Not always true. I had no experience. And my instructors said the same thing Bleu said. "Stop telling yourself that these people will not hire you. Apply for everything. Because most most have transferable skills." Basically you need to sell yourself and practice interviews. Be more positive. Revise the resume. I used to fall asleep with my thumb sore from one click apply buttons. I got hired and hired. No experience. I was trainable and coach able. I learned and took notes and showed my enthusiasm in learning. Employers love it! Stay the course. Stay encourage you've got this. And stay away from negative people. You are enough!!! Even if they say experienced. There is a little secret. "They are willing to hire and train the right person." Sell yourself.

🩵I love your toughness. Im saving all these tidbits on my phone notes, texting your videos to myself...I am going to do the self-studying this year and use your syllabus/guidelines...rt now my "studying" is youtube tutorials and hunting down some used books to get into his. I was an EMT for 6 years and do billing for a lawyer now from home but want to do and learn more...I think I like this stuff! Thanks for your knowledge!

My exact thoughts. I passed my CCA 12/27/23 (also on the first try, thanks to Bleu's videos) and was having this issue as well. I started to believe I would have to find somewhere I could do an "internship" of sorts to gain experience. I love Bleu's videos. I'm currently in accounts receivable AND a cashier in retail. Bleu, this video is perfection!

Good advice. I started out in health insurance as a claims examiner where I took the bills that were generated (I didn't know it at the time by a medical coder) and keyed them into the claims system. They use the same code sets, CPT, HCPCS, ICD and some 'home grown, depending on the client. I agree that medical examiner is a great way to build a foundation that will stand out when the chance to transition to medical coder comes along.

Wish I could’ve met you in 2007-2008! I gave up so easy because I couldn’t find ANYTHING in this field. I am now considering taking the course again, and taking the CPC exam…and just getting back out there again.✨

I have an Associate degree in medical billing and coding. I graduated with honor in 2006. Well, I never work in the field due to illness. Thank God my student loan was forgiven. Now I want to use my degree. Can someone guide me on how to work part-time at home with a flexible schedule. I'm tight on budget. This inflation is killing me.

Insurance companies pay examiners about a week as they pay Dr's. Meaning they do all they can to get out of it. Is a good first step tho.

You apply anyway. You apply with a one page resume, that lists your skills. Do not let the job ad discourage you from applying. You STILL have to apply anyway.
I'm saying this to lift you up. You can do it.

Once you become a certified medical coder, what kind of home office setup do you need to work from home as a medical coder ? Can you use your personal computer, or do you need a separate business computer with VPN and multiple monitors, to connect to the medical company's computer system [or does the employer provide equipment] ? What equipment/resources do you have to provide yourself to set up a medical coder home office, and what equipment/resources might the employer provide ?
