Considering the generational talent that we were forced to say goodbye to, it's fortunate for us that we find ourselves chock-full and brimming with spectacular young players along with a few proven titans. Oh, how sweet it would be to conquer Southeastern Conference softball in our inaugural year! With our coaching & talent, though obviously a tall task, we are more than capable of a mind-boggling 5th straight title!
I like the way you're thinking, Bobby! A lot of people think THIS is the year they'll finally get Oklahoma. Maybe they're right. But I tend to think they're going to be A LOT better than people think.
I was hoping to see her in the fall. I had seen her last season and thought she looked talented. I was surprised you hadn't talked about her. I agree she will be a great addition to the staff.
I'm glad you have spoken out about this Tyler. I was excited when I read the announcement that she was coming to OU, but I was frustrated not to follow her progress in Fall ball. I thought she might have gotten hurt, but then I figured out that it was a transcript issue. I feel about Bella Smith much like I felt about Karlie Keeney last year. Although Karlie went on to play a significant role in OU's success last year, it seemed to me that missing the Fall competition set her back, and she never really fulfilled the promise that I thought she had. I hope that doesn't happen with Bella. There are big shoes to fill on the pitching staff, and Bella Smith looks to me like she can step up and help fill them.
Great post, Bart. And thank you for watching. I’m really leaning on experience as to why Bella Smith is going to have a big year. You’re right, hopefully the fall didn’t set her back, but she did get to practice, which is a major plus. She didn’t get the “in game” pitches, but she’s had plenty of those over her career. And she still pitched in practice against incredible lineup. I’m ready to see her this season, though!
You’re right. We didn’t see about 20% of the starting rotation in Fall Ball because Isabella Smith didn’t pitch at all. That is a huge bump. I was most encouraged by the obvious improvement of Patyn Monticelli. Her location looked much improved. If she develops a changeup to go with her high heat, she could be dominant.
All great points. Hoping Monticelli can be a very good reliever/closer for this team. I would love to bring in that much velocity at the end of a game.
I believe that we have the best team and will repeat 5th champions. All the ladies are great pieces for the ones we lost to our puzzle game show on dirt
Our team is a lot better than anticipated, I think we have a great shot at winning a natty.i hope Patty picks up a picture in the portal next year, despite having 6 pictures, but I don't know if kd or Lowry will be ready to be out ace next year. The 3 freshmen, maybe, but why take a chance , because we will be loaded next year
I would put her at No. 3 in that situation. But as much as I like Bella Smith, and think she will be a big factor this season, I wouldn't say I'm 100 percent certain she's OU's No. 2 arm. I think Deal and Lowry will both battle her for that. But regardless, I would be surprised if Deal isn't one of the Top 3 starters on this team.
Patty, Jen and JT have enough time in the dugout to realize what they have, and to not continue developing her and utilizing her talent would be the worst thing they could do to the team as a whole. They're too savvy in the game. Isabella will be an asset to the team, and will be a huge contributor in bringing Nr 5 home in 2025.
Now I remember watching this game. Big upset Campbell beating Duke. Smith pitched. Have fun watching: ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=duke+vs+campbell+softball
Good break down and you have to remember under Jen she will improve. Plus there always be one to two players who emerge. People who doubt Patty and the program will probably say just get rid of softball if Oklahoma’s going to win it every year.🥎🥎🥎

70 career wins is pretty exceptional. That's a lot of experience to be excited about.

She is really good. I'm excited to see her playing for coach Rocha. She's going to be great. The bull pen is full of talent this year

I hope Patty will bring another picture in the portal next year, we will have 6 pictures already, players will be dying to play on OU

Smith/Landry ace rotation
That would be REAL GOOD. Lot of career wins between that duo.
Get ready when "Goose" comes along 🎉
Question for you Tyler. If you Landry is number1 and Bella Smith is 2. Where do you put K. Deal?

Agree! She has an incredible amount of experience that I think will be really valuable.

Totally agree, Robert! She'll be at her best under Jen Rocha.
