As one of Talon's regular testing partners, he's been working on this list forever and has made a massive impact on the local meta. It's uncommon to see multiple fatigue riptides at events now. At the AGE everyone was saying that it was just a matter of time before he made top 8 and what a moment to make it. Congrats to him!
Hey dude, thanks for covering the list! You 100% picked up on all the nuances there and the value game. Only note I’d give is that guardian is still a rough matchup, but it’s been getting better (check out my Round 5 game on stream for an exciting win there).
This was my first time getting a top 8 but it won’t be the last!

Riptide is fun to play and so unexpected at the local armory. He is really a Pirate who fell overboard, which is why he is waterlogged and bloated.

Riptide is fun, but I think it’s taken the community a long time to figure out what works for him in CC.
The Hybrid list between agro and defense is really good for being able to pivot play styles.
I had been a fan of New Horizons as it opens some better routes for codex.
Paired with Dreadbore you can really start cooking with getting multiple arrows at break points.
Not sure most players ever want to see Riptide be a good hero, besides, he's not a real pirate so he shouldn't be good in sea sea (CC)
He does need to be more pirate-like

When I see deck lists like these I can't help but wonder how many players try to make their own strategy vs just net decking or making their own version of a winning decklist.
Not that there's anything wrong with net decking/referencing a winning deck. You gotta win somehow and if you can pilot another deck to victory a win is a win. But the memorable wins will always be the ones who found the strategy no one else wanted/thought of.
That Riptide deck is amazing
If Riptide ever becomes meta relevant he'll immediately fall right off as everyone runs Burdens of the Past in their sideboard
What a time we would live in, too
The new hybrid list actually could get around this as they rely less on traps
@@DMArmada my friend plays Riptide (and apparently the list that got Top 8 was mostly based off of his) and so I out Burdens in Kassai. Draw a card and shut off D Reacts on a Gold Making turn? Yes please

People might not know but overpower is strong against teklo as his armor are actions

Quick question, will Thump's effect trigger if I were to increase the damage using Pummel instead of Money Where Your Mouth is?
Or would it not trigger for attack reactions?
It would, but the dominate gets a bit funky

“Dominate” only prevents additional defending cards from hand being added to the chain link; it does not remove, destroy, or return any of the existing defending cards.
