I really enjoyed this. I moved from CA to a town close to Bentonville about 2 1/2 yrs ago, and I absolutely love it. No, I do not work for or with Walmart. It is a very different vibe out here.
I saw you recording this video, sadly I couldn’t get a ticket to the festival, or to see Kam, but just seeing you waddle around in track pants taking b-roll of our construction with a digital camera made me giggle and made my day so I thank you.
As a small town American bushwacker from Mo., I really enjoy your comedy approach , your Christian faith , and your perspective on this wonderful country! God bless you and your dreams ! Thanks again for all the medicine u give in laughter
You’ve tapped into something good here man. It’s eerie how a town oozing in that much manufactured and empty schmaltz is the epicentre for the death of the American dream. Grim, but nice in a Stepford Wives or Truman Show kind of way.
You make an art out of taking existential dread and rolling is in a sweet comedic coating to make it an easier pill to swallow. I will digest this over time.
This was a powerful reflection! Thank you for the effort put in to this. It’s a mini documentary that raises some great points while also very entertaining.
I’m so glad that you are breaking through in America. I thoroughly enjoy your comedy, and through the visual element you have proven time and again that you are truly an amazing artist. You’re a beautiful person and I love you, brother. It also makes me happy that you and Sam hang out and work together, when you did each other’s podcasts it was pure bliss. I know this sounds like the ravings of someone who has doused themselves in alcohol or some other substance but I assure you I am clear headed and sober, just got on from work. Have a good evening.
As someone who grew up in Bentonville it is nice seeing an actual outsider perspective. You've put into words that I could never quite express. I love Bentonville but it is almost like I'm uncovering a weird conspiracy when I realize many of my friends and family have organically worked for or are currently working for Walmart. It's like a microcosm of globalism but it's peaceful enough to not notice you're missing out on something else. Also I wish you guys come back because I completely forgot to buy tickets this time. You probably didn't get to walk up the first bikeable building like I have many times.
Thanks for visiting my town. It’s not perfect and I don’t love Walmart but bentonville is truly a great place to live. I moved up here 2 years ago and I love it. I don’t work for Walmart and neither does my husband and I don’t love how we are run by Walmart but I love our access to so many different things.
I enjoy your humor and find myself nodding to many of your insights. For a moment there I thought you were going to start singing Bitter Sweet Symphony. “Tryin' to make ends meet, you're a slave to money then you die”
Thank you for your insightful dust up about my home state. In my travels around the country not many people can point to Arkansas on a map despite literally mandatory education to inform them of such things. I very much appreciated your take on the weird and lovely town of Bentonville. If you end up in Little Rock or crossing my path in travel I will be sure to hit up one of your show.
There are a ton of small towns booming all over the south with local businesses. A lot of them have been dead since the 50s and 60s but they've been coming back strong over the last 20 years. Go to any small town in the south with an old down town and it's most likely doing pretty well these days.
This was amazing, glad i found your channel. Loved the episode you did with shane and billy where you brought up Port Arthur shooting and now I have so many questions to ask, we've mostly been contained to american conspiracies' and I want to hear more about your countries conspiracies. Anyways much love to you and your family. Glad you are enjoying America
Poignant observations here James. Amazing that towns like this still exist somehow unaffected by the big box changes, or perhaps more likely preserved due to the bubble of Walmart maintaining the image.
Eyyy, thanks for the picture and compliment to the Marcus Aurelius background on my phone. Spot on analogy about our town. It's so cozy, but it does also feel incredibly disingenuous.
The brilliance of the Crystal Bridges Art bit is that they have the premier collection of sublime art in the country. Their most famous painting is famous for its depiction of transcendence via the Christian God. Absolutely hilarious
The song while he’s talking about the art museum is Dante’s Prayer by Lorena McKennitt in case like me you recognized it but could remember it. Now you don’t have spaz out and look for for 40 minutes like I did.
I grew up going to Siloam Springs for my summers to work on my Aunts farm, its the town over from Bentonville and you fucking nailed it. That little area is so weird because of Walmart.
“Hey Sam, how do you feel about trade unions” 😂😂😂
Pure gold right there
He wasn't programmed for that.
Watching this from my break at work… at bentonville… at Walmart
If James was born 50000 years ago, he'd be in a cave.
Painting the walls by torchfire.
Hoping someone would see them and give him a canoe
and we'd all show up every day in the hopes that a man with a canoe would see the crowd and check out the commotion
The James Donald Forbes McCann canoe revue
You act as though canoes are readily available to everyone but James.
James, you are a true creative genius. I want all of your content. I will pay millions of dollars for it.
thats enough for a few catamarans ho!
I will show you my taint!
James, this was excellent. It feels like you are about to make a big leap forward. Keep going down these paths, you will be rewarded.
James, this is a masterpiece. I knew all this already. But, your eloquent prose made it more interesting.
My favorite part is where the descent into madness REALLY begins
A revelation revolution
I really enjoyed this. I moved from CA to a town close to Bentonville about 2 1/2 yrs ago, and I absolutely love it. No, I do not work for or with Walmart. It is a very different vibe out here.
One of the most powerful videos. Truly a Great Leap Forward in audio visual commentary.
Beautiful visual element. Catamaran ho!
My soul weeps commercially
I’m from arkansas.. never looked at Bentonville in this light.. i appreciate your perspective!
I am so happy James keeps putting out videos.
I saw you recording this video, sadly I couldn’t get a ticket to the festival, or to see Kam, but just seeing you waddle around in track pants taking b-roll of our construction with a digital camera made me giggle and made my day so I thank you.
Yo you calling James a fat hog? Only the fats and penguins waddle.. I don’t see James wearing a tuxedo 😂
This dude is a fucking genius. Hes the Australian tidal wave that's crushing America with pure joy.
As a small town American bushwacker from Mo., I really enjoy your comedy approach , your Christian faith , and your perspective on this wonderful country! God bless you and your dreams ! Thanks again for all the medicine u give in laughter
What part of misery?? South of kc here myself
I’m from Piggott, Arkansas. Went to poplar bluff, MO to shop for groceries. Terribly ugly and depressing town
I live in Bentonville and this could not be more accurate. 😂
You’ve tapped into something good here man. It’s eerie how a town oozing in that much manufactured and empty schmaltz is the epicentre for the death of the American dream. Grim, but nice in a Stepford Wives or Truman Show kind of way.
This is the kind of chaotic video essay that I can get behind. Stunning visual element as always.
You make an art out of taking existential dread and rolling is in a sweet comedic coating to make it an easier pill to swallow. I will digest this over time.
This was a powerful reflection! Thank you for the effort put in to this. It’s a mini documentary that raises some great points while also very entertaining.
The camera pan from the roast, to the vaccination ad, and then the tracksuit was too funny
that for real broke my small aussie brain
Oh my God... JDFM has gone Super Saiyan here... This is FANTASTIC 🙌
born and raised in Bentonville, pissed I missed you and Sam but glad you got to stop by and check out the city

