Rolgol - A Documentary from Kutch

Awarded Best Editing for Non-Fiction in 3rd National Students Film Awards.
The cinema veritae styled film follows two maaldharis (pastoralists of Kutch, India) on their daily routine. Will Bhachaya find his buffalo? How does Saidu make coal out of the local thorny weed? Is there more to Bhachaya and Saidu’s life than what appears to be their ‘profession’?
They say when Hunger came knocking on the doors the people of Kutch welcomed her with open arms too. Such is the hospitality of Kutch. In this barren land which hardly receives any rainfall, Bhachaya and Saidu take us around and deep inside to explore what Kutch is truly about.

very good documentary, apart from the beautiful landscape it is the people, their views on life and their extreme humility and hospitality which is truly amazing
Especially when one of them says that when they come across a stranger they first ask him to come into their house offer him food and then ask him as to where he has come from etc., We. the so called educated urban people should hang our heads in shame and learn a lot from them.

Excellent. Very well structured, first drawing us into the (perhaps banal) lives of the cattle-herders of Banni, until we bond with them, then pull out and show their worldview. Brilliant! Nice use of music, interesting cinematography style. Kudos!

Bhirandiyara) few decades back). Info. For exploration - longest - hightwise kutchhi was Taiyya of Dinara(6666 regn. Vehicles bullet n mahindra) & out of 18/20 varieties of grasses of bunni few were used by their ancestors for consumption by making chapatis during draughts.
