The man at the keyboards on this track is the legendary Floyd Cramer, who worked extensively on Elvis’ Nashville recording sessions from the start of Elvis’ contract with RCA in January 1956 until about 1967.

This song is really cool, too, as whatever one thinks of Elvis, he is such a complete singer. As in the beginning we have Elvis and the others beautifully harmonizing in a higher soprano/falsetto type range and then he comes in with a lovely and peaceful vibrato and deep bass resonance in his voice. So Gordon Stoker of the Jordanaires was quite right, as he would often talk about how Elvis could easily sing all four parts of soprano, alto, tenor and bass.

There were 2 drummers present at Elvis’ His Hand In Mine recording session in RCA Studio B Nashville in 1960. DJ Fontana, Elvis’ original drummer starting in early 1955 and “Buddy” Harmon are both listed as the drummers for this track.

Hi Mike, I love all Elvis’ gospel songs but I do have a few stand out favourites, like Run On. I chose a video link for Run On that has the lyrics because this a really FAST gospel tune. I think you might like it … great lyrics. ua-cam.com/video/6jueN7HY1qo/v-deo.html

An interesting gospel song of his, from a historical standpoint, is Just a Little Talk with Jesus. Elvis ran into rock stars Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins, and without any kind of rehearsal, they sang this song together because it was a church song that they all knew. Obviously, it doesn't sound polished, but it's so natural. Like going to a tent revival in the 50s. Elvis was on piano and Carl was on guitar.

I'm a bit of a musicologist and I enjoy how you put into your own words what you are hearing or what comes through, etc. While here, it looks as if many of us felt the same thing or had similar reactions though I may describe it a bit different. Elvis definitely had a several octave range while the average pop singer today can sing about one octave if I hadn't mentioned that.

Highly recommend Elvis and Lisa Marie (his daughter) Where No One Stands Alone.
It a duet his daughter did posthumously with her dad.
I think you'd really love it!
    Thanks :)

      Thank you!
It's really beautiful and you'll get to see and hear his only child, his Daughter who was 9 when he passed.
      She was his world.
She's done a couple duets with him, of course it was after he died and she grew up.
To hear them harmonize together is bliss.
I can only imagine the music they could have made if he had lived longer.

Wow thats tragic! But at least a couple of duets have been immortalized.

Yeah, but she did it yrs later.
Unfortunately they never actually sung on a recording together.
He died at 42 when she was 9.
She recorded the duets with him in her 30s I believe.
      Achieved with studio magic :)
