Beastie boys are responsible for getting LL's demo heard which basically ignited his career with Def Jam. Beastie Boys signed with Def Jam in 1984 and toured with PE and some others as well. Much respect to LL and Chuck D for their heart felt acknowledgement of the Beasties and recognition as one of the pioneering rap groups of hiphop... Let me say it again for the people in the back (not founders of hiphop) but one of the PIONEERS who paved the hiphop road and are equally as important, run that back, equally as important to hiphop as anyone in the game today... as per Chuck D leader and founder of PE in 1985... So lets love and respect the culture and the pioneers and as Chuck D puts it hiphop is NOT... I repeat is NOT just for black people and created by only black people. Lord Jamar and the Brand Nubian signed in 1989 which is 5 years after the Beasties so eat a dick Lord Jamar, Mouse, and any other ignorant mofo spitting lies and hatred about hiphop and its pioneers... 3rd Base also signed to Def Jam in 1989.. My favorite diss-song from that era is "Bully", but "The Sauce" is really good and maybe, arguably, better. And other than beefing with a rapper or being petty to ICP, this one was ballsy. Even if the Source already didn't like him, it could have been career-suicide to go at them. He did it anyway, and he got out on top. (Which... kinda lucky, to be honest. Could have gone the other way.)
