systemic racism into account), but what choice did they really have? CLEARLY things weren't going to get better, and the government wouldn't budge on giving them ANYTHING the normal way. Take for instance what happed after Minato died, instead of trying to find another candidate (which at that point was really just Fugaku because Orochimaru was a psychopath by then) they just switched back to the crusty old 3rd Hokage without a second thought. They didn't even CONSIDER looking for someone else. And if you'd read the novels (which I know they aren't canon, but we can ATLEAST use them as reference for things not shown in the manga or anime) you'd realize that the plan was to have a BLOODLESS coup. They were just going to have Shisui use Kotoamastukami one the Hokage and have him step down so that Fugaku (or ANY Uchiha really) could take his place. And Hiruzen was already in his 60's by that point so I doubt anyone who WASN'T racist would question it. "If they were wise, they would have tried looking at things from the village side as well and work towards changing that image." I know it my not seem like it (what with all the rampant prejudices), but the Uchiha clan ARE apart of Konoha. They helped FOUND the damn village for Pete's sake! They are JUST as much Konohanian (I'm not sure if that's a real word so bear with me) as anyone. And this argument goes both ways because the village (or just ANYONE with common sense) should have realized that the Uchiha (or atleast the clan as a whole) weren't the ones responsible for the attack. Wanna know how I know this? Because A; The Uchiha had no motivation to do so. They live in Konoha just like everybody else. They feared the 9-tailed fox just like everybody else. So why in the ZUCK would they try to unleash a GIANT KAIJU NUKE-FOX in the middle of their own village? That just get them all killed. And number 2: the YAMANAKA'S. Now you may be asking yourself, "What do the Yamanaka's have to do with this? They weren't even involved in the 9-tails attack." and that's exactly the POINT! Remember what the Yamanaka's are known for? Their flower shop, their mind transfer jutsu, and...wait, I feel like I'm forgetting something...oh yeah! They're MIND READERS!!! If the village (or let's be honest, Hiruzen, Danzo, and the council) ACTUALLY gave a shit about finding out who was responsible for the attack and why then they would have just had the Yamanaka's reads the minds of every Uchiha (or atleast the police officers and the Uchiha who actually had sharingans, because those were a rarity even by then) in the clan. And then if they found the one who was responsible they could just throw him or her in jail and call it a day, problem solved. But they DIDN'T. Chalk it up to bad writing if you want, but I think this really shows the just HOW little they actually cared. It was never about whether the Uchiha were innocent or not, they just had a disaster occure that they could conventionally blame the Uchiha for so that they could be one step closer to wiping them all out. All because they feared them. "Fugaku admitted that he had no faith in Itachi, he stole the future from Itachi," "I'm sorry this might be the Vodka starting to kick in, but I GENUINELY have NO IDEA what your talking about here. If your referring to when he brought Itachi to a war zone when he was 4, then I'm sorry to say but in Naruto that's pretty much the norm for parenting. Sure not EVERY father sends their kids into war zones, but their still expected to take missions where they have to sabotage and murder people after they graduate. (And Kakashi became a chunin at 6 so that really should put into perspective just how young these kids were being put into the workforce). You can't use our real worlds standards to judge characters in Naruto for the decisions they make because their world is FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT from us. "If he had kept the clan in check and be patient, perhaps Itachi would have become the first Uchiha Hokage that could change everything, change the wrong image of the Uchiha for villagers and connect the Uchiha with the villagers." If he did that then the clan would have been waiting for the rest of their lives. Their image was never going to change because the system was rigged against them from the start. And the system didn't WANT to change it either, It wanted them gone so it could prosper. Why should they go out of their way to please a government/society that wasn't made for them? And as for Itachi becoming Hokage? (Dear God I shudder at the thought.) He couldn't. Remember how I said the system was rigged? This is ESPECIALLY prevalent in the selection of Hokage. First it was Hashirama Senju, then Tobirama Senju (his brother), then it was Hiruzen (One of Tobiramas students), then by the time the election for 4th Hokage rolled around two of the candidates were Orochimaru (Hiruzens student) and Minato (who was Jiraya's student who was HIRUZENS student). See the pattern here? Then after Minato died it was back to Hiruzen. Then it was Tsunade (Hashirama's granddaughter), then it was Kakashi (Minato's student), then It was Naruto (who was Kakashi's student and Minato's SON), and now it's looking to be Shikamaru who comes next (Who was one of Naruto's CLASSMATES!) It all comes down to nepotism. You HAVE to related to a previous Hokage in someway or you don't have a snowballs chance in hell to become one. And since Itachi wasn't that AND an Uchiha, chances are AT BEST he would have just stayed a clan head and ANBU for the rest of his life. The point I'm trying to make here is that no matter HOW you slice it, the Uchiha's aren't to blame for any of this. Konoha struck first, and the Uchiha's suffered because of it. Thank you for listening to my Ted-talk, and I hope you have a pleasant day.✌️

"Fugaku admitted that he had no faith in Itachi, he stole the future from Itachi,"
"I'm sorry this might be the Vodka starting to kick in, but I GENUINELY have NO IDEA what your talking about here.
"If he had kept the clan in check and be patient, perhaps Itachi would have become the first Uchiha Hokage that could change everything, change the wrong image of the Uchiha for villagers and connect the Uchiha with the villagers."
If he did that then the clan would have been waiting for the rest of their lives.
Then it was Tsunade (Hashirama's granddaughter), then it was Kakashi (Minato's student), then It was Naruto (who was Kakashi's student and Minato's SON), and now it's looking to be Shikamaru who comes next (Who was one of Naruto's CLASSMATES!)
It all comes down to nepotism.

Then at some point it gets too much from being founder to being guards to a prison.
The coup was justified.
Choosing unknown people over ur blood now that’s itachi biggest problem
