      also those Instagram gym bros don't go to work, they just live in gyms, working out 2-4 times a day, eating protein 4-6 little meals. That's a life choice lol. Hollywood actors can get fit through intense 4-6 month training for movies. But afterwards they go back to their old life and original body shape.

    People say they want to reach a goal, but they have absolutely no plan what to do when they reached it. They still want to get better in some aspect. They never feel good enough and tend to be frustrated or depressed. You also just said: I worked out for months and all I did was maintaining. Well what's bad about this ? I think "staying fit" is an underrated topic. Staying something is as important as becoming something. If you are able to do the same things in 10 years, as you do today, you are already way better than most fellows.

    • @randomnameindeed
      @randomnameindeed 3 роки тому +2

      Toally agree! This is important. At some point most of us should realize that we're very well built compared to the average joe and that we don't need to improve our physique constantly. I'm certainly not out to put on as much muscle as possible. I already have more or less as much as I want now after two years of lifting, so soon I'll start cutting off some fat and then I'll be happy with my physique. I don't need to improve on it. Another thing is that people should also do more cardio. Lifting is well and good but cardio is the most important from a health perspective. Set yourself some goals when it comes to cardio too (for instance a sub 20 minute 5k), and don't worry about reaching your absolute maximum of muscle growth.

    • @holger_p
      @holger_p 3 роки тому

      @@randomnameindeed Good, but you also have this typical statement "just this one step and than it's done". It's the same as with plastic surgeries, always thinking next step is the last step. So watch yourself.
      In the cardio perspective you are right, but there are no strict borders. You can make the same exercise you do with your 100 pound dumbbells, with a 10 pound or less dumbbell, just for 30min. Suddenly you are in Cardio mode .. and still maintaining your lifting gains. Rowing is the best crossover.

    Honestly, for people like me who have never worked out in their life, you see results pretty fast. You're not gonna completely transform and have full biceps in 3 weeks, but you will definitely see noticeable muscle definition. I think for people who've already achieved their "newbie gains", the progress will slow down a lot and that's where it can get discouraging. But for us complete newbies, the results in our first few months of training are very encouraging.
    Edit: Idk how people are still replying to this over a year later. I thought it was pretty self-explanatory that I was in the midst of my first few months of training when I posted this, and I was speaking about my own experience with newbie gains. I started out a bit chubby but I decided to not worry about body fat and just implementing good habits that make me feel good. I'm complementing the lifting with biking to work, which adds up to about 40km/workday. Honestly my results have been pretty quick so far, went from 0 to 7 chins for example and starting to look much better. I don't know exactly how much muscle mass I gained but judging by how different i look it's quite a lot, I'm still looking soft and a long way from your kind of physique but I no longer look chubby and I have actual shoulders and muscularity that has never been visible before. I actually have been working out consistently for 2 years now.... and my results are pretty significant... I was weak and frail and I weighed 125lbs when started this journey... im 175lbs and have put on almost 40lbs of muscle with about 10 pounds of fat... I wanted to bulk up... so I don't really mind the fat... it went to the right places... my point is that everyone is different but diet and exercise will work no matter who you are. I used to be one of those people that didn't think exercise would work for me.... I thought I'd always be built like a twig.... boy was I wrong about that.... I bench press 225lbs now.... I do weighted pulls with 30lbs of extra weight.... and I can do 14 clean pull ups with perfect form.... I can do muscle ups as well.... my body looks great and I've never felt better.... believe in yourselves people.... we can all be our best selves... we just have to want it. That was my problem starting out... I just didn't believe I could get to this point. The important thing is to set small reachable goals for yourselves... don't set your goals too high or you will become discouraged and you will eventually fail.... small goals are the key. Another important thing to remember that I think a lot of us tend to ignore is working out by design is meant to be a struggle! Exercise is supposed to be uncomfortable... your putting your body to work and you need to understand that and be prepared for that discomfort... if your not ready for that and you don't think your ready to push yourself then you will never get any results... stay strong people... your worth it.

    I’m 5’5” and I’ve been stuck at 130-133 lbs (12% body fat) for the past 5-6 months. I used to be 145-150 lbs (24% body fat) this time last year, so I definitely lost a ton of fat. My arms got bigger and I’ve gotten stronger all over, so it wasn’t muscle I lost.
    But now, I’m struggling putting on muscle. This video was great. I think it’s cuz I’ve been sucking at getting sleep. I get 4-6 hours and go to bed at different times constantly. Gonna try to sleep tonight at 11-12 and try to keep that hour-zone from now on. Maybe eventually move it down to 10-11.

    This is great advice, I'm guessing we're around the same age and I started about 4-5 years ago. It takes an incredible amount of patience, and progress just isn't linear. There are often times I back slid due to just getting sick, or an injury, or maybe my life was more stressful and I wasn't sleeping as well and then my lifts would be bad. There's also just a certain amount of time where you just have to learn how to move properly to avoid injury and also just control yourself.

    I'm 50 and 6ft 2. about 10 years ago I went from 238 lbs (17 stone) to 175 (12.5 stone) in 6 months. I started training about the same time. sometimes 3 times a week, sometimes 6. I'm now a relatively stable 182 lbs (13 st). From October to March, I tend to float around the 15% body fat with an extra 7lbs in fat, and thats when I do the most bulking, From April to September I tend to cut fat down to 6~7 percent with low carb, zero sugar and drinking one day a week. I use body calipers to measure fat, and muscle is measured by tape. I don't tend to see much muscle growth during the summer, but I'm focused on body fat, so that's ok with me. But packing on muscle the way I used to, is way harder now I've hit 50. maybe 1/2 inch in my arms this year, and similar in chest, but again, I'm happy if I can keep this up so all good.

    Good analogy with the stock market. The only time you see quick results is in the early phases, especially the first 6 months, when you get quick feedback from fitting better into clothes. The consistency part is what gets me. I was diagnosed with diabetes in April, I had lost 15 Kgs in 3 months. Out of the hospital, I weighed 60 Kgs down from the 70 I usually weighed. There was a long way up, recovery and all.
    Now that we are in almost august, I'm about 67 Kgs. I'm consistently eating well, having a good sleep schedule, good habits, I can't exercise yet but I'm talking lots of walks, cut off lots of sugar (duh). You feel totally different. It highly depends on genetics and body type (ectomorph, endomorph and mesomorph), in general wider shorter guys with shorter arms and legs will see very quick results. Some short wide friends of mine got so buff in 2 months with bad form and inconsistent training. Meanwhile a friend and I were training for 1,5 year and we both did a lot of research on form, food, gym schemes etc. But still we saw almost no results compared to our friends with better gym genetics.
    So don't beat yourself up when you don't get as big as others, it is not fair to yourself to compare your body with some other big dude in the gym. Just stick to a great diet with enough calories and protein, stick to your program and DO NOT let it demotivate you!!! Everyone deserves and can build a aesthetic body. But not everyone can get as jacked and buff as Mike Tyson, just understand that and accept your body's potential!

    There are two things channels like do not mention for beginners and experienced alike. Be reasonable and rational to the approach to very doable goals and the way you know you've reached them is record keeping --keeping a record of dates and workouts and all that passes your lips on a daily basis. By doing this, you will know immediately you're going down a less than productive path and be able to pivot and where too.
    Good video as it stresses not to fear lack of progress and overcoming stubbornness to adapt.
