That intro was so well done, awesome work dude :)
I too love watching videos that open up to footage of an erect dick flying through space.
A+Start love your videos
What was he using for a screen and controller?
The controller is an NES arcade stick.
A+Start youre way better than Beta64
You don't even need to blow into the mic. You could scream and it would not know the difference.
Mario party ds was a nightmare with friends knowing this...
ok but I’m just imagining a bunch of children screaming directly into their ds’s mic’s and thats utterly hilarious
It's a mic after all.
Nintendo do love gimmicks however with the switch i think they did really well, they got the right balance.
Also
Blowing on the ds was so annoying i felt werid in public m
sunsbookishgamesx well every ds before the 3ds has i guess a bug were if you hold your finger on the mic it reacts like you are blowing like a hurricane. I used that to beat everyone at mario party years ago
I already do it to blow off dust from the screen, so it wasn't too weird for me.
I rather blow a Nintendo cartridge than blowing a 3DS
I don't think that holding your finger on the DS mic is as much of a glitch as how it detects the sound.
I cut them a lot of shit cause that saved the industry but too much of something is as beneficial as it can be detrimental
How the heck did you get a real Spaceship!?
Airmo life uhh uhh uhh finds a way

"Remember, it's not a phase, it's a lifestyle"
"It was a phase"
This perfectly captures my emo/goth phase in early high school circa 2004. What can I say, it was popular at the time.
Hmm I'd be curious to know what music you were listening to at that time.
@@nickgarcia1292 My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Simple Plan, Evanescence, Seether, New Found Glory, Jack Off Jill, Staind, all the angsty teenage bands of the early 00s.
Gosh, it's weird to imagine people being in high school 2004. That's the year I was born, and I know a lot of existentialism can come from the fact that older generations realize that time has passed, and I'm sure I'll get there eventually, but to me it feels so weird that there was a whole bunch of people here just living their lives before I was born.
@@tiktik-ks4pg yea for someone like you the 80s or 90s must seem ancient lol. The crazy thing is how little things change and how fast time goes. Like, when people say your a baby when your in hs are more spot on than you know. And it also makes just life seem rather short and fleeting. You go from a kid to an old person pretty quick so when people say enjoy your 20's they ain't messing around. I know personally that span of my life went by the fastest it felt
@@tiktik-ks4pg A lot of existentialism indeed my friend. If I think about it hard enough it feels like just yesterday I was 19ish like you. A lot of firsts were coming my way. Trying weed, drinking, getting laid, what a fun time the late teens/early twenties is.
You'll be 34 before you know it trust me. Then you get to enjoy the 20 year wave of nostalgia that comes around. MCR just released new music for the first time in ten years last month. Time to find the ol guy liner.
When a gimmick is popular, mimick the gimmick!
So true.
That's the Sony way!
Yeah and we got the R-Zone through that logic.
Actually, the Power Glove was supposed to be good! Prototype versions were better than the final product and used far more advanced technology, however it would’ve costed thousands of dollars. So they cheapened it down and used more primitive technology, which eventually led to the Power Glove we know and hate today.
Too bad they were just jerking off
No ur just wrong
The more advanced gloves u mention were out there, but Nintendo didn't plan to use them as a baseline, because the power glove wasn't made by Nintendo it was made by Mattel, who bought the writes to use the concept from the creator of the Z-Glove... neither Nintendo or Mattel had a plan to produce anything other than what they produced. And while it wasn't a critical success, it was definitely a commercial success. With e production cost of around $23 million, after a VERY successful launch, they made upwards of $60 million.
“Love”
@@noahramos1768 Well you're wrong four times. One, the designer had the only gloves - there weren't more "out there". Two. Rights, not writes. Three, Dataglove, not Z-Glove, which is a compression sports clothing company. Four, it grossed $90, not $60, nearly a 50% increase according to How Stuff Works. So in short, you unreliable and cannot be trusted to even double check Google before commenting.

