Whoo boy. I'm from Louisiana and getting a weak switch was nearly a death sentence in my house. I once got a switch from a peach tree that looked small, figuring it would hurt less. That was NOT THE CASE.

There's never a good time to have kids and tbh the fact people assume you can just have them is really annoying and sometimes hurtful! Took us a long time to have our first, it just wasn't an easy thing for me to make happen apparently 🤷♀️

Change shampoo, take vitamins D and B complex, check for fungus.
Also, my family use Dabur AMLA Gold hair oil, put in other roots for 45 min to and hour, plastic wrap it. Do couple times a week, atleast for a month or so, hair grows like crazy and no dandruff.
(Get the natural one, Amazon sells them, we use the one in a green box. We be using it for atleast 30 years now)
My husband is Dominican and Puerto Rican. He grew up in a very poor area of NYC. His punishments were exactly like you say. Chain purse strap, heel of shoes, cords…and they were a very religious family. His mom would lie about what he did, and make it bigger then what it was. And she would tell everyone at her church, and family, and shame him. I lived in a non-spanking home thankfully. This punishment is suppose to be illegal, in the U.S. But unfortunately it still happens.
I think it’s mostly a cultural thing. I’m Puerto Rican and black , sadly I got chased around with chanclas and broom sticks 😭
