First tip if you want to really enjoy playing Rust: Stop thinking about it as an 'easier, silly/casual DayZ', because you could not be further from the mark on that lol. They have PVP, guns, and a food/water bar, and that is where the similarities end. The 'survival' aspect of Rust is almost exclusively 'survive the players', that food and water bar is just there to add a genre and a roleplay aspect to the game. Start by building at an area with relatively easy access to resources, and OK access to monuments(if youre new and build right on top of a monument build zone, you just became a target and you will not survive as a new player). When you get more comfortable with the guns, the sounds within the game, and how players move and rotate during PVP, then you start building in those high-traffic areas. Also, I don't think this happens much in DayZ building but on Rust, first thing you want to do is get your full base to stone, and 2 METAL doors placed, wood doors are 1 molatov or a few swords to break. And honeycomb your walls ASAP. Other than that, enjoy your journey. Just do yourself a favor and don't approach it like you would DayZ, the interactions are not nearly as wholesome on rust and you WILL get betrayed by the friends you make in-game most of the time. P.S.: When creating a triangle airlock like you did in the beginning- you want to have the inside door swing out, and the outside door swing in(they swing towards one another. This effectively fills that triangle, so no player can walk or jump into it. You'll see why eventually lol. Everyone gets deeped on at least once, you just learn from that and it never happens again.
I got rust first only december 2023 did someone buy me dayz but i am a female player but i am not good at gaming so I play on a pve server i have nearly 2500 hrs in rust and only 20hrs on dayz so when it comes to pvp i cannot help you much sorry but goodluck with the game.

I had a guy tell me when I first started playing Rust, don't be greedy, some servers I chop 1 tree then depo, some 2 or 3. Depends on server pop.