I have a Wii and a WiiU right next to each other, and would sync a wiimote between them multiple times. It basically destroyed it from the inside out.
Your videos have always been great but the production is getting better and better in editing and everything. So happy to see this channel grow. Keep it up, Scott!

Scott: I like the Wii!
Subtitles: Yeah that was definitely weed
Donkey Konga was the OG guitar hero, I loved it on the game cube and it made me so happy
I think the gimmick that most surprised me was the wii's motion tracking. As a 12 year old kid, I was shocked by how much fun the bundled wii sports game was with a new way to interact with a console. I remember my dad playing the bowling game with me, and even seeing grown businessmen go out an buy a wii just to have a little fun with those games. Nintendo takes a lot of risks, and some of them aren't really ready given the technology available at the time, but it also means that I've never felt like I've outgrown their games despite over 15 years flying by from my first gameboy. Keep it up, Nintendo!

Nah, they do have friends. They’re just not alive
That intro looks like Jeff Bezos's rocket lmao
I think the two major problems with Kinect was a lack of interesting games (like you said, dancing, training and sports games were the only decent ones), and the fact that you had to use a gymnasium for a living room to fit your jumping, flailing body in front of it.
loved the 1950s- esque sci fi intro!

STAR FOX ZEROOOOO
STAR FOOOX ZEEO
THE GIMMICKS RUINED THE WHOLE, GOD DAMN THING
Honestly, Star Fox Zero could have been so much more had Miyamoto not decided to shoehorn in the god awful control scheme, and that’s just one of the many problems I have with the game. Rehashing the same story for the fourth time, releasing it on the last year of a dead console, and not porting it the Switch as a launch title like they did with Zelda...what the hell was Nintendo smoking?
But hey, at least we have Starlink to look forward to.
Al J. Agreed to everything you just said
7:49 Sony tried this gimmick with the Cross Controller feature for certain PS3 games. You connect your PS Vita and its screen will work as a secondary display. I tried it out in LBP2 and it’s pretty cool; too bad it only supports like 4 games.
The Kinect has three good games.
Dance Central
Dance Central 2
Dance Central 3
Harmonix knows how to take gimmicky tech and make it work within the confines of the rhythm genre, pretty consistently.
The best part of the WiiU was that I could game on the controller while family watched something on the tv.
It also led to the switch, so the WiiU was kind of a necessary stepping stone.
I always thought of games as being a collection of gimmicks usually called game mechanics.
Regenerating health, platforming in 3D, cover in shooters, vertical gun recoil, vehicle health in racing, fall damage, random gun recoil, save slots, and the entirety of UNDERTALE.
Dualsense controller: *has blowing on touch bar thing.*
3DS: not bad kid.
Remember those stories and videos about the Kinect being haunted and showing ghosts on camera? That shit was scary.

I liked how the Wii U game pad would give the game pad holder an advantage against other players, and the rest of the players would have to team up against whoever had the game pad.

That doesn't make sense. Having different gameplay is not a gimmick. Changing the basics of videogames is another story. I know it's for the seek of bandwagon but please apply logic

The Super Switch? The Nintendo console that combined the 3D from 3DS, second screen from Wii U and DS, with the Switch to create the ultimate all-in-one game console?
Yeah, I’d say they did it pretty good.
Broshi geez, now I want that console to be a thing.
Seriously, I still love the 3DS solely for the dual screens.

