The older gray sheath with round stacking tab is actually quite secure. The only downside is the as-stamped spine, but that's a purely cosmetic issue.

They truly are brilliant blades for the price you pay, I "lost" a similar knife while camping with buddies and I just pulled out my "camp cook blade" Mora 749 and carried on feathering sticks, my buddy managed to find my knife broken (blade had come loose from batoning fire wood) I replaced the handle with beech wood scales and etched the blade "NO BATONING" and gave it to my buddy.

That almost hurt to watch. Now you have a $13 blade, still is a good price for the blade alone. I absolutely love my Moras. I’ve always looked at them
as a great piece of steel mounted in an inexpensive handle. You can’t go wrong buying a Mora.

Great video! I see so many people try to compare these to their $100+ "bushcraft" knives, but that's not what we use them for. They're work knives here, and they get used hard! We've been using Mora for years, and honestly, we've have never had one fail. Cut insulation, skin beaver, slice rope, heck I even used one to cut a bit chunk of truck tire to use as an industrial bumper pad! Anything that you're afraid to ask your pocket knife to do: Ask a Mora! And talk about value! You could buy one for every room in your house, every vehicle and bag you own for the price some folks spend one one favorite knife that they're afraid to get dirty. Get one, you won't be disappointed

I bought it 5 or 6 years ago and I don't know how much wood I processed, but it was a lot.
The knife shows absolutely no sign of damage besides normal wear. No wobbling, no cracking, no bending, no chipping, nothing.

I HAVE A MORA KNIFE (THE CHISEL BLADE) AND IT HAS BEEN GREAT. IF ANYONE BUY ONE OF THE HIGH CARBON MORA BLADES KEEP IN MIND THAT ANY MOISTURE, EVEN HIGH HUMIDITY CAN CAUSE THE BLADE TO RUST. ONCE YOUR BLADE RUSTS EVEN IF YOU REMOVE...THE BLADE WILL PERMANENTLY BE DISCOLORED. I THINK IT LOOKS GOOD ONCE YOU CLEAN THE RUST OFF. ANYWAY, GREAT KNIFE.

i have taken a few of these apart for my own reasons. i also have bought mora blades and modified them to them make my own.
a significant point at 10:32. the reason mora has good strength side to side and do not usually snap at the handle is because it is inset into the handle somewhat before it tapers to the tang. important to know if your planning on using a mora blade to make your own knife and want the strength at this point in the knife.

None existant, do you mean? What I mean in a considerate way is, some kid is innocently going to copy you holding a very VERY sharp knife against a belt sander and will lose fingers. In know you wrapped the blade but I've seen the result of a band knife accident in real life with missing fingers, that's what could have happened if your grip was less strong or the rubber melted and developed a grip ripping it through the wrap, doesn't bear thinking about. Please post again but with the safety measures to take well demonstrated and explained. Like holding the blade against the platform with the sander running very slowly, you with a chainmail glove on or secured in a slow lathe and please tidy your tools that reciprocal saw could have easily slipped on to you. I know you are clearly used to using them but some people are not as experienced as you and will inadvertently hurt themselves. That said it's a brilliant video I felt like I was watching an informative version of Hostel. Very glad you made it and look forward to watching the rehandling. Thanks.

It's a waste of time when you can get a Mora Robust for $10 or a Mora Craftsman for about $2 here in Sweden.
Every craftsman and builder, electrician whatever here in Sweden carries a mora and we use them and toss them.
Too cheap to waste the time sharpening.
It has always been like this.
The Mora has never been seen as a bush craft survival knife here in Sweden.
The only reason why they seem so good in other parts of the world is because the overpriced crap that you can get there is made from mass produced cheap Asian steel.
Mora is made from Swedish steel and that's why it feels stronger and better.
But when we want a really good knife, a knife you can keep for life, we buy knifes from Finland.
If you think Mora is good the try a knife from Finland....like a Saami Leuku..

The only handle failure I’ve experienced was with a wood handle Mora #2 with a thumb guard. I was batoning through full size pieces of fire wood practically the length of the blade. It held up to this for almost 2 years but the thumbguard acted as a pry bar between the handle and blade and eventually worked it free. When I tried to remove the blade for repairs, it WOULD NOT slide out the rest of the way no matter how hard I tried. I just dabbed it with epoxy and it’s been going strong for 3 more years.

Take a piece of sandpaper, put it on a sanding block. Those with metal spring clips.
They have a layer of rubber beneath the sandpaper. You can convex the edge a bit very easily with that sanding block.
One hand the Mora, the other the sanding block. Move the Mora bevel on the sandpaper-block.
The edge you will get from that will not roll anymore.
1000 grit, 2000, and 4000 will make it really nice.

The Mora Robust is made as a shop/ craft knife. Mora advertises them as having an unfinished spine to save you money.

I've never heard of them before. I'm a CRKT guy. Cool knife tho. I have to go and check out what Mora has to offer.

The top blade is probably made rough for use with a fire starter stick. My thought it is meant to be rough. Not a miss on production.

      Fellow builder here.
I run the blue handled builders knife and light green handled chisel tip one. Two brilliant tools.

I just got a mora basic... and honestly i have never had such a nice knife. I plan on buying the companion hd among others in the future. i have paid a decent amount of money on them in the past, and these knives honestly perform better. Will never buy another brand of knife again as far as fixed blades go

The morakniv stainless blade is flexible where the carbon steel is rigid. The stainless blade is a great Skinner whereas the carbon steel works great for cutting bones and separating joints in a deer, elk or moose.

Mystery solved. Micarta or G10 scales would look good on the Mora.