I concur
Currently at work…. At Walmart
God bless
Do you sing their morning song? I found that shit demoralizing and degrading. 😂
my condolences
Ahhh, my brother in Christ, may we do some affirmations together?
Currently on break at Target. Life is really something, huh?
Mate, this is so good! Total masterpiece! I am sure this was a lot of work but my goodness did I love it! Thank you!

This was just a really good video well done little James
Really well done
As someone from just outside bentonville this is hilarious and I never thought about bentonville this way lol
Tremendous. Please keep keep making stuff like this.
CATAMARAN HO!
As someone who is from Adelaide, has a wife from Bentonville, and has been there many times to visit family, you’ve surmised it perfectly.
I enjoy your humor and find myself nodding to many of your insights. For a moment there I thought you were going to start singing Bitter Sweet Symphony.
“Tryin' to make ends meet, you're a slave to money then you die”
This is a beautiful video
James’ voice soothes me and my dog brain. 👌🏻
BRAVAH! what an amazing vid and bit!!!!! Awesome stuff!
I'm digging the Ave Maria.
I have no idea how I came across James, but seriously, this guy is absolutely hilarious.
"Not watching screens all day..." Screens are one of the worst things you can start your kids on. What a waste of a mind.
Really channeling Josef Pieper here. Love it.
Need more of these little documentary
More random history please, this was awesome

You know what you can't get at Wal-Mart? A decent catamaran.
What's even the point of Wal-Mart then
You can order it online.

Such a good video dude 👏
I love the "I'm not enough of a philosopher to explain why, but this just fackin sucks" approach
I'm gonna send this to my friends who read New Polity
Perfect assessment. It makes me deeply sad!
The thumbnail+ the title = unimaginable hell
Good observation James
Poignant observations here James. Amazing that towns like this still exist somehow unaffected by the big box changes, or perhaps more likely preserved due to the bubble of Walmart maintaining the image.

Spot on analogy about our town. It's so cozy, but it does also feel incredibly disingenuous.
Hello from Rogers, AR. Right next to Bentonville because it's too expensive to live in.
Thanks for making this video.
“It didn’t use to be like this”😂
Thumbnail had me thinking this was a Walmart ad. Almost missed it.
hopefully remedied
I love seeing the outsider perspective on Walmart. This man would be a great addition to Wide World
Omfg dude I’ve been saying this shit for so long thank you sm for spreading the gospel
Hello from Bourbon Indiana
when I first saw that hologram I was like why do they have a hologram of Hugh Hefner?
Lmao