They called me crazy for whistling into my DS, but it worked, it just worked.
I am jetting off whilst crying and approve of this video
I wouldnt call the wii the console that set nintendo back, but rather the wiiu
it’s more of the technical abilities of the machines. the wii was so focused on controls and gimmicks that it wasn’t powerful, and was barely more powerful than the gamecube. meanwhile, microsoft and sony released their HD consoles. so in terms of power, the wii set nintendo back 5 years.
@@faranhjar The wiiu wasnt very powerful either, it was less powerfull than the current gen it was released in plus the next gen was around the corner, nintendo was super rip till the switch was announced, and even then many thought it will flop like the U
Zed´s Zone that’s what i’m saying. the reason the wii u was like that was because of the wii.
i like it that when you search up the second song in this video (mac calls paula) on youtube, the second result is this video
It's REALLY weird occasionally watching the Dawnguard trailer for Skyrim for nostalgia and seeing the "Better with Kinect" bumper at the end.
This is one of my most favorite Scott the woz intros ever bc of how stupid it is
As a Wii U cultist, I find it kind of ironic that most of the talk about the wii u's gimmick had splatoon footage with it: in my eye one of the best uses of the gamepad. Seriously though, Splatoon 1's minimap was just so much better than splatton 2's all because of the gamepad. You didn't have to press a button that should've been a jump button to bring up a map that covered your enitre TV, then use motion controls that were great for aiming but just clunky for trying to jump so someone, only for you to need to something weird with the D-buttons/pad to actually do it. With the Wii U, you just looked down at the gamepad, spam-tapped a squid in a good position while the respawn animation happened on the TV and off you went. Honestly, using the splatoon 2 minimap actually hurts knowing how simple it was on the Wii U. Also RIP seekers.
I can’t imagine a world where Odama doesn’t need the GameCube microphone
me : "the wii U most likely would have sold well if it could have been portable. "
people who realize thats just the switch : no shit
That Intro is better then anything in UA-cam kids
The intro:Everyone when they first got the wii
Wii music:OH GOD MY ARM!
I love how the intro music in subtitles was (Space music)
The vitality sensor wouldve been great for horror games. When is the basic brain activity sensor?
In the Kinect's defense, its full body tracking works really well when used for PC VR, but... Not at all with the actual games it came with.
This is like gimmickception for the people who consider vr a gimmick
I just realized that ring fit adventure uses IR sensor on Joy-con to measure your heart rate and that’s very close to a comeback of the vitality sensor...
5:30 he wasn't wrong just didn't seem to notice that it was now a thing in the switch
The Guitar Hero controller is one of the best gimmicks imo
I got so scared when I saw that tub of water, I was afraid he was going to throw a Wii in
I honestly love the Wii U gamepad.
5th or so time watching this and I only just now realized his ridiculous scarf prop is actually bubble wrap
0:33 ngl I bought wii music at game stop for 99 cents cause I was bored. Thought it had a cool idea. But then, everything changed when I actually began to play
8:52 Scott decides to give a school report instead of making a orignal gimmic
10:02 What is the last word he says? I've been trying to figure out the acronym for five minutes
Ne'er-do-well

>blowing into the mic to blow up your balloons

Underrated banger.
I will say, adding Kinect to Mass Effect 3 kept the combat moving and saw me using my squadmate’s powers more... and the Wii U version changed things up in its own way... and yes, I admittedly own ME3 on all four platforms :D
I can see why you’d buy the different versions, but I own every system too and I only bought it twice because 3 of the versions are basically identical.
1:45 Wireless controllers aren't gimmicks. They're quite practical for any situation where a wire would be too cumbersome, and useful for when you want to be far from the console. At the very least, they cut down on the "tangle of wires" problem that every gamer has gone through at some point.
I grew up playing that Star Wars game on the Xbox 360 Kinect, I want to play it again but I also don't want to ruin my happy memories of it.
This video blew my mind
Great writing
I would say wireless controller were really an evolution, not a gimmick.
Exactly...here to stay and we never going back to the old way...not a gimmick...must have meant motion controllers
I think he meant the ones with radio waves
@@mtmdhd1437 As opposed to what? IR?

The thing is about the gamepad, a lot of families share consoles and have it in the living room hooked up to that TV, the only problem is that most of the time Parents are using the TV so you hardly get to use the thing unless they aren’t in the house. The GamePad allowed most games to be played while someone else was watching the TV, so the kids could play their games while the parents watched the TV. That’s why I wanted to get it, I figured it would be a good family console since I knew about Nintendo’s love of party games and the GamePad screen let me and my younger brother actually use the dang thing. Plus later on it was a pretty good streaming box with things like Netflix and Hulu.
The Wii Vitality Sensor is actually back thanks to the Ring Fit.
